Abstract

A traction tower assembly and traction tower scale. The traction tower assembly includes a tower assembly including a first tower having a first side surface and a second tower having a second side surface positioned adjacent to the first side surface, wherein the second tower is movable with respect to the first tower in a first direction and in a second direction; and an elongated arm assembly attached to and extending from the tower assembly.

Claims (20)

1. A traction tower assembly, comprising:

a base plate having a top outside surface extending in a first plane;

a first tower having a first outside surface and a first bottom outside surface connected to the top outside surface of the base plate, wherein the first bottom outside surface extends in a second plane parallel to the first plane, and a second tower having a second outside surface positioned adjacent to and in contacting relation with the first outside surface, wherein the second tower is movable with respect to the first tower in a first direction and in a second direction;

an elongated arm assembly attached to and extending from the tower assembly, wherein the arm assembly comprises a first arm having a first end and a second end, and a second arm having a first end and a second end; and

a rotation joint having a bottom surface, a top surface and a side surface, wherein the bottom surface is positioned on a second top surface of the second tower, and the first end of the first arm is positioned through the side surface of the rotation joint.

2. The traction tower assembly of claim 1 , wherein the second direction is opposite the first direction.

3. The traction tower assembly of claim 1 , further comprising an actuatable locking mechanism configured to releasably lock the second tower in place with respect to the first tower.

4. The traction tower assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first outside surface of the first tower defines a first geometric configuration and the second outside surface of the second tower defines a second geometric configuration, wherein the first geometric configuration is complimentary to the second geometric configuration.

5. The traction tower assembly of claim 4 , wherein the first geometric configuration further includes a first top surface of the first tower, wherein the first top surface of the first tower is opposite the first bottom outside surface of the first tower.

6. The traction tower assembly of claim 5 , wherein the second geometric configuration further includes a second bottom surface of the second tower.

7. The traction tower assembly of claim 1 ,

the first end of the first arm is connected to the tower assembly,

the second end of the first arm is connected to the first end of the second arm,

the first end of the second arm is moveable with respect to the second end of the first arm.

8. The traction tower assembly of claim 7 , wherein a portion of the second end of the first arm is tubular, and the first end of the second arm is moveable in a third direction and in a fourth direction within the second end of the first arm.

9. The traction tower assembly of claim 8 , further comprising an actuatable locking mechanism configured to releasably lock the second arm in place with respect to the first arm.

10. The traction tower assembly of claim 7 , further comprising a traction scale attached to the second end of the second arm, wherein the traction scale is configured to indicate a relative traction amount applied to a patients arm/wrist when in use.

11. The traction tower assembly of claim 1 , wherein the rotation joint includes a first axis positioned through a center of the top surface of the rotation joint and through a center of the bottom surface of the rotation joint, and wherein the rotation joint and the first end of the first arm are configured to rotate about the first axis with respect to the second tower.

12. The traction tower assembly of claim 11 , wherein the top surface and the bottom surface of the rotation joint are positioned in respective planes that positioned at an angle to the second plane of the first bottom outside surface of the first tower.

13. The traction tower assembly of claim 1 , wherein the rotation joint includes a first axis positioned through a center of the side surface of the rotation joint and through a center of the first end of the first arm, and wherein the first end of the first arm is configured to rotate about the first axis with respect to the rotation joint.
