Abstract

The present invention relates to a non-aqueous electrolyte solution for a lithium secondary battery and a lithium secondary battery including the same, and particularly, to a non-aqueous electrolyte solution for a lithium secondary battery which includes a fluorine-containing compound capable of forming a stable film on the surface of an electrode as an additive, and a lithium secondary battery including the same.

Claims (22)

1. A lithium secondary battery comprising a negative electrode, a positive electrode, a separator disposed between the negative electrode and the positive electrode, and a non-aqueous electrolyte solution,

wherein the negative electrode comprises a silicon-based active material; and

wherein the non-aqueous electrolyte solution comprises

a lithium salt,

an organic solvent, and

a first additive represented by Formula 1:

wherein, in Formula 1,

X is a linear or nonlinear unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and

R 1 is an alkylene group having 2 to 3 carbon atoms which is substituted with at least one fluorine atom, or an alkylene group having 2 to 3 carbon atoms which is substituted with an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms that includes at least one fluorine atom, provided when R 1 is an alkylene group having 2 carbon atoms, each of the 2 carbon atoms is substituted with no more than one fluorine atom.

The lithium secondary battery of claim 1 , wherein the silicon-based active material is at least one selected from the group consisting of silicon, an alloy with silicon, SiB 4 , SiB 6 , Mg 2 Si, Ni 2 Si, TiSi 2 , MoSi 2 , CoSi 2 , NiSi 2 , CaSi 2 , CrSi 2 , Cu 5 Si, FeSi 2 , MnSi 2 , NbSi 2 , TaSi 2 , VSi 2 , WSi 2 , ZnSi 2 , SiC, Si 3 N 4 , Si 2 N 2 O, SiO v (0.5≤v≤1.2), and LiSiO.

3. The lithium secondary battery of claim 1 , wherein the positive electrode comprises a lithium composite metal oxide.

4. The lithium secondary battery of claim 3 , wherein the lithium composite metal oxide comprises LiCoO 2 , LiMnO 2 , LiNiO 2 , lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide, or lithium nickel cobalt aluminum oxide.

5. The lithium secondary battery of claim 4 , wherein the lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide comprises Li(Ni 0.6 Mn 0.2 Co 0.2 )O 2 , Li(Ni 0.5 Mn 0.3 Co 0.2 )O 2 , Li(Ni 0.7 Mn 0.5 Co 0.15 )O 2 , Li(Ni 0.8 Mn 0.1 Co 0.1 )O 2 , or a mixture of two or more thereof.

The lithium secondary battery of claim 1 , the lithium salt comprises Li + , as a cation, and at least one of F − , Cl − , Br − , I − , NO 3 − , N(CN) 2 − , BF 4 − , ClO 4 − , AlO 4 − , AlCl 4 − , PF 6 − , SbF 6 − , AsF 6 − , BF 2 C 2 O 4 − , BC 4 O 8 − , (CF 3 ) 2 PF 4 − , (CF 3 ) 3 PF 3 − , (CF 3 ) 4 PF 2 − , (CF 3 ) 5 PF − , (CF 3 ) 6 P − , CF 3 SO 3 − , C 4 F 9 SO 3 − , CF 3 CF 2 SO 3 − , (CF 3 SO 2 ) 2 N − , (FSO 2 ) 2 N − , CF 3 CF 2 (CF 3 ) 2 CO − , (CF 3 SO 2 ) 2 CH − , CF 3 (CF 2 ) 7 SO 3 − , CF 3 CO 2 − , CH 3 CO 2 − , SCN − , or (CF 3 CF 2 SO 2 ) 2 N − as an anion.

7. The lithium secondary battery of claim 1 , wherein the lithium salt is included in a concentration of 0.8 M to 2.0 M in the non-aqueous electrolyte solution.

8. The lithium secondary battery of claim 1 , wherein the organic solvent comprises one selected from an ether-based solvent, an ester-based solvent, an amide-based solvent, or a mixture of two or more thereof.

9. The lithium secondary battery of claim 8 , wherein the ester-based solvent comprises at least one compound selected from a cyclic carbonate compound, a linear carbonate compound, a linear ester compound, or a cyclic ester compound.

The lithium secondary battery of claim 1 , wherein, in Formula 1, R 1 is an alkylene group having 2 carbon atoms which is substituted with one fluorine atom, or an alkylene group having 2 carbon atoms which is substituted with an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms that includes at least one fluorine atom.

11. The lithium secondary battery of claim 1 , wherein the first additive comprises at least one selected from compounds represented by Formulae 1b to 1d, 1f or 1h:

12. The lithium secondary battery of claim 1 , wherein the first additive is included in an amount of 0.1 wt % to 10 wt % based on a total weight of the non-aqueous electrolyte solution.

The lithium secondary battery of claim 1 , further comprising a second additive selected from vinylene carbonate, fluoroethylene carbonate, vinyl ethylene carbonate, cyclic sulfite, saturated sultone, unsaturated sultone, a non-cyclic sulfone, an alkylsilyl compound, an inorganic additive, or a combination thereof.

14. The lithium secondary battery of claim 13 , wherein the second additive is included in an amount of about 0.01 wt % or more based on a total amount of the non-aqueous electrolyte solution.
