Abstract

A flexible adhesive tape platform includes: a flexible substrate; a flexible cover layer covering the flexible substrate; a rechargeable battery between the flexible substrate and the flexible cover layer; a device layer between the flexible substrate and the flexible cover layer; a flexible circuit between the flexible substrate and the flexible cover layer connecting components of the device layer and the rechargeable battery; and a wireless charging circuit coupled to the rechargeable battery configured to charge the rechargeable battery when exposed to an electromagnetic field generated by a wireless charging device.

Claims (46)

1. A flexible adhesive tape platform comprising:

a flexible substrate;

a flexible cover layer covering the flexible substrate;

a rechargeable battery between the flexible substrate and the flexible cover layer;

a device layer between the flexible substrate and the flexible cover layer comprising:

a processor,

a memory coupled to the processor, and

a first type of wireless communication antenna and interface;

a flexible circuit between the flexible substrate and the flexible cover layer connecting components of the device layer and the rechargeable battery; and

a wireless charging circuit coupled to the rechargeable battery configured to charge the rechargeable battery when exposed to an electromagnetic field generated by a wireless charging device;

a visual guide visible on an upper surface, opposite a bottom adhesive layer, of the flexible adhesive tape platform that guides positioning of a wireless charger to interface with the wireless charging circuit.

2. The flexible adhesive tape platform of claim 1 , wherein the wireless charging circuit is configured to be charged using a wireless charging protocol comprising one or more of: wireless inductive coupling, resonant inductive coupling, capacitive coupling, far field wireless charging methods, wireless RF power delivery.

3. The flexible adhesive tape platform of claim 1 , wherein the flexible adhesive tape platform is configured to be adhered to an asset and track the asset.

4. The flexible adhesive tape platform of claim 3 , wherein the flexible adhesive tape platform is configured to be wirelessly recharged by the wireless charging device without being detached from the asset.

5. A flexible adhesive tape platform comprising:

a flexible substrate;

a flexible cover layer covering the flexible substrate;

a rechargeable battery between the flexible substrate and the flexible cover layer;

a device layer between the flexible substrate and the flexible cover layer comprising:

a processor,

a memory coupled to the processor, and

a first type of wireless communication antenna and interface;

a flexible circuit between the flexible substrate and the flexible cover layer connecting components of the device layer and the rechargeable battery; and

a solar panel coupled to the battery for charging the rechargeable battery;

a wireless transducing circuit having a communication system in wireless communication with a light source; wherein the wireless transmission circuit cooperates with the light source to cause the light source to automatically start shining light on the solar panel when a power level of the rechargeable battery is low.

6. The flexible adhesive tape platform of claim 5 , wherein the flexible adhesive tape platform is configured to be adhered to an asset and track the asset.

7. The flexible adhesive tape platform of claim 6 , wherein the flexible adhesive tape platform is configured to be charged by a light source generating light incident on the solar panel, without the adhesive tape platform being detached from the asset.

8. A method for charging a plurality of wireless IOT devices comprising:

gathering a group of wireless IOT devices, each wireless IOT device comprising a wireless charging circuit for charging a rechargeable battery of the respective wireless IOT device;

placing the group of wireless IOT devices in a charging bin, the charging bin comprising one or more wireless chargers;

activating the one or more wireless chargers to wirelessly deliver electrical power to the wireless charging circuit of each of the wireless IOT devices;

receiving a battery level of each of the wireless IOT devices;

responsive to one or more of the wireless IOT devices having a battery level that is above a high threshold, removing the one or more wireless IOT devices; and

continuing to wirelessly charge remaining wireless IOT devices of the group of wireless IOT devices in the charging bind;

prior to the continuing to wirelessly charge remaining wireless IOT devices, randomizing an orientation of the remaining wireless IOT devices, wherein the randomizing comprises shaking a compartment of the charging bin to randomly re-orient the remaining wireless IOT devices.

9. The method of claim 8 , further comprising after the removing the one or more wireless IOT devices, placing additional wireless IOT devices that need charging in the charging bin.

10. The method of claim 8 , wherein each of the group of wireless IOT devices are placed in a rack that orient the wireless IOT devices in alignment with one of the one or more wireless chargers.

11. The method of claim 8 , wherein the one or more wireless charges use a wireless charging protocol comprising one or more of: wireless inductive coupling, resonant inductive coupling, capacitive coupling, far field wireless charging methods, wireless RF power delivery.

12. The method of claim 8 , wherein a client device receives the battery level of each of the wireless IOT devices.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the battery level of each of the wireless IOT devices is displayed in a user interface of a client app on the client device.

14. The method of claim 12 , further comprising:

responsive to one or more of the wireless IOT devices having a battery level that is above a high threshold, displaying instructions on the client device for a human operator to remove the one or more wireless IOT devices from the charging bin.

15. The flexible adhesive tape platform of claim 1 , further comprising:

a wireless transducing circuit having a communication system;

wherein the flexible adhesive tape platform wirelessly transmits a confirmation to another wireless node when a battery level of the rechargeable battery is above a threshold.

16. The flexible adhesive tape platform of claim 5 , wherein the flexible adhesive tape platform wirelessly transmits a confirmation to another wireless node when a battery level of the rechargeable battery is above a threshold.
