Abstract

Examples disclosed herein relate to a directed reflect array with a tiled configuration for fixed wireless applications. The directed reflect array includes a substrate and a plurality of reflective tiles disposed on the substrate, wherein the plurality of reflective tiles are individually arranged to produce a directed radiation pattern that is directed toward a target reflection point based at least on a reflection phase of one or more reflective tiles in the plurality of reflective tiles. Other examples disclosed herein relate to a method of configuring a directed reflect array and a wireless network system that includes a directed reflect array.

Claims (30)

1 . A reflect array, comprising:

a plurality of reflective tiles configured to produce, upon reflection of an incoming signal, a radiation pattern directed toward a target reflection area, wherein at least a portion of the plurality of reflective tiles includes spaces of different dimensions between reflective tiles.

2 . The reflect array of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of reflective tiles comprises at least a portion of tiles of different dimensions.

3 . The reflect array of claim 1 , wherein the target reflection area is identified by an angle in azimuth and an angle in elevation from the reflect array to the target reflection area.

4 . The reflect array of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of reflective tiles comprises multiple subarrays that are configured to redirect the incoming signal to multiple directions.

5 . The reflect array of claim 1 , wherein each tile of the plurality of reflective tiles and each space between the reflective tiles are dimensioned and positioned to achieve a specific phase shift of the incoming signal.

6 . The reflect array of claim 1 , wherein the reflect array is coupled to a wireless transceiver configured to communicate with a communication network.

7 . The reflect array of claim 1 , wherein at least one reflective tile of the plurality of reflective tiles comprises multiple layers comprising a layer of conductive material and a layer of non-conductive material.

8 . A method of calibrating a reflect array, comprising:

calculating a reflection phase for at least one reflection element of a plurality of reflection elements of the reflect array, wherein the calculating comprises applying weights to a calculation of the at least one reflection element in the plurality of reflection elements;

determining a configuration of the plurality of reflection elements in the reflect array based on the calculated reflection phase; and

calibrating the reflect array based on a determined accuracy of the configuration.

9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the calculated reflection phase is a first calculated reflection phase, the method further comprising:

calculating a second reflection phase for at least another reflection element of the plurality of reflection elements of the reflect array.

10 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

determining a correction of the calculated reflection phase when the determined accuracy is below a threshold accuracy.

11 . The method of claim 8 , wherein determining the configuration of the plurality of reflection elements comprises determining an arrangement of the plurality of reflection elements in the reflect array.

12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein determining the arrangement of the plurality of reflection elements comprises determining a number of reflect array elements based on the calculated reflection phase.

13 . A wireless network system, comprising:

a reflect array comprising a plurality of reflective structures, the plurality of reflective structures having spaces between reflective structures, wherein each reflective structure of the plurality of reflective structures and each space between reflective structures are dimensioned and positioned to apply a specific phase shift to an incoming signal.

14 . The wireless network system of claim 13 , wherein at least some of the spaces between reflective structures have different dimensions.

15 . The wireless network system of claim 13 , further comprising:

a phase control component coupled to at least one reflective structure of the plurality of reflective structures.

16 . The wireless network system of claim 13 , wherein at least one reflective structure of the plurality of reflective structures is configured to produce a reflection phase.

17 . The wireless network system of claim 16 , further comprising:

a control module configured to adjust the reflection phase of the at least one reflective structure of the plurality of reflective structures.

18 . The wireless network system of claim 13 , further comprising:

a wireless transceiver configured to communicate with a communication network.

19 . The wireless network system of claim 13 , wherein at least one reflective structure of the plurality of reflective structures comprises a layer of conductive material and a layer of non-conductive material.

20 . The wireless network system of claim 13 , wherein the reflect array is configured to reflect the incoming signal from a transmission source to a target reflection area.
