Method and system for funding mobile gaming

1. A method of funding wagering game play comprising the steps of:

establishing a funds account associated with a player;

storing information regarding an account balance of funds belonging to said player in association with said funds account of said player;

detecting the presence of a mobile device of said player via a processor of a wireless communication interface that is associated with a stationary electronic gaming machine which is configured to present at least one wagering game;

establishing a communication link between said wireless communication interface and said mobile device of said player;

receiving, via said wireless communication link, information identifying said player;

utilizing said information identifying said player to identify said funds account of said player;

associating funds from said funds account of said player with said stationary electronic gaming machine to create a gaming machine balance of funds associated with said stationary electronic gaming machine which said player may utilize to play one or more wagering games presented to said player at said stationary electronic gaming machine;

updating, at said stationary electronic gaming machine, said gaming machine balance of funds based upon any wagers placed at and/or any winnings awarded by said stationary electronic gaming machine;

receiving a request from said player to cease playing said stationary electronic gaming machine;

in response to said request, associating at least a portion of said gaming machine balance of funds with said funds account of said player; and

increasing said account balance of funds associated with said funds account of said player, and decreasing said gaming machine balance of funds.

2. The method in accordance with claim 1 , further comprising the step of dispensing funds not associated with said funds account to said player from said stationary electronic gaming machine.

3. The method in accordance with claim 1 , further comprising the step of receiving a request from said player to access monetary funds from said funds account of said player for funding a wager placed at said stationary electronic gaming machine.

The method in accordance with claim 1 , wherein information regarding funds account of said player and said account balance of funds is stored in a database associated with a server comprising a processor, a memory and machine-readable code stored in said memory and executable by said processor;

wherein said server receives said information identifying said player and utilizes, at said server, said information identifying said player to identify said funds account associated with said player and transmit from said server, an instruction to cause said funds from said funds account of said player to be associated with said stationary electronic gaming device.

5. The method in accordance with claim 1 , wherein said information identifying said player is transmitted by a controller of said stationary electronic gaming machine to said server.

6. The method in accordance with claim 1 , further comprising the step of presenting at least one wagering game to said player at said stationary electronic gaming machine and, if said outcome of said at least one wagering game is a winning outcome, awarding an award to said player.

7. A gaming system comprising:

an electronic gaming machine comprising a display, a processor, a memory, machine-readable code stored in said memory an executable by said processor to cause said processor to present at least one wagering game including information regarding said at least one game via said display, a player tracking device having a controller that is in communication with said processor;

a wireless communication interface associated with said electronic gaming machine, said wireless communication interface having a processor;

an accounting server configured to store information regarding a player funds account having a funds balance associated with said player funds account;

a communication link between said electronic gaming machine and said accounting server;

said electronic gaming machine configured to identify a player by detecting the presence of a mobile device of said player via said processor of said wireless communication interface;

said accounting server configured to receive information identifying said player;

said accounting server configured to utilize said information identifying said player to identify said player funds account;

said electronic gaming machine configured to receive, from said player funds account, funds to create a gaming machine balance of funds associated with said electronic gaming machine which said player may utilize to play one or more wagering games presented to said player at said gaming machine,

said electronic gaming machine configured to update said gaming machine balance of funds based upon any wagers placed at and/or any winnings awarded by said electronic gaming machine;

said electronic gaming machine configured to receive a request from said player at said electronic gaming machine to cease play at said electronic gaming machine, and in response to said request, associate at least a portion of said gaming machine balance of funds with a player's funds account; and update said gaming machine balance of funds; and

said accounting server configured to update said funds balance of said player funds account.

8. The gaming system in accordance with claim 7 , wherein said electronic gaming machine is further configured to receive a request from said player to access monetary funds from said player funds account.

9. The gaming system in accordance with claim 7 , wherein said request to cease play by said player comprises a cash-out request.

10. The gaming system in accordance with claim 7 , wherein said information identifying said player is associated with a player identification card read by said player tracking device.

11. The gaming system in accordance with claim 7 , wherein said electronic gaming machine further comprises a mobile communication device dock.

12. A method of funding wagering game play comprising the steps of:

establishing a funds account associated with a player at a server comprising a processor, a memory and machine-readable code stored in said memory and executable by said processor;

storing, in a database associated with said server, information regarding an account balance of funds belonging to said player in association with said funds account;

identifying said player by detecting the presence of a mobile device via a processor of a wireless communication interface that is in communication with a stationary electronic gaming machine which is configured to present at least one wagering game;

receiving, at said server, information identifying said player;

utilizing, at said server, said information identifying said player to identify said funds account associated with said player;

transmitting, from said server, an instruction to cause funds from said funds account to be transferred to said electronic gaming machine to create a gaming machine balance of funds associated with said stationary electronic gaming machine which said player may utilize to play one or more wagering games presented to said player at said stationary electronic gaming machine;

updating, at said stationary electronic gaming machine, said gaming machine balance of funds based upon any wagers placed at and/or any winnings awarded by said stationary electronic gaming machine;

receiving a request from said player, at said stationary electronic gaming machine, to cease playing said stationary electronic gaming machine;

in response to the request from said player, associating, at said server, said gaming machine balance of funds with said funds account; and

updating, at said server, said account balance of funds which are associated with said funds account, and updating, at said stationary electronic gaming machine, said gaming machine balance of funds of said gaming machine balance of funds.

13. The method in accordance with claim 12 , further comprising the step of dispensing funds not associated with said funds account to said player from said stationary electronic gaming machine.

14. The method in accordance with claim 12 , wherein said information identifying said player comprises information received from said mobile device of said player.

15. The method in accordance with claim 12 , wherein said information identifying said player comprises information from a player card belonging to said player and read by a player tracking device associated with said stationary electronic gaming machine.

16. The method in accordance with claim 12 , further comprising the step of presenting at least one wagering game to said player at said stationary electronic gaming machine and, if said outcome of said at least one wagering game is a winning outcome, awarding an award to said player.
