Abstract

The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods for controlling a number of allowed downlink/uplink (DL/UL) switching points. For example, the method may include acquiring a shared channel occupancy time (COT) that includes one or more DL bursts and/or UL bursts. The method may also include utilizing one or more of the DL bursts or the UL bursts as a reference burst. The method may also include deriving a metric for controlling the number of DL/UL switching points in the shared COT based on the reference burst. The method may also include comparing the metric to a threshold value. The method may also include setting the number of DL/UL switching points in the shared COT based on the comparison of the metric to the threshold value.

deriving a metric for controlling the number of allowed DL/UL switching points in the shared COT based on the reference burst;

comparing the metric to a threshold value; and

setting the number of allowed DL/UL switching points in the shared COT based on the comparison of the metric to the threshold value.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein setting the number of allowed DL/UL switching points in the shared COT is independent of a contention window size (CWS) adjustment.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the reference burst is based on:

a beginning part of each shared DL burst in the shared COT;

a beginning part of a first shared DL burst or a last shared DL burst in the shared COT;

a beginning part of a UL burst in the shared COT; or

a beginning part of a first pair of shared DL/UL bursts or a last pair of shared DL/UL bursts in the shared COT.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the metric is based on a number of negative acknowledgment (NACKs) for physical downlink shared channels (PDSCHs) within the reference burst.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the metric is based on a ratio of negative acknowledgment (NACKs) for physical downlink shared channels (PDSCHs) and a failure status of the PDSCHs in the reference burst.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein setting the number of allowed DL/UL switching points comprises:

reducing the number of allowed DL/UL switching points when the metric is higher than the threshold value; and

increasing the number of allowed DL/UL switching points when the metric is lower than the threshold value.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the threshold value comprises a plurality of thresholds values, and wherein setting the number of allowed DL/UL switching points comprises:

reducing the number of allowed DL/UL switching points when the metric is higher than a first threshold value of the plurality of threshold values; and

increasing the number of allowed DL/UL switching points when the metric is smaller than a second threshold value of the plurality of threshold values.

8. A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions to cause a computing device, upon execution of the instructions by one or more processors of the computing device, to perform one or more operations, the operations comprising:

acquiring a shared channel occupancy time (COT) that includes at least one of one or more downlink (DL) bursts or one or more uplink (UL) bursts;

utilizing one or more of the DL or UL bursts as a reference burst; deriving a metric for controlling a number of DL/UL switching points in the shared COT based on the reference burst;

comparing the metric to a threshold value; and

setting the number of DL/UL switching points in the shared COT based on the comparison of the metric to the threshold value.

9. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the reference burst is based on:

a beginning part of each shared DL burst in the shared COT;

a beginning part of a first shared DL burst or a last shared DL burst in the shared COT;

a beginning part of a UL burst in the shared COT; or

a beginning part of a first pair of shared DL/UL bursts or a last pair of shared DL/UL bursts in the shared COT.

10. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the metric is based on a number of negative acknowledgment (NACKs) for physical downlink shared channels (PDSCHs) within the reference burst.

11. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the metric is based on a ratio of negative acknowledgment (NACKs) for physical downlink shared channels (PDSCHs) and a failure status of the PDSCHs in the reference burst.

12. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein setting the number of DL/UL switching points comprises:

reducing the number of DL/UL switching points when the metric is higher than the threshold value; and

increasing the number of DL/UL switching points when the metric is lower than the threshold value.

13. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the threshold value comprises a plurality of threshold values, and wherein setting the number of DL/UL switching points comprises:

reducing the number of DL/UL switching points when the metric is higher than a first threshold value of the plurality of threshold values; and

increasing the number of DL/UL switching points when the metric is smaller than a second threshold value of the plurality of threshold values.

15. An apparatus comprising:

a processor; and

a memory that stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:

acquire a shared channel occupancy time (COT) that includes at least one of one or more downlink (DL) bursts or one or more uplink (UL) bursts;

utilize one or more of the DL or UL bursts as a reference burst;

derive a metric for controlling a number of DL/UL switching points in the shared COT based on the reference burst;
