Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a positive electrode active material for lithium secondary battery comprising a first compound represented by Chemical Formula 1, and a second compound represented by Chemical Formula 2, wherein, a content of the first compound is 65 wt % or more based on 100 wt % of the positive electrode active material, and a lithium secondary battery comprising the same. Li a1 Ni b1 Co c1 Mn d1 N1 e1 M2 f1 O 2-f1   [Chemical Formula 1] Li a2 Ni b2 Co c2 Mn d2 M3 e2 M4 f2 O 2-f2   [Chemical Formula 2] wherein, each composition and molar ratio of Chemical Formulas 1 and 2 are as defined in the specification.

Claims (40)

1 . A positive electrode active material for lithium secondary battery, comprising:

a first compound represented by Chemical Formula 1; and

a second compound represented by Chemical Formula 2,

wherein, a content of the first compound is 65 wt % or more based on 100 wt % of the positive electrode active material.

Li a1 Ni b1 Co c1 Mn d1 M1 e1 M2 f1 O 2-f1   [Chemical Formula 1]

(In the Chemical Formula 1,

it is that 0.97≤a1≤1.05, 0.75≤b1≤0.95, 0.09c1≤0.18, 0≤d1≤0.09, 0≤e1≤0.05, 0≤f1≤0.01, and b1+c1+d1+e1=1;

M1 is one selected from Na, Mg, Al, Si, K, Ca, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Cu, Zn, Ga, Ge, Rb, Sr, Y, Zr, Nb, Mo, Tc, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag, Cd, In, Sn, Ba, W and combination thereof; and

M2 is one selected from N, F, P, S, Cl, Br, I and combination thereof.)

Li a2 Ni b2 Co c2 Mn d2 M3 e2 M4 f2 O 2-f2   [Chemical Formula 2]

(In the Chemical Formula 2,

it is that 1.0≤a2≤1.1, 0.4≤b2≤0.75, 0.1≤c2≤0.4, 0.1≤d≤0.4, 0≤e2≤0.05, 0≤f2≤0.01, and b2+c2+d2e2=1;

M3 is one selected from Na, Mg, Al, Si, K, Ca, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Cu, Zn, Ga, Ge, Rb, Sr, Y, Zr, Nb, Mo, Tc, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag, Cd, In, Sn, Ba, W and combination thereof; and

M4 is one selected from N, F, P, S, Cl, Br, I and combination thereof.)

2 . The positive electrode active material of claim 1 , wherein:

a content of the first compound ranges from 70 wt % to 95 wt % based on 100 wt % of the positive electrode active material.

3 . The positive electrode active material of claim 1 , wherein:

in the Chemical Formula 1, b1 ranges from 0.8 to 0.95.

4 . The positive electrode active material of claim 1 , wherein:

the first compound is at least one selected from Ni 0.80 Co 0.10 Mn 0.10 , Ni 0.80 Co 0.12 Mn 0.08 , Ni 0.83 Co 0.10 Mn 0.07 , Ni 0.83 Co 0.12 Mn 0.05 , Ni 0.85 Co 0.10 Mn 0.05 , Ni 0.85 Co 0.10 Mn 0.03 Al 0.02 , Ni 0.86 Co 0.09 Mn 0.03 Al 0.02 , Ni 0.88 Co 0.09 Mn 0.03 , Ni 0.9 Co 0.08 Mn 0.02 , and Ni 0.95 Co 0.03 Mn 0.02 .

5 . The positive electrode active material of claim 1 , wherein:

an average particle diameter D50 of the first compound is in the range of 13.0 μm to 20.0 μm.

6 . The positive electrode active material of claim 1 , wherein:

in the Chemical Formula 2, b2 ranges from 0.5 to 0.7.

7 . The positive electrode active material of claim 1 , wherein:

the second compound is at least one selected from Ni 0.5 Co 0.2 Mn 0.3 , Ni 0.50 Co 0.25 Mn 0.25 , Ni 0.55 Co 0.20 Mn 0.25 , Ni 0.6 Co 0.2 Mn 0.2 , Ni 0.65 Co 0.15 Mn 0.20 , and Ni 0.65Co 0.17 Mn 0.18.

8 . The positive electrode active material of claim 1 , wherein:

an average particle diameter D50 of the second compound is in the 3.0 μm to 6.0 μm range.

9 . The positive electrode active material of claim 1 , wherein:

an average particle diameter of the positive electrode active material for the lithium secondary battery ranges from 10 μm to 20 μm.

10 . The positive electrode active material of claim 1 , wherein:

the first compound has a tap density of 2.2 g/cc to 2.8 g/cc.

11 . The positive electrode active material of claim 1 , wherein:

the second compound has a tap density of 1.5 g/cc to 2.2 g/cc.

12 . The positive electrode active material of claim 1 , wherein:

a tap density of the positive electrode active material for the lithium secondary battery is 2.2 g/cc to 2.8 g/cc.

13 . A lithium secondary battery, comprising:

a negative electrode;

a positive electrode comprising the positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery according to any one of claims 1 to 12 ; and

an electrolyte.
