Abstract

A computing system can receive a transaction data set from a computing device of a merchant, which can indicate a transaction between the merchant and a user of a network transaction service. The system verifies the user's location at a merchant location associated with the merchant, and then funds the transaction from a shared funding source of the network transaction service. Subsequently, the computing system can access a customer account of the user to reimburse the shared funding account for an amount corresponding to the transaction.

Claims (38)

1. A computing system implementing a network transaction service, the computing system comprising:

a network communication interface to communicate, over one or more networks, with (i) computing devices of users of the network transaction service, and (ii) computing devices of merchants registered with the network transaction service;

one or more processors; and

a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the computing system to:

receive, over the one or more networks, a transaction data set from a computing device of a merchant, the transaction data set indicating an amount of a transaction between the merchant and a user of the network transaction service;

access, over the one or more networks, location data from a computing device of the user to verify that a location of the user corresponds to a merchant location associated with the merchant;

based on the transaction data set, execute a first transfer operation to transfer funds from a shared funding source of the network transaction service to a funding account of the merchant in the amount of the transaction;

transmit, over the one or more networks, a communication to a service application executing on the computing device of the user, the communication identifying the transaction, the communication generating, upon a graphic user interface of the computing device of the user, a request for an electronic signature that indicates approval of the transaction; and

responsive to receiving the approval in accordance with the electronic signature of the user, execute a second transfer operation by accessing a customer account of the user to transfer the amount of the transaction from the customer account to the shared funding source of the network transaction service.

2. The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the communication enables the user to verify the transaction between the user and the merchant.

3. The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the executed instructions further cause the computing system to include an electronic receipt for the transaction in the communication.

4. The computing system of claim 3 , wherein the electronic receipt is rendered on the graphical user interface of the computing device of the user prior to the request for the electronic signature that indicates approval of the transaction.

5. The computing system of claim 4 , wherein the electronic receipt further enables the user to supplement the amount of the transaction with an additional amount.

6. The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the executed instructions further cause the computing system to verify the merchant location associated with the merchant prior to executing the first transfer operation.

The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the executed instructions cause the computing system to implement one or more security operations for the funding account of the merchant, the one or more security operations precluding use of the funding account of the merchant at any location other than the merchant location.

8. A non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:

receive, over one or more networks, a transaction data set from a computing device of a merchant, the transaction data set indicating an amount of a transaction between the merchant and a user of a network transaction service;

access, over the one or more networks, location data from a computing device of the user to verify that a location of the user corresponds to a merchant location associated with the merchant;

based on the transaction data set, execute a first transfer operation to transfer funds from a shared funding source of the network transaction service to a funding account of the merchant in the amount of the transaction;

transmit, over the one or more networks, a communication to a service application executing on the computing device of the user, the communication identifying the transaction, the communication generating, upon a graphic user interface of the computing device of the user, a request for an electronic signature that indicates approval of the transaction; and

responsive to receiving the approval in accordance with the electronic signature of the user, execute a second transfer operation by accessing a customer account of the user to transfer the amount of the transaction from the customer account to the shared funding source of the network transaction service.

9. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the communication enables the user to verify the transaction between the user and the merchant.

10. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the executed instructions further cause the one or more processors to include an electronic receipt for the transaction in the communication.

11. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the electronic receipt is generated on the graphical user interface of the computing device of the user prior to the request for the electronic signature that indicates approval of the transaction.

12. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the electronic receipt further enables the user to supplement the amount of the transaction with an additional amount.

13. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the executed instructions further cause the one or more processors to verify the merchant location associated with the merchant prior to executing the first transfer operation.

The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the executed instructions cause the one or more processors to implement one or more security operations for the funding account of the merchant, the one or more security operations precluding use of the funding account of the merchant at any location other than the merchant location.

15. A computer-implemented method of managing a network transaction service, the method being performed by one or more processors and comprising:

receiving, over one or more networks, a transaction data set from a computing device of a merchant, the transaction data set indicating an amount of a transaction between the merchant and a user of a network transaction service;

accessing, over the one or more networks, location data from a computing device of the user to verify that a location of the user corresponds to a merchant location associated with the merchant;

based on the transaction data set, executing a first transfer operation to transfer funds from a shared funding source of the network transaction service to a funding account of the merchant in the amount of the transaction;

transmitting, over the one or more networks, a communication to a service application executing on the computing device of the user, the communication identifying the transaction, the communication generating, upon a graphic user interface of the computing device of the user, a request for an electronic signature that indicates approval of the transaction; and

responsive to receiving the approval in accordance with the electronic signature of the user, executing a second transfer operation by accessing a customer account of the user to transfer the amount of the transaction from the customer account to the shared funding source of the network transaction service.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the communication enables the user to verify the transaction between the user and the merchant.

17. The method of claim 15 , wherein the one or more processors include an electronic receipt for the transaction in the communication.

18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the electronic receipt is generated on the graphical user interface of the computing device of the user prior to the request for the electronic signature that indicates approval of the transaction.

19. The method of claim 18 , wherein the electronic receipt further enables the user to supplement the amount of the transaction with an additional amount.

20. The method of claim 15 , wherein the one or more processors verify the merchant location associated with the merchant prior to executing the first transfer operation.
