Abstract

A method for allocating channel resources for transmitting data by user equipment (UE), includes receiving a resource allocation specification for a PSCCH transmission on PSSCH resources. The resource allocation specifies a PSCCH decoding unit of N symbols by M PRBs. The decoding unit is larger than a resource element group (REG) associated with the PSSCH resources. The method includes causing transmission, by a transceiver, of the PSCCH transmission in using the decoding unit specified by the resource allocation specification.

Claims (32)

1. A method for allocating channel resources for transmitting data by user equipment (UE), the method comprising:

receiving a resource allocation specification for a Physical Sidelink Control Channel (PSCCH) transmission on Physical Sidelink Shared Channel (PSSCH) resources, wherein the resource allocation specifies a configuration of a PSCCH sub-channel in a PSSCH sub-channel, the PSCCH sub-channel including a first number of symbols and a second number of physical resource blocks (PRBs) within the PSSCH sub-channel, wherein, based on a third number of the PRBs in the PSSCH sub-channel, the PSCCH transmission is aggregated across one or more PSSCH sub-channels including the PSSCH sub-channel; and

transmitting the PSCCH transmission based on the resource allocation specification.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the resource allocation specification specifies that the PSCCH sub-channel starts at a beginning of a slot of the PSSCH resources.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein a first symbol of the PSCCH is replicated for symbols 0 and 1 of the PSSCH resources.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the transmission is configured for a New Radio (NR) Vehicle to Anything (V2X) Sidelink (SL) scenario.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising configuring PSCCH aggregation levels across consecutive PSSCH sub-channels.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising configuring PSCCH aggregation levels for allocation within a single PSSCH sub-channel, wherein the PSSCH sub-channel includes at least 20 PRBs.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the resource allocation specification further specifies a plurality of PSCCH sub-channels, wherein each PSCCH sub-channel corresponds to a different number of PRBs from each other PSCCH sub-channel.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the resource allocation specification further specifies a plurality of PSCCH sub-channels, wherein each PSCCH sub-channel corresponds to a complete coverage duration for sidelink PSCCH transmissions.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the resource allocation specification specifies at least one transmission parameter value for a PSCCH demodulation reference signal (DMRS) rate matching pattern, and wherein the method comprises:

selecting the at least one transmission parameter value for the rate matching pattern from a resource pool configuration of a system.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the at least one transmission parameter value comprises a selection of an interference measurement resource.

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the selection of the interference measurement resource is randomized.

12. The method of claim 9 , wherein the at least one transmission parameter value of the PSCCH DMRS rate matching pattern distinguishes the DMRS, wherein the method further comprises:

enabling a receiver of the transmission to resolve a collision on the PSCCH based on the at least one transmission parameter value that distinguishes the DMRS.

13. The method of claim 9 , wherein the transmission parameter value comprises a DMRS symbol definition configured to orthogonalize the transmission with respect to other transmissions by other devices.

14. The method of claim 13 , wherein the transmission parameter value specifies at least one of a frequency direction orthogonal cover code (FD-OCC) configuration, a time direction orthogonal cover code (TD-OCC) configuration, a cyclic shift, a frequency division multiplexing (FDM) configuration, a time division multiplexing (TDM) configuration, or a combination of any thereof.

15. The method of claim 13 , wherein the DMRS symbol definition is initialized with a random transmission parameter value.

16. A user equipment (UE) device, comprising:

a transceiver;

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

receiving a resource allocation specification for a Physical Sidelink Control Channel (PSCCH) transmission on Physical Sidelink Shared Channel (PSSCH) resources, wherein the resource allocation specifies a configuration of a PSCCH sub-channel in a PSSCH sub-channel, the PSCCH sub-channel including a first number of symbols and a second number of physical resource blocks (PRBs) within the PSSCH sub-channel, wherein, based on a third number of the PRBs in the PSSCH sub-channel, the PSCCH transmission is aggregated across one or more PSSCH sub-channels including the PSSCH sub-channel; and

transmitting, by the transceiver, the PSCCH transmission based on the resource allocation specification.

17. One or more processors in communication with memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

receiving a resource allocation specification for a Physical Sidelink Control Channel (PSCCH) transmission on Physical Sidelink Shared Channel (PSSCH) resources, wherein the resource allocation specifies a configuration of a PSCCH sub-channel in a PSSCH sub-channel, the PSCCH sub-channel including a first number of symbols and a second number of physical resource blocks (PRBs) within the PSSCH sub-channel, wherein, based on a third number of the PRBs in the PSSCH sub-channel, the PSCCH transmission is aggregated across one or more PSSCH sub-channels including the PSSCH sub-channel; and

causing the PSCCH transmission based on the resource allocation specification.

18. The one or more processors of claim 17 , wherein the resource allocation specification specifies that the PSCCH sub-channel starts at a beginning of a slot of the PSSCH resources.

19. The one or more processors of claim 17 , wherein a first symbol of the PSCCH is replicated on symbols 0 and 1 of the PSSCH resources.

20. The one or more processors of claim 17 , wherein the resource allocation specification specifies at least one transmission parameter value for a PSCCH demodulation reference signal (DMRS) rate matching pattern, and wherein the operations comprise:

selecting the at least one transmission parameter value for the rate matching pattern from a resource pool configuration of a system.
