Abstract

A system for facilitating a cardiac rhythm disorder diagnosis is provided. A download station is adapted to retrieve cutaneous action potentials of a patient recorded as ECG data. A plot of R-R interval data is generated based on the ECG data and displayed. A presentation of the R-R interval data in the display is changed by identifying a section of the R-R interval data and removing portions of the R-R interval data associated with an earlier recordation time than the R-R interval data in the section and a later recordation time than the R-R interval data in the section. The R-R interval data remaining in the display is provided in greater detail. Report strips are generated from the remaining R-R interval data and classified with a cardiac condition of the patient.

Claims (45)

1. A system for facilitating a cardiac rhythm disorder diagnosis with the aid of a digital computer, comprising:

an electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring and recording device worn by a patient and configured to record cutaneous action potentials of the patient;

a download station adapted to retrieve the cutaneous action potentials recorded over a set period of time by the ECG monitoring and recording device as ECG data; and

a processor and memory within which code for execution by the processor is stored, wherein the processor is configured to:

generate a plot of R-R interval data based on the ECG data;

provide a display of the R-R interval data comprising multiple rows of the R-R interval data; and

change a presentation of the R-R interval data in the display by zooming in to a section of the R-R interval data in the presentation, comprising:

identify the section of the R-R interval data in the display;

remove a portion of the R-R interval data associated with an earlier recordation time than the R-R interval data in the section and located in at least a first of the rows;

remove a portion of the R-R interval data associated with a later recordation time than the R-R interval data in the section and located in at least a last of the rows; and

provide the R-R interval data remaining in the display in greater detail by spreading the remaining R-R interval data in display space previously occupied by the removed portion of the R-R interval data in the at least first row and the removed portion of the R-R interval data in the at least last row;

generate one or more report strips each comprising a segment of the remaining R-R interval data; and

classify each report strip with a cardiac condition of the patient.

2. A system according to claim 1 , wherein each report strip is determined automatically or manually by a reviewer.

3. A system according to claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to zoom out of the presentation of the R-R interval data by providing the removed portions of R-R interval data.

4. A system according to claim 1 , wherein the greater detail is provided, comprising:

stretching the remaining R-R interval data into parts of the display previously occupied by the removed portions of the R-R interval data.

5. A system according to claim 1 , wherein the R-R interval data is arranged linearly in the rows in the display.

6. A system according to claim 5 , wherein the rows are each numbered consecutively.

7. A system according to claim 6 , wherein the row with the lowest number comprises the R-R interval data with an earliest recordation time and the row with the highest number comprises the R-R interval data with a latest recordation time.

8. A system according to claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to display at least one marker within the display.

9. A system according to claim 1 , wherein the marker comprises an indicator for one of a time of day, cardiac event start or stop, and a patient marker.

10. A system according to claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to collect the report strips as a patient report.

11. A system for facilitating a cardiac rhythm disorder diagnosis with the aid of a digital computer, comprising:

a download station adapted to retrieve cutaneous action potentials of a patient recorded over a set period of time by an ECG monitoring and recording device as ECG data; and

a processor and memory within which code for execution by the processor is stored, wherein the processor is configured to:

generate a plot of R-R interval data based on the ECG data;

provide a display of the R-R interval data comprising multiple rows of the R-R interval data; and

change a presentation of the R-R interval data in the display by zooming in to a section of the R-R interval data in the presentation, comprising:

identify the section of the R-R interval data in the display;

remove a portion of the R-R interval data associated with an earlier recordation time than the R-R interval data in the section and located in at least a first of the rows;

remove a portion of the R-R interval data associated with a later recordation time than the R-R interval data in the section and located in at least a last of the rows; and

provide the R-R interval data remaining in the display in greater detail by spreading the remaining R-R interval data in display space previously occupied by the removed portion of the R-R interval data in the at least first row and the removed portion of the R-R interval data in the at least last row;

generate one or more report strips each comprising a segment of the remaining R-R interval data; and

classify each report strip with a cardiac condition of the patient.

12. A system according to claim 11 , wherein each report strip is determined automatically or manually by a reviewer.

13. A system according to claim 11 , wherein the processor is configured to zoom out of the presentation of the R-R interval data by providing the removed portions of R-R interval data.

14. A system according to claim 11 , wherein the greater detail is provided, comprising:

stretching the remaining R-R interval data into parts of the display previously occupied by the removed portions of the R-R interval data.

15. A system according to claim 11 , wherein the R-R interval data is arranged linearly in the rows in the display.

16. A system according to claim 15 , wherein the rows are each numbered consecutively.

17. A system according to claim 16 , wherein the row with the lowest number comprises the R-R interval data with an earliest recordation time and the row with the highest number comprises the R-R interval data with a latest recordation time.

18. A system according to claim 11 , wherein the processor is configured to display at least one marker within the display.

19. A system according to claim 11 , wherein the marker comprises an indicator for one of a time of day, cardiac event start or stop, and a patient marker.

20. A system according to claim 11 , wherein the processor is configured to collect the report strips as a patient report.
