Abstract

Devices for low distraction operation of a bike rider group and methods for performing same. A device installed in a bike carrying a member of a bike rider group acting as self-rider, may comprise a rider input analyzer module configured to analyze a self-input provided by the self-rider and to provide a data element reflecting the self-input, a radio modem for sending a V2X message that includes the data element reflecting the self-input and for receiving V2X message that includes a data element from a remote member of the bike rider group, an alert analyzer module configured to detect an alert relevant to the self-rider based on the data element reflecting the self-input and on the data element received from the remote member, and a display configured to display the alert relevant to the self-rider with minimal distraction to the self-rider.

Claims (17)

1 . A device installed in a bike carrying a member of a bike rider group acting as self-rider, the device comprising:

a rider input analyzer module configured to analyze a self-input provided by the self-rider and to provide a data element reflecting the self-input;

a radio modem for sending a vehicle-to-everything (V2X) message that includes the data element reflecting the self-input and for receiving a V2X message that includes a data element from a remote member of the bike rider group;

an alert analyzer module configured to detect an alert relevant to the self-rider based on the data element reflecting the self-input and on the data element received from the remote member of the bike rider group; and

a display configured to display the alert relevant to the self-rider with minimal distraction to the self-rider.

2 . The device of claim 1 , further comprising a software stack module configured to process the data element reflecting the self-input and the data element received from the remote member of the bike rider group.

3 . The device of claim 1 , further comprising means configured to provide the self-input.

4 . The device of claim 1 , further comprising a group control module for managing a list of riders in the bike rider group.

5 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the self-alert or the remote alert include a SOS alert.

6 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the self-alert or the remote alert include a departing member alert.

8 . The device of claim 3 , wherein the means are means configured to provide the self-input through a duration of a click action using a button of the device.

9 . A method, comprising: in a bike carrying a member of a bike rider group acting as self-rider:

detecting an alert relevant to the self-rider based on a data element reflecting a self-input provided by the self-rider and on a data element received from another member of the bike rider group using vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications; and

displaying the alert relevant to the self-rider with minimal distraction to the self-rider.

10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the self-input is provided by the self-rider by clicking for a predetermined duration on a button of a device running the method.

11 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the data element reflecting a self-input is provided by analyzing the self-input in a rider input analyzer module.

12 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the displaying the alert relevant to the self-rider with minimal distraction to the self-rider includes displaying the alert on a display of a device running the method.
