Abstract

Systems, devices, and techniques for wideband operations in unlicensed spectrum are described. A described technique receiving, by a user equipment (UE), a schedule for transmitting on a Physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) over at least a portion of a plurality of listen-before-talk (LBT) subbands of a bandwidth part (BWP) in an unlicensed spectrum. The scheduled PUSCH bandwidth indicated by the schedule can be greater than a unit bandwidth of a LBT subband. The technique includes performing, by the UE, a LBT procedure on each scheduled LBT subband of the plurality of LBT subbands, each of the scheduled LBT subbands being associated with the scheduled PUSCH bandwidth. The technique includes performing, by the UE, a PUSCH transmission in accordance with the schedule that uses one or more of the scheduled LBT subbands that have passed the LBT procedure.

Claims (47)

1. A method comprising:

receiving a schedule for transmitting on a Physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) over at least a portion of a plurality of listen-before-talk (LBT) subbands of a bandwidth part (BWP) in an unlicensed spectrum, wherein a scheduled PUSCH bandwidth indicated by the schedule is greater than a unit bandwidth of a LBT subband;

performing a LBT procedure on each scheduled LBT subband of the plurality of LBT subbands to determine if each scheduled LBT subband passes the LBT procedure, wherein each scheduled LBT subband is associated with the scheduled PUSCH bandwidth; and

performing a PUSCH transmission in accordance with the schedule that uses one or more of the scheduled LBT subbands that have passed the LBT procedure,

wherein performing the LBT procedure comprises performing a Clear Channel Assessment (CCA) on each of the scheduled LBT subbands, and

wherein the method further comprises:

applying a guard band in a LBT subband based on a CCA outcome; and

transmitting an indication of whether the guard band has been applied.

2. The method of claim 1 , comprising:

performing the LBT procedure on an unscheduled LBT subband of the plurality of LBT subbands, the unscheduled LBT subband being adjacent to the scheduled LBT subbands; and

applying a guard band to an edge portion of one of the scheduled LBT subbands based on the unscheduled LBT subband failing the LBT procedure.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein performing the PUSCH transmission comprises puncturing or rate matching a part of the PUSCH transmission that overlaps with the guard band.

The method of claim 1 , wherein performing the LBT procedure on the scheduled LBT subbands comprises determining that a first LBT subband failed the LBT procedure and a second LBT subband passed the LBT procedure, the second LBT subband being adjacent to the first LBT subband, and wherein the method further comprises:

applying a guard band to an edge portion of the second LBT subband to protect the PUSCH transmission from interference from communications within the first LBT subband.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein performing the PUSCH transmission comprises puncturing or rate matching a part of the PUSCH transmission that overlaps with the guard band.

6. A user equipment (UE) comprising:

one or more processors;

a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

receiving a schedule for transmitting on a Physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) over at least a portion of a plurality of listen-before-talk (LBT) subbands of a bandwidth part (BWP) in an unlicensed spectrum, wherein a scheduled PUSCH bandwidth indicated by the schedule is greater than a unit bandwidth of a LBT subband;

performing a LBT procedure on each scheduled LBT subband of the plurality of LBT subbands to determine if each scheduled LBT subband passes the LBT procedure, wherein each scheduled LBT subband is associated with the scheduled PUSCH bandwidth; and

performing a PUSCH transmission in accordance with the schedule that uses one or more of the scheduled LBT subbands that have passed the LBT procedure,

wherein performing the LBT procedure comprises performing a Clear Channel Assessment (CCA) on each of the scheduled LBT subbands, and

wherein the operations further comprise:

applying a guard band in a LBT subband based on a CCA outcome; and

transmitting an indication of whether the guard band has been applied.

7. The UE of claim 6 , wherein the operations comprise:

performing the LBT procedure on an unscheduled LBT subband of the plurality of LBT subbands, the unscheduled LBT subband being adjacent to the scheduled LBT subbands; and

applying a guard band to an edge portion of one of the scheduled LBT subbands based on the unscheduled LBT subband failing the LBT procedure.

8. The UE of claim 7 , wherein performing the PUSCH transmission comprises puncturing or rate matching a part of the PUSCH transmission that overlaps with the guard band.

The UE of claim 6 , wherein performing the LBT procedure on the scheduled LBT subbands comprises determining that a first LBT subband failed the LBT procedure and a second LBT subband passed the LBT procedure, the second LBT subband being adjacent to the first LBT subband, wherein the operations comprise:

applying a guard band to an edge portion of the second LBT subband to protect the PUSCH transmission from interference from communications within the first LBT subband.

10. The UE of claim 9 , wherein performing the PUSCH transmission comprises puncturing or rate matching a part of the PUSCH transmission that overlaps with the guard band.

11. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing to perform operations comprising:

receiving a schedule for transmitting on a Physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) over at least a portion of a plurality of listen-before-talk (LBT) subbands of a bandwidth part (BWP) in an unlicensed spectrum, wherein a scheduled PUSCH bandwidth indicated by the schedule is greater than a unit bandwidth of a LBT subband;

performing a LBT procedure on each scheduled LBT subband of the plurality of LBT subbands to determine if each scheduled LBT subband passes the LBT procedure, wherein each scheduled LBT subband is associated with the scheduled PUSCH bandwidth; and

performing a PUSCH transmission in accordance with the schedule that uses one or more of the scheduled LBT subbands that have passed the LBT procedure,

wherein performing the LBT procedure comprises performing a Clear Channel Assessment (CCA) on each of the scheduled LBT subbands, and

wherein the operations further comprise:

applying a guard band in a LBT subband based on a CCA outcome; and

transmitting an indication of whether the guard band has been applied.

12. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 11 , the operations comprising:

performing the LBT procedure on an unscheduled LBT subband of the plurality of LBT subbands, the unscheduled LBT subband being adjacent to the scheduled LBT subbands; and

applying a guard band to an edge portion of one of the scheduled LBT subbands based on the unscheduled LBT subband failing the LBT procedure.

13. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein performing the PUSCH transmission comprises puncturing or rate matching a part of the PUSCH transmission that overlaps with the guard band.

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein performing the LBT procedure on the scheduled LBT subbands comprises determining that a first LBT subband failed the LBT procedure and a second LBT subband passed the LBT procedure, the second LBT subband being adjacent to the first LBT subband, the operations further comprising:

applying a guard band to an edge portion of the second LBT subband to protect the PUSCH transmission from interference from communications within the first LBT subband.

15. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein performing the PUSCH transmission comprises puncturing or rate matching a part of the PUSCH transmission that overlaps with the guard band.
