Abstract

The present disclosure describes a ventilator. The ventilator includes tubing configured to receive an input gas and a flow outlet airline in fluid communication with the tubing. The flow outlet airline includes an airline outlet, and the flow outlet airline is configured to supply an output gas to a user via the airline outlet. The ventilator includes an aerosol generator in fluid communication with the flow outlet airline. The aerosol generator is configured to receive an input liquid through an inlet tube and transform the liquid input into an aerosol. The ventilator further includes a breath detection airline including an airline inlet, wherein the airline inlet is separated from the airline outlet of the flow outlet airline, and configured to receive breathing gas from the user during exhalation by the user via the airline inlet. A method of supplying respiratory gas containing an aerosol is disclosed.

Claims (36)

1 . A ventilator, comprising:

a tubing configured to receive an input gas;

a flow outlet airline in fluid communication with the tubing, wherein the flow outlet airline includes an airline outlet, and wherein the flow outlet airline is configured to supply an output gas to a user via the airline outlet;

an aerosol generator in fluid communication with the flow outlet airline, wherein the aerosol generator is configured to:

receive a liquid input through an inlet tube; and

transform, the liquid input into an aerosol;

a breath detection airline including an airline inlet, wherein the airline inlet is separated from the airline outlet of the flow outlet airline, and the breath detection airline is configured to receive a breathing gas from the user during exhalation by the user via the airline inlet;

a breath sensor in fluid communication with the breath detection airline, wherein the breath sensor is configured to measure breathing pressure from the user, and to generate sensor data as a function of breathing pressure of the user; and

a controller in electronic communication with the breath sensor and the aerosol generator, wherein the controller is programmed to compute a respiratory element of the user as a function of the sensor data.

2 . The ventilator of claim 1 , wherein the aerosol generator further comprises a metered dose inhaler.

3 . The ventilator of claim 1 , wherein the aerosol generator further comprises a nebulizer.

4 . The ventilator of claim 1 , wherein the aerosol generator further comprises an input liquid chamber.

5 . The ventilator of claim 4 , wherein the ventilator further comprises a circuit configured to:

receive the respiratory element;

select an input liquid from a plurality of input liquids stored in the input liquid chamber; and

trigger the aerosol generator to transform the selected input liquid into an aerosol.

6 . The ventilator of claim 5 , wherein the plurality of input liquids include a plurality of medications.

7 . The ventilator of claim 1 , wherein the controller is programmed to detect a breathing pattern of the user as a function of the respiratory element.

8 . The ventilator of claim 7 , wherein the controller is programmed to adjust a pressure of an output gas as a function of the detected breathing pattern of the user.

9 . The ventilator of claim 1 , wherein the ventilator further comprises a portable hard shell housing having an interior portion and an exterior surface, wherein the interior portion includes a power subsystem in electrical communication with the controller.

10 . The ventilator of claim 9 , wherein the power subsystem comprises a battery.

11 . The ventilator of claim 1 , wherein the controller is programmed to modify a property of the output gas of the flow outlet airline as a function of the respiratory element.

12 . The ventilator of claim 1 , wherein the respiratory element includes a property of the breathing gas.

13 . The ventilator of claim 11 , wherein the property includes a chemical component.

14 . The ventilator of claim 1 , wherein the input liquid includes a saline solution.

15 . The ventilator of claim 1 , wherein the ventilator further comprises an oxygen concentrator.

16 . The ventilator of claim 1 , wherein the controller is programmed to determine a threshold level of a property of the output gas.

17 . The ventilator of claim 1 , wherein the flow outlet further comprises a connecting device configured to connect the flow outlet to a face wear.

18 . The ventilator of claim 1 , wherein the aerosol generator is a self-cleaning aerosol generator.

19 . The ventilator of claim 1 , wherein the controller is programmed to communicate data to an external computing device.

20 . A method of supplying respiratory gas containing an aerosol, the method comprising:

providing an input liquid to an input tube of an aerosol generator of a ventilator, wherein an output conduit of the aerosol generator is in fluid communication with a flow outlet of the ventilator;

transforming the input liquid into an aerosol;

directing a flow of aerosol to the flow outlet of the ventilator;

mixing the flow of aerosol with a gas supply to produce an output gas; and

supplying the output gas to a user.
