Abstract

Systems, devices, and techniques for preemption indication in wireless communication systems are described. A described technique includes receiving, by a User Equipment (UE) via a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH), a downlink control information (DCI) message in a Control Resource Set (CORESET) configured with a transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state, the TCI state being associated with a transmission reception point (TRP), the DCI message comprising a downlink preemption indication for the TCI state; and applying preemption to a reference signal or a channel associated with the TCI state responsive to the downlink preemption indication.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein each INT-RNTI from the plurality of INT-RNTIs is used to scramble DCI messages in CORESETs from the respective CORESET group and configured with multiple TCI states.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the TCI state is associated with multiple panels of the TRP, multiple TRPs, or both.

5. The method of claim 1 , comprising:

receiving a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmission from multiple panels of the TRP, multiple TRPs, or both, wherein applying the preemption comprises ignoring one or more previously scheduled communications within the PDSCH transmission.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving the configuration information comprises receiving a radio resource control (RRC) that comprises the first INT-RNTI and the second INT-RNTI.

7. An apparatus comprising one or more processors configured to perform operations comprising:

receiving configuration information a) for downlink preemption monitoring and b) that comprises a plurality of radio network temporary identifiers (INT-RNTIs) each of which is associated with a respective CORESET group from a plurality of CORESET groups, the plurality of INT-RNTIs comprising a first INT-RNTI for a first CORESET group and a second INT-RNTI for a second CORESET group, the plurality of CORESET groups comprising the first CORESET group and the second CORESET group, wherein the configuration information for downlink preemption monitoring comprises one or more virtual cell identifiers (VCIDs) associated with preemption;

monitoring, for each CORESET from the plurality of CORESET groups and based on a respective INT-RNTI from the configuration information, the respective CORESET for a preemption indication;

receiving, via a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) and based at least on the monitoring of a CORESET belonging to a particular CORESET group of the plurality of CORESET groups, a downlink control information (DCI) message in a CORESET configured with a transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state, the TCI state being associated with a transmission reception point (TRP), the DCI message comprising a downlink preemption indication for the TCI state, wherein the DCI message indicates at least one of the VCIDs associated with preemption; and

applying preemption to one or more reference signals or channels corresponding to a plurality of CORESETs in the particular CORESET group associated with the TCI state responsive to the downlink preemption indication and based at least on the at least one of the VCIDs.

8. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the operations comprise:

monitoring for a preemption indication associated with multiple TCI states.

9. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein each INT-RNTI from the plurality of INT-RNTIs is used to scramble DCI messages in CORESETs from the respective CORESET group and configured with multiple TCI states.

10. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the TCI state is associated with multiple panels of the TRP, multiple TRPs, or both.

11. The apparatus of claim 7 , the operations comprising:

receiving a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmission from multiple panels of the TRP, multiple TRPs, or both, wherein applying the preemption comprises ignoring one or more previously scheduled communications within the PDSCH transmission.

12. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein receiving the configuration information comprises receiving a radio resource control (RRC) that comprises the first INT-RNTI and the second INT-RNTI.

13. One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing instructions that, when executed, cause one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
