Abstract

A passive cooling system includes a fan configured to generate an air flow path for a radiator, the air flow path extending from the fan to the radiator and a cooling pipe extended between a turbocharger and an intake manifold, the cooling path positioned in the air flow path between the fan and the radiator.

Claims (39)

1. A cooling system comprising:

a radiator;

a fan configured to generate an air flow path for the radiator, the fan rotating about a rotation axis; and

a cooling pipe positioned between the fan and the radiator, wherein the cooling pipe extends linearly across a width of the radiator above the rotation axis of the fan;

wherein the air flow path flows from the fan to the radiator across the cooling pipe.

2. The cooling system of claim 1 , further comprising:

a turbocharger; and

an intake manifold, wherein the cooling pipe extends between the turbocharger and the intake manifold.

3. The cooling system of claim 2 , wherein the cooling pipe is parallel to a line from the turbocharger to the intake manifold.

4. The cooling system of claim 1 , wherein the cooling pipe is a predetermined color.

5. The cooling system of claim 1 , wherein the cooling pipe extends in a direction perpendicular to the air flow path.

6. The cooling system of claim 1 , wherein the cooling pipe is positioned at a location that intersects a line between the fan and the radiator.

7. The cooling system of claim 1 , wherein the cooling pipe extends in a first direction from the turbocharger toward the cooling system, and a second direction perpendicular to the first direction.

8. The cooling system of claim 1 , further comprising:

a turbine located in an exhaust duct; and

a compressor rotationally coupled to the turbine and configured to force air through the cooling pipe.

9. The cooling system of claim 1 , further comprising:

an air pipe configured to support the cooling path, wherein air flows through the air pipe.

10. The cooling system of claim 1 , further comprising:

a frame including one or more openings to support the cooling pipe.

11. The cooling system of claim 10 , wherein a vertical plate of the frame supports the cooling pipe and the fan.

12. An engine comprising:

a turbocharger;

a radiator; an intake manifold; and

a cooling system including:

a fan configured to generate an air flow path for the radiator; and

a cooling pipe positioned between the fan and the radiator and coupled to the turbocharger and the intake manifold,

wherein the air flow path flows from the fan to the radiator across the cooling pipe,

wherein the cooling pipe extends across a width of the radiator above a rotation axis of the fan.

13. The engine of claim 12 , wherein the cooling pipe extends in a direction perpendicular to the air flow path.

14. The engine of claim 12 , wherein the cooling pipe is substantially parallel to a path from the turbocharger to the intake manifold.

15. The engine of claim 12 , wherein the cooling pipe extends in a first direction from the turbocharger toward the cooling system, and a second direction perpendicular to the first direction.

16. The engine of claim 12 , wherein the cooling system includes:

a turbine located in an exhaust duct; and

a compressor rotationally coupled to the turbine and configured to force air through the cooling pipe.

17. The cooling system of claim 1 wherein the cooling pipe has a diameter that is substantially constant.

18. The cooling system of claim 1 wherein the cooling pipe is free of branches or tees.

19. The engine of claim 12 wherein the cooling pipe extends linearly across the width of the radiator.

20. The engine of claim 12 wherein the cooling pipe has a diameter that is substantially constant.
