Abstract

The present disclosure is directed toward systems and methods for an augmented reality transportation system. For example, the systems and methods described herein present an augmented reality environment for a driver or a passenger including augmented reality elements to mark specific locations within a display of real-world surroundings. Additionally, the systems and methods described herein analyze historical information to determine placements for augmented reality elements. The systems and methods also enable a user to share an augmented reality or virtual reality environment with another user.

Claims (31)

1. A method comprising:

determining a location of a transportation vehicle associated with a transportation driver selected to service a transportation request received from a requestor device within a transportation matching system;

generating, for display via a client device, an augmented reality no pickup location element that visually depicts, within a real-world environment visible via the client device, a designated area unfit for pickup by the transportation vehicle; and

providing the augmented reality no pickup location element for display via the client device to indicate a location of the designated area within a view of the real-world environment visible via the client device.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein generating the augmented reality no pickup location element comprises generating a visible three-dimensional shape for display at the designated area within the view of the real-world environment.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein generating the augmented reality no pickup location element for display via the client device comprises generating an augmented reality marker having dimensions indicated by global positioning system (GPS) coordinates corresponding to the designated area.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing, for display together with the augmented reality no pickup location element within the view of the real-world environment, an augmented reality pickup location element indicating a pickup location associated with the transportation request.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing, for display together with the augmented reality no pickup location element within the view of the real-world environment, one or more augmented reality pickup location route elements indicating a route for a requestor associated with the requestor device to travel to a pickup location for the transportation request.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein generating the augmented reality no pickup location element comprises generating the augmented reality no pickup location element in a color assigned to the transportation request.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing, for display together with the augmented reality no pickup location element, an augmented reality passenger location element indicating a location of a passenger associated with the requester device within the view of the real-world environment.

8. A system comprising:

at least one processor; and

a non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the system to:

determine a location of a transportation vehicle associated with a transportation driver selected to service a transportation request received from a requestor device within a transportation matching system;

generate, for display via a client device, an augmented reality no pickup location element that visually depicts, within a real-world environment visible via the client device, a designated area unfit for pickup by the transportation vehicle; and

provide the augmented reality no pickup location element for display via the client device to indicate a location of the designated area within a view of the real-world environment visible via the client device.

9. The system of claim 8 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the system to generate the augmented reality no pickup location element by generating a visible three-dimensional shape for display at the designated area within the view of the real-world environment.

10. The system of claim 8 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the system to generate the augmented reality no pickup location element for display via the client device by generating an augmented reality marker having dimensions indicated by global positioning system (GPS) coordinates corresponding to the designated area.

11. The system of claim 8 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the system to provide, for display together with the augmented reality no pickup location element within the view of the real-world environment, an augmented reality pickup location element indicating a pickup location associated with the transportation request.

12. The system of claim 8 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the system to provide, for display together with the augmented reality no pickup location element within the view of the real-world environment, one or more augmented reality pickup location route elements indicating a route for a requestor associated with the requestor device to travel to a pickup location for the transportation request.

13. The system of claim 8 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the system to generate the augmented reality no pickup location element by generating the augmented reality no pickup location element in a color assigned to the transportation request.

14. The system of claim 8 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the system to determine the location of the transportation vehicle by receiving location information from a driver device associated with the transportation driver of the transportation vehicle.

15. A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, cause a computing device to:

determine a location of a transportation vehicle associated with a transportation driver selected to service a transportation request received from a requestor device within a transportation matching system;

generate, for display via a client device, an augmented reality no pickup location element that visually depicts, within a real-world environment visible via the client device, a designated area unfit for pickup by the transportation vehicle; and

provide the augmented reality no pickup location element for display via the client device to indicate a location of the designated area within a view of the real-world environment visible via the client device.

16. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 15 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the computing device to generate the augmented reality no pickup location element by generating a visible three-dimensional shape for display at the designated area within the view of the real-world environment.

17. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 15 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the computing device to generate the augmented reality no pickup location element for display via the client device by generating an augmented reality marker having dimensions indicated by global positioning system (GPS) coordinates corresponding to the designated area.

18. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 15 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the computing device to provide, for display together with the augmented reality no pickup location element within the view of the real-world environment, an augmented reality pickup location element indicating a pickup location associated with the transportation request.

19. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 15 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the computing device to provide, for display together with the augmented reality no pickup location element within the view of the real-world environment, one or more augmented reality pickup location route elements indicating a route for a requestor associated with the requestor device to travel to a pickup location for the transportation request.

20. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 15 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the computing device to generate the augmented reality no pickup location element by generating the augmented reality no pickup location element in a color assigned to the transportation request.
