Abstract

Methods, systems, and computer-readable media that implement a mobile filtration system that provides sustainable, on-demand water filtration while supporting the growth and maintenance of organisms. The method includes determining an environmental parameter associated with a volume of water, determining, based on the determined environmental parameter, a control parameter for an autonomous submersible structure that includes a platform on which marine life grows, and generating, based on determining the control parameter, an instruction for the autonomous submersible structure.

Claims (37)

1 . A computer-implemented method comprising:

determining an environmental parameter associated with a volume of water;

determining, based on the determined environmental parameter, a control parameter for an autonomous submersible structure that includes a platform on which marine life grows; and

generating, based on determining the control parameter, an instruction for the autonomous submersible structure.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the marine life comprises bivalves, seaweed, kelp, or algae.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the environmental parameter comprises a concentration of dissolved CO 2 , and wherein the instruction comprises an instruction for the autonomous submersible structure to change a location of the platform on which the marine life grows within the volume of water.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the environmental parameter comprises a concentration of organic particulate matter, and wherein the instruction comprises an instruction for the autonomous submersible structure to change a location of the platform on which the marine life grows within the volume of water.

5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining a biological parameter associated with the marine life;

determining, based on the determined biological parameter, a second control parameter for an autonomous submersible structure that includes a platform on which marine life grows; and

generating, based on determining the second control parameter, a second instruction for the autonomous submersible structure.

6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the biological parameter comprises a threshold amount of sunlight, and wherein the second instruction comprises an instruction for the autonomous submersible structure to change a depth of the platform on which the marine life grows.

7 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the biological parameter comprises a nutrient concentration in surrounding seawater, and wherein the instruction comprises an instruction for the autonomous submersible structure to change a depth of the platform on which the marine life grows.

8 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the biological parameter comprises an amount of dissolved oxygen in surrounding seawater, and wherein the instruction comprises an instruction for the autonomous submersible structure to change a depth of the platform on which the marine life grows.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the environmental parameter comprises a presence of nearby ships, and wherein the instruction comprises an instruction for the autonomous submersible structure to change a depth of the platform on which the marine life grows.

10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the instruction comprises an instruction for the autonomous submersible structure to navigate from a current position within the volume of water to an updated position.

11 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing instructions executable by a data processing apparatus and upon such execution cause the data processing apparatus to perform operations comprising:

determining an environmental parameter associated with a volume of water;

determining, based on the determined environmental parameter, a control parameter for an autonomous submersible structure that includes a platform on which marine life grows; and

generating, based on determining the control parameter, an instruction for the autonomous submersible structure.

12 . The medium of claim 11 , wherein the marine life comprises bivalves, seaweed, kelp, or algae.

13 . The medium of claim 11 , wherein the environmental parameter comprises a concentration of dissolved CO 2 , and wherein the instruction comprises an instruction for the autonomous submersible structure to change a location of the platform on which the marine life grows within the volume of water.

14 . The medium of claim 11 , wherein the environmental parameter comprises a concentration of organic particulate matter, and wherein the instruction comprises an instruction for the autonomous submersible structure to change a location of the platform on which the marine life grows within the volume of water.

15 . The medium of claim 11 , the operations further comprising:

determining a biological parameter associated with the marine life;

determining, based on the determined biological parameter, a second control parameter for an autonomous submersible structure that includes a platform on which marine life grows; and

generating, based on determining the second control parameter, a second instruction for the autonomous submersible structure.

16 . The medium of claim 15 , wherein the biological parameter comprises a threshold amount of sunlight, and wherein the second instruction comprises an instruction for the autonomous submersible structure to change a depth of the platform on which the marine life grows.

17 . The medium of claim 15 , wherein the biological parameter comprises a nutrient concentration in surrounding seawater, and wherein the instruction comprises an instruction for the autonomous submersible structure to change a depth of the platform on which the marine life grows.

18 . The medium of claim 11 , wherein the biological parameter comprises a nutrient concentration in surrounding seawater, and wherein the instruction comprises an instruction for the autonomous submersible structure to change a depth of the platform on which the marine life grows.

19 . The medium of claim 11 , wherein the instruction comprises an instruction for the autonomous submersible structure to navigate from a current position within the volume of water to an updated position.

20 . An autonomous submersible apparatus for filtering a volume of water comprising:

a platform on which marine life grows;

one or more sensors configured to detect an environmental parameter associated with the volume of water;

a controller configured to:

determine, based on the determined environmental parameter, a control parameter for the autonomous submersible apparatus; and
