Abstract

An ecommerce platform, available via an interactive electronic resource, allows a user to purchase products and services from the resource, receive promotional-valued credits in return for the purchase, and play games to earn additional promotional-valued credits. The user can purchase products and services at the electronic resource with either or both of a government-issued legal tender, such as the U.S. dollar, or a virtual currency used by the electronic resource, such as the promotional-valued credits. In embodiments of the invention, the user is guaranteed that an amount of legal tender (e.g., the U.S. dollar) paid-in to the ecommerce platform is the same as or less than a fair market value of the products or services purchased via the ecommerce platform.

Claims (47)

1. A method, comprising:

providing, by one or more processors coupled to memory, an electronic resource comprising a website or a mobile application to a user device;

receiving, by the one or more processors, from the user device of a user associated with an account, via the electronic resource provided for presentation on the user device, a purchase amount for the account, the purchase amount specified via a first user interface presented in the electronic resource on the user device, wherein the purchase amount represents a fiat currency value for the account of the user;

providing, by the one or more processors, for display in the electronic resource provided for presentation on the user device, an indication of a first amount of promotional-valued credits based on the purchase amount;

receiving, by the one or more processors, responsive to an interaction with an interactive element of a plurality of interactive elements displayed on the electronic resource by the user device, a selection of a second amount of the promotional-valued credits to initiate play of at least one game by the user;

responsive to receiving the selection of the second amount of the promotional-valued credits to initiate the play of the at least one game, providing, by the one or more processors, the at least one game for display on the electronic resource provided to the user device;

detecting, by the one or more processors, an outcome of the play of the at least one game;

responsive to detecting the outcome of the play, determining, by the one or more processors, a third amount of the promotional-valued credits based on the outcome of the play of the at least one game; and

adjusting, by the one or more processors, the account by the first amount of the promotional-valued credits, the second amount of the promotional-valued credits, and the third amount of the promotional-valued credits,

wherein the fiat currency value of the account after the adjustment of the account is at least equal to or greater than the fiat currency value of the purchase amount.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one game are presented to the user based on learned purchase and game-playing behaviors of the user.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user may purchase the promotional-valued credits using at least one of the fiat currency, digital currency, virtual currency, and a combination thereof.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the promotional-valued credits have a set ratio to the fiat currency.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the purchase amount is for one of a product, a service, a stored-value card, or a promotional-valued credit.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving user information from the user, wherein user information is associated with the account for the user accessible at the electronic resource provided to the user device for display.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising debiting or crediting the account based on a difference between the second amount of the promotional-valued credits and the third amount of the promotional-valued credits.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first amount of the promotional-valued credits corresponds to the purchase amount.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the fiat currency value of the account is a net sum of the first amount of the promotional-valued credits, the second amount of the promotional-valued credits, and the third amount of the promotional-valued credits, and wherein the net sum is guaranteed to be equal to or greater than the fiat currency value of the purchase amount associated with the purchase.

10. A non-transitory computer-readable media storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, perform a method, the method comprising:

providing an electronic resource comprising a website or a mobile application to a user device;

receiving, from the user device of a user associated with an account, via the electronic resource provided for presentation on the user device, a purchase amount for the account, the purchase amount specified via a first user interface presented in the electronic resource on the user device, wherein the purchase amount represents a fiat currency having a fiat currency value for the account of the user;

providing, for display in the electronic resource provided for presentation on the user device, an indication of a first amount of promotional-valued credits based on the purchase amount;

receiving, responsive to an interaction with an interactive element of a plurality of interactive elements displayed on the electronic resource by the user device, a selection of a second amount of the promotional-valued credits to initiate play of at least one game by the user;

responsive to receiving the selection of the second amount of the promotional-valued credits to initiate the play of the at least one game, providing the at least one game for display on the electronic resource provided to the user device;

detecting an outcome of the play of the at least one game; and

responsive to detecting the outcome of the play, determining a third amount of the promotional-valued credits based on the outcome of the play of the at least one game,

wherein the fiat currency value of the account is at least a net sum of the purchase amount, the first amount of the promotional-valued credits, the second amount of the promotional-valued credits, and the third amount of the promotional-valued credits, the net sum is guaranteed to be equal to or greater than the fiat currency value of the purchase amount.

11. The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 10 , wherein the first amount of the promotional-valued credits awarded to the user is dependent on a plurality of characteristics of the user.

12. The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 11 , wherein the plurality of characteristics of the user is one of a length of time the user has been accessing the electronic resource via the user device, a frequency with which the user accesses the electronic resource, or a qualification level of the user.

13. The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 10 , wherein the computer-executable instructions are further executed to perform receiving user information from the user, wherein user information is associated with the account for the user accessible at the electronic resource provided to the user device.

14. The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 10 , wherein the computer-executable instructions are further executed to perform receiving, via the electronic resource presented via the user device, if the account has a credit after the play of the at least one game, either a first selection by the user to make another purchase or a second selection by the user to play another game via the electronic resource.

15. A system, comprising:

a processor;

one or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, perform a method, the method comprising:

providing an electronic resource comprising a website or a mobile application to a user device;

receiving, from the user device of a user associated with an account, via the electronic resource provided for presentation on the user device, a purchase amount for the account, the purchase amount specified via a first user interface presented in the electronic resource on the user device, wherein the purchase amount represents a fiat currency having a fiat currency value for the account;

providing, for display in the electronic resource provided for presentation on the user device, an indication of a first amount of promotional-valued credits based on the purchase amount;

receiving, responsive to an interaction with an interactive element of a plurality of interactive elements displayed on the electronic resource by the user device, a selection of a second amount of the promotional-valued credits to initiate play of at least one game by the user;

responsive to receiving the selection of the second amount of the promotional-valued credits to initiate the play of the at least one game, providing the at least one game for display on the electronic resource on provided to the user device;

detecting an outcome of the play of the at least one game; and

responsive to detecting the outcome of the play, determining a third amount of the promotional-valued credits based on the outcome of the play of the at least one game,

wherein the fiat currency value of the account is a net sum of the purchase amount, the first amount of the promotional-valued credits, the second amount of the promotional-valued credits, and the third amount of the promotional-valued credits, and wherein the net sum is guaranteed to be equal to or greater than the fiat currency value of the purchase amount.

16. The system of claim 15 , wherein the promotional-valued credits and the purchase amount of the purchase is accessible by a stored-value card.

17. The system of claim 15 , further comprising an advertisement link displayed on the electronic resource, wherein upon a selection of the advertisement link by the user the computer-executable instructions perform an additional step of awarding a fourth amount of the promotional-valued credits.

18. The system of claim 17 , wherein the promotional-valued credits have a set ratio to the fiat currency.

19. The system of claim 15 , further comprising a user database for storing user information relating to the account of the user.
