Abstract

One or more methods of using simultaneous connectivity and conditional handover together. At least one of the methods includes transmitting, by a target base station, a reserved resource release command to a source; transmitting, by the source, a new handover (HO) command to update a list of conditional HO (CHO) candidate cells; and releasing, by the target base station, a reserved resource for the UE.

Claims (53)

1 - 27 . (canceled)

28 . A method comprising:

determining to execute a first conditional handover to a first target cell;

receiving a packet from a source cell while executing the first conditional handover, wherein the packet comprises a second handover command; and

performing an action based on a type of the second handover command.

29 . The method of claim 28 , wherein the type of the second handover command comprises: an additional command for a new conditional handover, a release command for the first conditional handover, or a legacy handover command.

30 . The method of claim 28 , wherein the second handover command is a new conditional handover command for a second target cell, and wherein the action comprises:

continuing execution of the first conditional handover; and

storing the new conditional handover command as another handover candidate.

31 . The method of claim 28 , wherein the second handover command is a release command for the first conditional handover, and wherein the action comprises stopping execution of the first conditional handover.

32 . The method of claim 28 , wherein the second handover command is a legacy handover command to a second target cell, and wherein the action comprises determining to execute the legacy handover or continuing to execute the first conditional handover.

33 . The method of claim 28 , wherein the determining to execute the legacy handover comprises:

stopping execution of the first conditional handover; and

executing the legacy handover to the second target cell.

34 . The method of claim 28 , the method further comprising:

determining failure of the first conditional handover; and

performing a second action responsive to the failure.

35 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the second action comprises:

maintaining a connection to the source cell; and

attempting to execute at least one other conditional handover.

36 . The method of claim 35 , wherein attempting to execute at least one other conditional handover comprises checking if an execution condition is met for existing conditional handover commands of other candidate cells.

37 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the second action comprises:

aborting the first conditional handover to that first target cell;

maintaining a connection to the source cell; and

wait for a new conditional handover command.

38 . A user equipment (UE) device comprising:

one or more processors configured to:

determining to execute a first conditional handover to a first target cell;

receiving a packet from a source cell while executing the first conditional handover, wherein the packet comprises a second handover command; and

performing an action based on a type of the second handover command.

39 . The UE of claim 38 , wherein the type of the second handover command comprises: an additional command for a new conditional handover, a release command for the first conditional handover, or a legacy handover command.

40 . The UE of claim 38 , wherein the second handover command is a new conditional handover command for a second target cell, and wherein the action comprises:

continuing execution of the first conditional handover; and

storing the new conditional handover command as another handover candidate.

41 . The UE of claim 38 , wherein the second handover command is a release command for the first conditional handover, and wherein the action comprises stopping execution of the first conditional handover.

42 . The UE of claim 38 , wherein the second handover command is a legacy handover command to a second target cell, and wherein the action comprises determining to execute the legacy handover or continuing to execute the first conditional handover.

43 . The UE of claim 38 , wherein the determining to execute the legacy handover comprises:

stopping execution of the first conditional handover; and

executing the legacy handover to the second target cell.

44 . The UE of claim 38 , the operations further comprising:

determining failure of the first conditional handover; and

performing a second action responsive to the failure.

45 . The UE of claim 44 , wherein the second action comprises:

maintaining a connection to the source cell; and

attempting to execute at least one other conditional handover.

46 . The method of claim 44 , wherein the second action comprises:

aborting the first conditional handover to that first target cell;

maintaining a connection to the source cell; and

wait for a new conditional handover command.

47 . One or more processors for a user equipment (UE) in a cellular communications network, the one or more processors configured to perform operations comprising:

determining to execute a first conditional handover to a first target cell;

receiving a packet from a source cell while executing the first conditional handover, wherein the packet comprises a second handover command; and

performing an action based on a type of the second handover command.
