Abstract

The invention provides for a diagnostic test to monitor cancer-specific genetic abnormalities to diagnose cervical cell disorders and predict which patients might progress to cancer. Genetic abnormalities are detected by identification in chromosomal copy number of chromosome 3 and chromosome 5 using FISH analysis of probes targeted to 3q and/or 5p.

36 . A composition consisting of a plurality of amplification primer pairs, wherein each primer pair individually amplifies a chromosomal location selected from:

(a) at least one of LRRIQ4, LRRC31, SAMD7, LOC100128164, SEC62, GPR160, PHC3, or PRKCI; and

(b) either CEP3 or CEN7; and

(c) at least one of ADCY2, C5orf49, FASTKD3, MTRR, SEMA5A, SNORD123, TAS2R1, LOC285692, FAM173B, CCT5, CMBL, MARCH6, ROPNIL, DAP, or CTNND2; and

optionally, wherein the chromosomal location further consists of 20q13.

37 . The composition of claim 36 , wherein (a) is LRRIQ4.

38 . The composition of claim 36 , wherein (a) is LRRC31.

39 . The composition of claim 36 , wherein (a) is SAMD7.
