Abstract

A first apparatus includes a processor, a memory, and communication circuitry. The first apparatus is connected to a communications network via its communication circuitry. The first apparatus further includes computer-executable instructions stored in the memory of the first apparatus which, when executed by the processor of the first apparatus, cause the first apparatus to: receive voice content or other biometric content of a user; prepare a message including the voice or other biometric content; send the message to the communications network or a second apparatus through a control plane of the communications network in order to authenticate and authorize the first apparatus and the user; receive a response message from the communications network or the second apparatus, wherein the response message includes authentication and authorization results for the first apparatus and identification information that identifies the user.

Claims (27)

1. A first apparatus, comprising:

a memory configured to store computer-executable instructions;

communication circuitry configured to connect the first apparatus to a communications network; and

a processor configured to execute the computer-executable instructions to cause the first apparatus to:

receive at least one of first voice content or first biometric content of a user;

prepare a message including the at least one of the first voice content or the first biometric content;

send the message to at least one of the communications network or a second apparatus through a control plane of the communications network to authenticate and authorize the first apparatus and the user;

receive a first response message from the at least one of the communications network or the second apparatus, wherein the first response message includes authentication and authorization results for the first apparatus and identification information that identifies the user; and

send a 5G message service request to the communications network based on the identification information that identifies the user, wherein

the 5G message service request includes at least one of second voice content or second biometric content of the identified user,

the second voice content is different from the first voice content, and

the second biometric content is different from the first biometric content.

2. The first apparatus of claim 1 , wherein

the 5G message service request triggers a secondary re-authentication and re-authorization process, and triggers delivery of a 5G message service message via the communications network, and

the first apparatus is configured to receive a second response message from the communications network.

3. The first apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the 5G message service request one of allows the first apparatus to discover whether a 5G message service is available in the communications network or causes the first apparatus to be authorized to use the 5G message service.

4. The first apparatus of claim 1 , wherein

at least one of an application server or a voice processing server performs the authentication of the user, and

the authentication of the user includes confirmation of at least one of:

an identity of the user that has inputted the first voice content; or

in a case where the first voice content is a voice command, the user that has inputted the voice command has rights to request an operation indicated in the voice command.

5. The first apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first apparatus is configured to send the message using a message service.

6. The first apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the control plane is a Non Access Stratum (NAS) transport.

7. The first apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first voice content is a voice command to actuate one of a device or a service.

8. The first apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first apparatus is configured to subscribe to and distribute the message through a NAS connection of the control plane via an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF).

9. The first apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the message includes at least one of a message ID, a message reference ID, a message type, a voice processor ID, a user ID, application information, a message management function ID, or a message gateway function ID.

10. The first apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first apparatus is a user equipment.
