Abstract

Some embodiments of this disclosure include systems, apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable media for use in a wireless network for configuring the operation of a use equipment (UE) for and after exiting a conditional handover. Some embodiments are directed to a user equipment (UE). The UE includes processor circuitry and radio front circuitry. The processor circuitry can be configured to receive, using the radio front end circuitry and from a source device associated with a source cell, a conditional handover command for a conditional handover to a target cell. The processor circuitry can be further configured to determine, based on the received conditional handover command, a condition for exiting the conditional handover. The processor circuitry can be further configured to in response to the condition being met, exit the conditional handover.

Claims (45)

1. A user equipment (UE), comprising:

radio front end circuitry; and

processor circuitry configured to:

receive, using the radio front end circuitry and from a source device associated with a source cell, a conditional handover command for a conditional handover to a target cell;

determine, based on the received conditional handover command, a condition for exiting the conditional handover;

in response to the condition being met, exit the conditional handover; and

prevent triggering a measurement report after a time threshold after exiting the conditional handover.

2. The UE of claim 1 , wherein:

the condition for exiting the conditional handover comprises a time threshold, and

the processor circuitry is configured to exit the conditional handover in response to time passing since the conditional handover command was received that exceeds the time threshold.

3. The UE of claim 1 , wherein to exit the conditional handover, the processor circuitry is configured to release one or more reserved resources associated with the target cell.

4. The UE of claim 1 , wherein:

the condition for exiting the conditional handover comprises a channel condition threshold, and

the processor circuitry is configured to exit the conditional handover in response to a channel condition of the target cell meeting the channel condition threshold.

5. The UE of claim 4 , wherein the processor circuitry is further configured to prevent triggering a measurement report after a second channel condition threshold is met after exiting the conditional handover.

6. The UE of claim 4 , wherein the processor circuitry is further configured to trigger a measurement report after a message is received from the source device of the source cell after exiting the conditional handover.

7. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the processor circuitry is further configured to:

transmit, using the radio front end circuitry, a measurement report to the source device, wherein the measurement report is triggered based on a first threshold; and

perform synchronization and random access operations with a target device of the target cell in response to a measurement on the target cell satisfying a second threshold different than the first threshold.

8. A method, comprising:

transmitting, by a user equipment (UE) and to a source device associated with a source cell, a measurement report, wherein the measurement report is triggered based on a measurement threshold;

receiving, by the UE and from the source device, a conditional handover command for a conditional handover to a target cell;

determining, based on the received conditional handover command, a condition for exiting the conditional handover, wherein the condition for exiting the conditional handover comprises a channel condition threshold; and

exiting the conditional handover in response to a channel condition of the target cell meeting the channel condition threshold.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the condition for exiting the conditional handover further comprises a time threshold, and the method further comprises:

exiting the conditional handover in response to time passing since the conditional handover command was received exceeding the time threshold.

10. The method of claim 8 , wherein exiting the conditional handover comprises releasing one or more reserved resources associated with the target cell.

11. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

preventing a triggering of a second measurement report after a time threshold after exiting the conditional handover.

12. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

triggering a measurement report after a second channel condition threshold is met after exiting the conditional handover.

13. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

preventing a triggering of a second measurement report after a message is received from the source device of the source cell after exiting the conditional handover.

14. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

performing synchronization and random access operations with a target device of the target cell in response to a measurement on the target cell satisfying a second measurement threshold different than the measurement threshold.

15. A source device associated with a source cell, the source device comprising:

radio front end circuitry; and

processor circuitry configured to:

receive, using the radio front end circuitry and from a user equipment (UE), a measurement report, wherein the measurement report is triggered based on a measurement threshold;

communicate with a target device of a target cell to reserve one or more resources associated with the target cell for the UE; and

transmit, using the radio front end circuitry and to the UE, a conditional handover command for a conditional handover of the UE to the target cell,

wherein the conditional handover command comprises a condition for the UE exiting the conditional handover, and

wherein the condition for exiting the conditional handover comprises a channel condition threshold for the UE to exit the conditional handover in response to a channel condition of the target cell meeting the channel condition threshold.

16. The source device of claim 15 , wherein the condition for the UE exiting the conditional handover further comprises a time threshold.

17. The source device of claim 15 , wherein the processor circuitry is further configured to receive, using the radio front end circuitry and from the UE, a second measurement report before a time threshold after the UE exited the conditional handover.
