Abstract

One or more computer-readable media (CRM) are disclosed. The CRM include instructions to, upon execution of the instructions by one or more processors of a base station, cause the base station to: generate a phase tracking reference signal (PT-RS) for phase shift compensation; and transmit the PT-RS across a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) using a single-carrier based waveform comprising a carrier frequency. The single-carrier based waveform may be SC-FDE or DFT-s-OFDM.

Claims (40)

1. One or more non-transitory computer-readable media (CRM) comprising instructions to, upon execution of the instructions by one or more processors of a base station, cause the base station to:

generate a phase tracking reference signal (PT-RS) for phase shift compensation; and

transmit the PT-RS over a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) using a single-carrier based waveform comprising a carrier frequency; and

apply an orthogonal cover code (OCC) for transmitting the PT-RS during multiple transmit-receive point (multi-TRP) or multiple panels operation, wherein the OCC is based on a plurality of demodulation reference signal (DMRS) antenna ports;

wherein to generate the PT-RS, the instructions, upon execution by the one or more processors of the base station, further cause the base station to:

encode a plurality of information bits;

partition, after encoding, the plurality of information bits into a first portion and a second portion;

modulate and map the first portion to PT-RS samples; and

modulate and map the second portion to data samples,

wherein the single-carrier based waveform is single carrier with frequency domain equalizer (SC-FDE), and wherein the carrier frequency is in excess of 52.6 GHz.

2. The one or more non-transitory CRM of claim 1 , further comprising additional instructions that, upon execution by the one or more processors, cause the base station to determine the PT-RS responsive to a radio network temporary identifier (RNTI) scheduling the PDSCH.

3. The one or more non-transitory CRM of claim 2 , wherein the PT-RS is based on a default PT-RS pattern in time and frequency when the PDSCH is scheduled by a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) with cell-RNTI, circuit switched-RNTI, or modulation coding scheme-RNTI, and the PDCCH format is fall back downlink control information (DCI) format.

4. The one or more non-transitory CRM of claim 2 , wherein the PT-RS is associated with a group-based PT-RS pattern, wherein each group occupies K consecutive samples in time domain prior to a DFT operation associated with a discrete Fourier transform-spread-orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (DFT-s-OFDM).

5. The one or more non-transitory CRM of claim 4 , wherein K equals a number of DMRS antenna ports.

6. The one or more non-transitory CRM of claim 1 , wherein the PT-RS is generated based on a number of blocks in a slot, a slot index, and a physical cell ID.

7. The one or more non-transitory CRM of claim 1 , wherein the PT-RS is based on a guard interval (GI) associated with a data block.

8. The one or more non-transitory CRM of claim 1 , wherein the PT-RS is based on a pattern comprising a density, and wherein the density of the pattern is based on a bandwidth of bandwidth part (BWP).

9. The one or more non-transitory CRM of claim 1 , wherein the PT-RS is associated with groups uniformly distributed within one data block.

10. The one or more non-transitory CRM of claim 1 , wherein the PT-RS is associated with a plurality of groups, and wherein at least one of the plurality of groups comprises a starting position based on a radio network temporary identifier.

11. A method for operating a user equipment (UE), comprising:

generating a phase tracking reference signal (PT-RS) for phase shift compensation; and

transmitting the PT-RS across a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) using a single carrier based waveform with frequency domain equalizer (SC-FDE),

wherein the generating the PT-RS includes:

partitioning a plurality of information bits into a first portion and a second portion;

encoding, after partitioning, the first portion and the second portion with different encoding schemes;

modulating and mapping the first portion to PT-RS samples; and

modulating and mapping the second portion to data samples.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the PT-RS is associated with groups uniformly distributed within one data block.

13. The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

applying an orthogonal cover code (OCC) for transmitting the PT-RS during multiple transmit-receive point (multi-TRP) or multiple panels operation, wherein the OCC is based on a plurality of demodulation reference signal (DMRS) antenna ports.

14. The method of claim 11 , wherein the single-carrier based waveform is Discrete Fourier Transform-spread-orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (DFT-s-OFDM) with a carrier frequency is in excess of 52.6 GHz.

15. A user equipment (UE), comprising:

processor circuitry configured to generate a phase tracking reference signal (PT-RS) for phase shift compensation; and

radio frequency front end circuitry configured to transmit the PT-RS across a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) using a single-carrier based waveform comprising a carrier frequency,
