Abstract

A notification builder implemented through a graphical user interface (“GUI”) provides a platform for building notifications and defining priorities for how the notifications will be presented to users of managed devices. Elements included in the notification builder and selectable as part of a build process can provide options for naming a notification, providing content for the notification, defining recipients, setting a respective priority, and creating action buttons. An action button can allow a user that has received a notification built with the notification builder to interact with the notification in a predetermined manner. The GUI can also provide data relating to the notification, such as success/failure, read/unread, etc.

Claims (35)

1. A method for building a notification through a graphical user interface (“GUI”), comprising:

displaying a first field for inputting text to be displayed on an action element within the notification;

displaying a second field for inputting text to be displayed on the action element after the action element has been selected by a user;

displaying a third field for selecting an application programming interface (“API”) call to be made based on the action element being selected by a user;

displaying a primary option to make the action element primary, wherein making the action element primary causes the action element to be displayed as the first of a plurality of action elements in the notification; and

displaying a create option that, when selected, creates the notification using the information from the first field, second field, third field, and the primary option.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing a notification recipient element for the notification.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing a notification priority element for the notification.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the displaying stages are performed in response to the user selecting an option to create the notification using a custom template.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the GUI includes an API field for providing an API endpoint to be used for the API call.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying a method field for selecting between a plurality of types of API calls to be used for the API call.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying a repeat option that, when selected, makes the action element repeatable such that the user can repeatedly take an action by using the action element multiple times.

8. A non-transitory, computer-readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform stages for building a notification through a graphical user interface (“GUI”), the stages comprising:

displaying a first field for inputting text to be displayed on an action element within the notification;

displaying a second field for inputting text to be displayed on the action element after the action element has been selected by a user;

displaying a third field for selecting an application programming interface (“API”) call to be made based on the action element being selected by a user;

displaying a primary option to make the action element primary, wherein making the action element primary causes the action element to be displayed as the first of a plurality of action elements in the notification; and

displaying a create option that, when selected, creates the notification using the information from the first field, second field, third field, and the primary option.

9. The non-transitory, computer-readable medium of claim 8 , the stages further comprising providing a notification recipient element for the notification.

10. The non-transitory, computer-readable medium of claim 8 , the stages further comprising providing a notification priority element for the notification.

11. The non-transitory, computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the displaying stages are performed in response to the user selecting an option to create the notification using a custom template.

12. The non-transitory, computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the GUI includes an API field for providing an API endpoint to be used for the API call.

13. The non-transitory, computer-readable medium of claim 8 , the stages further comprising displaying a method field for selecting between a plurality of types of API calls to be used for the API call.

14. The non-transitory, computer-readable medium of claim 8 , the stages further comprising displaying a repeat option that, when selected, makes the action element repeatable such that the user can repeatedly take an action by using the action element multiple times.

15. A system for building a notification through a graphical user interface (“GUI”), the system comprising a device that displays the GUI, wherein the system performs stages comprising:

displaying a first field for inputting text to be displayed on an action element within the notification;

displaying a second field for inputting text to be displayed on the action element after the action element has been selected by a user;

displaying a third field for selecting an application programming interface (“API”) call to be made based on the action element being selected by a user;

displaying a primary option to make the action element primary, wherein making the action element primary causes the action element to be displayed as the first of a plurality of action elements in the notification; and

displaying a create option that, when selected, creates the notification using the information from the first field, second field, third field, and the primary option.

16. The system of claim 15 , the stages further comprising providing a notification recipient element for the notification.

17. The system of claim 15 , the stages further comprising providing a notification priority element for the notification.

18. The system of claim 15 , wherein the displaying stages are performed in response to the user selecting an option to create the notification using a custom template.

19. The system of claim 15 , wherein the GUI includes an API field for providing an API endpoint to be used for the API call.

20. The system of claim 15 , the stages further comprising displaying a method field for selecting between a plurality of types of API calls to be used for the API call.
