Abstract

A conference system transmits a first graphical output to display an indicator of a conference item on a display of a client device. Prior to the client device joining the conference, the conference system receives a request to view the conference item. The conference system transmits a second graphical output to the client device to display the conference item.

Claims (67)

1. A method, comprising:

facilitating a first conference that includes a client device;

obtaining a conference item associated with a second conference that is in progress;

during the first conference and prior to the client device connecting to the second conference without joining the second conference:

detecting an initiation of a screen share in the second conference;

determining that a substantive portion of the second conference has started based on the screen share, the substantive portion of the second conference associated with an agenda item;

transmitting a notification to the client device that indicates that the substantive portion of the second conference has started;

transmitting, to the client device, a first graphical output for display on a panel interface associated with the second conference, the panel interface having a first portion and is expandable to display a second portion;

receiving, at a server, a request from the client device to view the conference item; and

transmitting, from the server, a second graphical output to the client device based on the request to display the conference item on the second portion of the panel interface prior to the client device connecting to the second conference, wherein the second portion is an expanded portion of the panel interface to display the conference item.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the conference item is an editable document.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the conference item is an editable document, the method comprising:

transmitting a notification to participant client devices, wherein the notification indicates that the editable document has been modified.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the conference item is at least one of an agenda, a real-time transcript, a downloadable file, or a real-time presentation.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the panel interface is a persistent panel that remains in view at all times on a display of the client device.

6. The method of claim 1 , comprising:

detecting a voice in an audio portion of the second conference;

converting the voice to text;

comparing the text to the conference item, wherein the conference item is an agenda; and

determining that a substantive portion of the second conference has started based on the comparison.

7. The method of claim 1 , first graphical output is displayed on the first portion of the panel interface.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second portion of the panel interface includes a thumbnail indicator that is a graphical representation of the conference item.

9. A system, comprising:

a server configured to:

facilitate a first conference that includes a client device;

obtain a conference item associated with a second conference that is in progress;

detect an initiation of a screen share in the second conference;

determine that a substantive portion of the second conference has started based on the screen share, the substantive portion of the second conference associated with an agenda item;

transmit a notification to the client device that indicates that the substantive portion of the second conference has started; and

transmit, during the first conference, a first graphical output based on the conference item prior to the client device connecting to the second conference;

a client device configured to display the first graphical output on a panel interface associated with the second conference prior to the client device connecting to the second conference without joining the second conference, the panel interface having a first portion and expandable to display a second portion;

during the conference and prior to the client device joining the second conference, the server configured to:

receive a request from the client device to view the conference item; and

transmit a second graphical output to the client device based on the request; and

prior to the client device joining the second conference, the client device configured to:

display the conference item on the second portion of the panel interface, wherein the second portion is an expanded portion of the panel interface.

10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the server is configured to:

detect a voice in an audio portion of the second conference;

convert the voice to text;

compare the text to the conference item, wherein the conference item is an agenda; and

determine that a substantive portion of the second conference has started based on the comparison.

11. The system of claim 9 , wherein the

panel interface is a persistent panel that remains in view at all times on a display of the client device.

12. The system of claim 9 , wherein the second portion of the panel interface includes a thumbnail indicator that is a graphical representation of the conference item.

13. The system of claim 9 , wherein the second portion of the panel interface includes a thumbnail indicator that is a graphical representation of the conference item, and wherein the thumbnail indicator is at least one of an icon or a text representation of the conference item.

14. The system of claim 9 , wherein the conference item is an editable document, the server configured to:

transmit a notification to participant client devices, wherein the notification indicates that the editable document has been modified.

15. The system of claim 9 , wherein the conference item is at least one of an agenda, a real-time transcript, a downloadable file, or a real-time presentation.

16. A non-transitory computer-readable storage device including program instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations, the operations comprising:

facilitating a first conference that includes a client device;

obtaining a conference item associated with a second conference that is in progress;

during the first conference and prior to the client device connecting to the second conference without joining the second conference:

detecting an initiation of a screen share in the second conference;

determining that a substantive portion of the second conference has started based on the screen share, the substantive portion of the second conference associated with an agenda item;

transmitting a notification to the client device that indicates that the substantive portion of the second conference has started;

transmitting a first graphical output for display on a panel interface associated with the second conference, the panel interface having a first portion and expandable to display a second portion;

receiving, at a server, a request from the client device to view the conference item; and

transmitting, from the server, a second graphical output to the client device to display the conference item on the second portion of the panel interface prior to the client device connecting to the second conference, wherein the second portion is an expanded portion of the panel interface to display the conference item.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable storage device of claim 16 , wherein the program

panel interface is a persistent panel that remains in view at all times on a display of the client device.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable storage device of claim 16 , wherein the program instructions, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations, the operations comprising:

detecting a voice in an audio portion of the second conference;

converting the voice to text;

comparing the text to the conference item, wherein the conference item is an agenda; and

determining that a substantive portion of the second conference has started based on the comparison.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable storage device of claim 16 , wherein the second portion of the panel interface includes a thumbnail indicator that is a graphical representation of the conference item.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable storage device of claim 19 , wherein the second portion of the panel interface includes a thumbnail indicator that is a graphical representation of the conference item, and wherein the thumbnail indicator is at least one of an icon or a text representation of the conference item.
