Layer resetting in two-step random-access procedures
A wireless device receives one or more messages including one or more configuration parameters of a cell. The one or more configuration parameters indicate physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) resources for transmission of a message A (MsgA) payload of a two-step random-access procedure of the cell. A medium access control (MAC) layer of the wireless device is reset based on a request from a radio resource control (RRC) layer of the wireless device. The PUSCH resources are released based on the reset of the MAC layer.
1. A method comprising:
receiving, by a wireless device, one or more messages comprising one or more configuration parameters of a cell, wherein the one or more configuration parameters indicate physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) resources for transmission of a message A (MsgA) payload of a two-step random-access procedure of the cell;
resetting a medium access control (MAC) layer of the wireless device based on a request from a radio resource control (RRC) layer of the wireless device; and
clearing the PUSCH resources of the two-step random-access procedure based on:
the resetting the MAC layer; and
the configuration parameters indicating the PUSCH resources for the MsgA transmission of the two-step random-access procedure.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more configuration parameters are for a random-access procedure of the cell.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the cell is an unlicensed cell.
4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the two-step random-access procedure is a contention-free two-step random-access procedure.
5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the contention-free two-step random-access procedure is not initiated for a beam failure recovery procedure of the cell.
6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the clearing the PUSCH resources comprises stopping transmitting, via a PUSCH resource of the PUSCH resources, the MsgA payload.
7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more configuration parameters further indicate one or more uplink grants associated with the PUSCH resources.
8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the clearing the PUSCH resources comprises not transmitting, via an uplink grant of the one or more uplink grants, the MsgA payload.
9. The method of claim 7 , wherein the clearing the PUSCH resources comprises stopping transmitting, via an uplink grant of the one or more uplink grants, the MsgA payload.
10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the clearing the PUSCH resources comprises releasing a configuration of the PUSCH resources.
11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the PUSCH resources comprise one or more random-access channel (RACH) resources.
12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the clearing the PUSCH resources comprise discarding the one or more RACH resources based on the resetting the MAC layer.
13. The method of claim 11 , wherein a RACH resource of the one or more RACH resources comprises:
a preamble; and
a RACH occasion.
14. The method of claim 13 , further comprising transmitting the preamble via the RACH occasion.
15. The method of claim 13 , wherein the RACH resource is mapped to an uplink grant.
16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the uplink grant is one of one or more uplink grants further indicated by the one or more configuration parameters.
17. The method of claim 15 , wherein the one or more configuration parameters further indicate the mapping between the RACH resource and the uplink grant.
18. The method of claim 15 , wherein the RACH resource being mapped to the uplink grant comprises:
the RACH occasion being mapped to the uplink grant; or
the preamble being mapped to the uplink grant.
19. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more messages comprise one or more radio resource configuration messages.
20. The method of claim 1 , wherein the resetting the MAC layer comprises resetting a MAC entity of the wireless device.
