Abstract

One of a transmitting array antenna and a receiving array antenna includes a first antenna group and a second antenna group. The first antenna group includes one or more first antenna elements of which the phase centers of the antenna elements are laid out at each first layout spacing following a first axis direction, and a shared antenna element. The second antenna group includes a plurality of second antenna elements and the one shared antenna element, and the phase centers of the antenna elements are laid out in two columns at each second layout spacing following a second axis direction that is different from the first axis direction. The phase centers of the antenna elements included in each of the two columns differ from each other regarding position in the second axis direction.

Claims (26)

1. A radar device, comprising:

a radar transmitting circuit that transmits radar signals from a transmitting array antenna; and

a radar receiving circuit that receives returning wave signals, where the radar signals have been reflected at a target, from a receiving array antenna,

wherein one of the transmitting array antenna or the receiving array antenna includes a first antenna group and a second antenna group,

wherein the first antenna group includes one or more first antenna elements and a shared antenna element, phase centers of antenna elements of the first antenna group are laid out at a first layout spacing or a second layout spacing in a first axial direction, and the second layout spacing is smaller than the first layout spacing,

wherein the second antenna group includes a plurality of second antenna elements and the shared antenna element, phase centers of all antenna elements of the second antenna group are laid out in different positions in a second axial direction different from the first axial direction, and phase centers of at least two antenna elements of the second antenna group are laid out in the same position in the first axial direction,

wherein the other of the transmitting array antenna or the receiving array antenna includes a third antenna group,

wherein the third antenna group includes a plurality of third antenna elements and one or more fourth antenna elements,

wherein phase centers of the third antenna elements are laid out in a plurality of columns along the first axis direction, at a third layout spacing that is smaller than the second layout spacing, and

wherein phase centers of the one or more fourth antenna elements are laid out positions different from that of the third antenna elements in the first axial direction and the second axial direction.

2. The radar device according to claim 1 , wherein

the phase centers of the at least two antenna elements of the second antenna group are laid out at a fourth layout spacing in the second axial direction.

3. The radar device according to claim 2 , wherein

the phase centers of the third antenna elements are laid out at a fifth layout spacing larger than the fourth layout spacing in the second axial direction.

4. The radar device according to claim 3 , wherein

the phase centers of the one or more fourth antenna elements are laid out at a spacing larger than the third layout spacing in the first axial direction and are laid out at a spacing smaller than the fifth layout spacing in the second axial direction, from a phase center of any one of the third antenna elements.

5. The radar device according to claim 3 , wherein

the fourth layout spacing and the fifth layout spacing are integral multiples of a first spacing, and the first spacing is 0.3 wavelengths or longer and 2 wavelengths or shorter, with a wavelength of the radar signals as a reference.

6. The radar device according to claim 1 , wherein

an antenna element closest to the shared antenna element is any one of the plurality of second antenna elements.

7. The radar device according to claim 1 , wherein

the second layout spacing is a spacing between a phase center of the shared antenna element and a phase center of one antenna element of the first antenna group.

8. The radar device according to claim 1 , wherein

the first layout spacing, the second layout spacing, and the third layout spacing are integral multiples of a first spacing, and the first spacing is 0.3 wavelengths or longer and 2 wavelengths or shorter, with a wavelength of the radar signals as a reference.

9. The radar device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the first axial direction and the second axial direction are orthogonal to each other.
