Abstract

A system and method for an overhead display assembly for positioning a display monitor above an electronic gaming machine are provided. The overhead display assembly may include a monitor frame securable to a display monitor, the monitor frame including at least one roller mechanism that is pivotally coupled to the monitor frame. The overhead display assembly may also include a support stanchion configured to extend vertically relative to a gaming machine, the support stanchion including an upper end that is vertically displaced above the electronic gaming machine. Finally, the overhead display assembly may include a track mechanism coupled to an upper end of the support stanchion and presenting a track portion configured to engage with the roller mechanism to support the display monitor and the monitor frame.

Claims (46)

1. An overhead display assembly, the overhead display assembly comprising:

a monitor frame, the monitor frame including a roller that is pivotally coupled to the monitor frame and a display monitor;

a vertically extending support stanchion; and

a pivoting track pivotally coupled to an upper end of the support stanchion by a coupling portion and pivotable between an operational position and a maintenance position displaced from the operational position, wherein the pivoting track engages with the roller to support the display monitor and the monitor frame,

where:

the roller includes a frame, at least one wheel, a stem, and a roller pivoting member; and

the roller is operable to support a weight of the display monitor frame when the roller is engage with the pivoting track such that the display monitor and monitor frame can be repositioned along the pivoting track by rolling the roller along with pivoting track.

2. The overhead display assembly of claim 1 , wherein the pivoting track comprises:

a first end, including a first stopper; and

a second end, including a second stopper,

wherein movement of the roller within the pivoting track is limited by the first stopper and the second stopper.

3. The overhead display assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a locking member, wherein:

the locking member is operable to lock the display monitor and monitor frame in the operational position, thereby preventing the pivoting track from pivoting; and

the locking member is operable to unlock the display monitor and monitor frame in the maintenance position, thereby allowing the pivoting track to pivot.

4. An overhead display assembly system comprising:

a first overhead display assembly and a second overhead display assembly positioned adjacent one another; wherein the first overhead display assembly and the second overhead display assembly each comprise:

a monitor frame, the monitor frame including a roller that is pivotally coupled to the monitor frame and a display monitor;

a vertically extending support stanchion;

a track coupled to an upper end of the support stanchion, wherein:

the roller includes a frame, at least one wheel, a stem, and a roller pivoting member;

the track engages with the roller to support the display monitor and the monitor frame such that display monitor and monitor frame can be repositioned along the track by rolling the roller along the track; and

the track of the first overhead display assembly comprises a pivoting track, pivotally coupled to the upper end of the support stanchion by a coupling portion, and operable to pivot between an operational position and a maintenance position displaced from the operational position.

5. The overhead display assembly system of claim 4 , wherein:

the track of the first overhead display assembly and the track of the second overhead display assembly align to form a continuous track assembly; and

the track assembly is operable to be magazine fed with a plurality of display monitors and monitor frames by rolling the plurality of display monitors and monitor frames along the track assembly via the roller from a first end of the continuous track assembly to a second end of the continuous track assembly.

6. The overhead display assembly system of claim 5 , wherein:

the track of the first overhead display assembly includes a first stopper, positioned proximate an outer end of the track of the first overhead display assembly;

the track of the second overhead display assembly includes a second stopper, positioned proximate an opposing outer end of the track of the second overhead display assembly; and

wherein movement of the roller within the track assembly is limited by the first stopper and the second stopper.

7. An overhead display assembly system comprising:

at least two overhead display assemblies positioned adjacent one another; wherein the overhead display assemblies each comprise:

a monitor frame, the monitor frame including a roller that is pivotally coupled to the monitor frame and a display monitor;

a vertically extending support stanchion; and

a track coupled to an upper end of the support stanchion, wherein:

the track engages with the roller to support the display monitor and the monitor frame;

wherein

the roller includes a frame, at least one wheel, a stem, and a roller pivoting member;

the roller is operable to support a weight of the display assembly when the roller is engaged with the pivoting track such that the display monitor and monitor frame can be repositioned along the track by rolling the roller along the track; and

the track of a left-most overhead display assembly and the track of a right-most overhead display assembly comprises a pivoting track, pivotally coupled to the upper end of the support stanchion by a coupling portion and pivotable between an operational position and a maintenance position displaced from the operational position.

8. The overhead display assembly system of claim 7 , wherein:

the tracks of the at least two overhead display assemblies align to form a continuous track assembly; and

the track assembly is operable to be magazine fed with a plurality of display monitors and monitor frames by rolling the plurality of display monitors and monitor frames along the track assembly via the roller from a first end of the continuous track assembly to a second end of the continuous track assembly.

9. The overhead display assembly system of claim 8 , wherein:

the track of the left-most overhead display assembly includes a first stopper, positioned proximate an outer end of the track of the left-most overhead display assembly;

the track of the right-most overhead display assembly includes a second stopper, positioned proximate an opposing outer end of the track of the right-most overhead display assembly; and

wherein movement of the roller within the track assembly is limited by the first stopper and the second stopper.
