Abstract

A system for converging a desktop application and a web application is configured to: 1) in response to a request, cause a start of a target desktop application initialization process by the web server; 2) replicate a set of files to a directory for the client; 3) converge the target desktop application and the web application on the web server; 4) receive a target desktop application interaction using the user interface in a web browser; 5) interact with the target desktop application; 6) determine that file(s) in the set of files in the directory for the client are modified; 7) in response to determining that the file(s) are modified, replicate the file(s) determined to be modified to the web server; and 8) stop and exit the target desktop application.

Claims (47)

1 - 13 . (canceled)

14 . A system, comprising:

a processor configured to:

in response to a request, the request comprising a set of files, from a client user of the web application for using a target desktop application, cause a start of the target desktop application initialization process by the web server;

replicate, by the web server processor, the set of files to a directory for the client;

converge the target desktop application and the web application on the web server;

receive a target desktop application interaction using the user interface in the web browser;

in response to receiving the target desktop application interaction, interact with the target desktop application;

determine that one or more files in the set of files in the directory for the client are modified;

in response to determining that the one or more files are modified, replicate the files determined to be modified to the web server; and

stop and exit the target desktop application; and

a memory coupled to the processor and configured to provide the processor with instructions.

15 . The system of claim 14 , wherein the processor is further configured to install the target desktop application prior to starting the target desktop application.

16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the processor is further configured to prepare and provision a desktop application environment after installing the target desktop application and prior to starting the target desktop application.

17 . The system of claim 14 , wherein the set of file is for use with the target desktop application.

18 . The system of claim 14 , wherein converging the target desktop application and the web application comprises displaying a graphical user interface of the target application in the web browser.

19 . The system of claim 18 , wherein converging the target desktop application and the web application comprises integrating the displaying of the graphical user interface of the target application and the web application interface in the web browser.

20 . The system of claim 14 , further comprising synchronizing all files of the target desktop application and the web server during the desktop application interaction.

21 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising transmitting a browser plug-in configured to intercept user input to the client to intermediate desktop application interaction between the client and the target desktop application.

22 . A method, comprising:

in response to a request, the request comprising a set of files, from a client user of the web application for using a target desktop application, causing a start of the target desktop application initialization process by the web server;

replicating, by the web server processor, the set of files to a directory for the client;

converging the target desktop application and the web application on the web server;

receiving a target desktop application interaction using the user interface in the web browser;

in response to receiving the target desktop application interaction, interacting with the target desktop application;

determining that one or more files in the set of files in the directory for the client are modified;

in response to determining that the one or more files are modified, replicating the files determined to be modified to the web server; and

stopping and exiting the target desktop application.

23 . The method of claim 22 , further comprising installing the target desktop application prior to starting the target desktop application.

24 . The method of claim 23 , further comprising preparing and provisioning a desktop application environment after installing the target desktop application and prior to starting the target desktop application.

25 . The method of claim 22 , wherein the set of file is for use with the target desktop application.

26 . The method of claim 22 , wherein converging the target desktop application and the web application comprises displaying a graphical user interface of the target application in the web browser.

27 . The method of claim 26 , wherein converging the target desktop application and the web application comprises integrating the displaying of the graphical user interface of the target application and the web application interface in the web browser.

28 . The method of claim 22 , further comprising synchronizing all files of the target desktop application and the Web server during the desktop application interaction.

29 . The method of claim 22 , further comprising transmitting a browser plug-in configured to intercept user input to the client to intermediate desktop application interaction between the client and the target desktop application.

30 . A computer program product embodied in a non-transitory computer readable medium and comprising computer instructions for:

in response to a request, the request comprising a set of files, from a client user of the web application for using a target desktop application, causing a start of the target desktop application initialization process by the web server;

replicating, by the web server processor, the set of files to a directory for the client;

converging the target desktop application and the web application on the web server;

receiving a target desktop application interaction using the user interface in the web browser;

in response to receiving the target desktop application interaction, interacting with the target desktop application;

determining that one or more files in the set of files in the directory for the client are modified;

in response to determining that the one or more files are modified, replicating the files determined to be modified to the web server; and

stopping and exiting the target desktop application.

31 . The method of claim 30 , further comprising installing the target desktop application prior to starting the target desktop application.

32 . The method of claim 31 , further comprising preparing and provisioning a desktop application environment after installing the target desktop application and prior to starting the target desktop application.

33 . The method of claim 30 , wherein the set of file is for use with the target desktop application.
