Abstract

Telematics systems and methods are described for generating interactive animated guided user interfaces (GUIs). A telematics cloud platform is configured to receive vehicular telematics data from a telematics device onboard a vehicle. A GUI value compression component determines, based on the vehicular telematics data, a plurality of GUI position values and a plurality of corresponding GUI time values. A geospatial animation app receives the plurality of GUI position values and the plurality of corresponding GUI time values. The geospatial animation app implements an interactive animated GUI that renders a plurality of geospatial graphics or graphical routes on a geographic area map via a display device. The geospatial graphics or graphical routes are rendered to have different visual forms based on differences between respective GUI position values and corresponding GUI time values.

rendering a plurality of geospatial graphics in a chronologic order on an electronic map of a geographic area to form an animated graphical representation of a trip made by the vehicle, the plurality of geospatial graphics including a first geospatial graphic at the first GUI position value and at the first GUI time value and a second geospatial graphic at the second GUI position value and at the second GUI time value, wherein the animated graphical representation of the trip is delineated by a geographic stop destination, and wherein the plurality of geospatial graphics are sequentially different based upon corresponding GUI time values;

displaying one or more photographs associated with the geographic stop destination corresponding to the electronic map of the geographic area, wherein the one or more photographs comprise one or more historical photographs taken by one or more other users while stopped at the geographic stop destination; and

rendering a time bar corresponding to the corresponding GUI time values on a graphical user interface on a mobile device, wherein the time bar is operable to play back, through at least one of rewind or replay, images of at least one of the plurality of geospatial graphics on the electronic map over a time period.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first geospatial graphic is visually different from the second geospatial graphic if the first GUI position value is different from the second GUI position value.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first geospatial graphic is rendered to have a first graphical form different from a second graphical form of the second geospatial graphic if the first GUI time value is different from the second GUI time value, the second graphical form being different from the first graphical form in a size aspect.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising annotating the electronic map of the geographic area with a graphic overlay or a popup screen.

5. The method of claim 4 , further comprising receiving environment data, the environment data including an environment position and an environment time value of the environment position.

6. The method of claim 5 , further comprising correlating the environment data with a particular geospatial graphic of the plurality of geospatial graphics, the environment position and the environment time value of the environment position of the environment data corresponding to a GUI position value and a GUI time value of the particular geospatial graphic.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the environment data is displayed via the graphic overlay when a user taps or hovers over the particular geospatial graphic.

8. The method of claim 4 , further comprising:

determining vehicle status data based on the telematics data, the vehicle status data being associated with a particular GUI position value; and

associating the vehicle status data with a particular geospatial graphic, the particular geospatial graphic corresponding to the particular GUI position value.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the vehicle status data is displayed via the graphic overlay when a user taps or hovers over the particular geospatial graphic.

10. A telematics system for generating guided user interfaces (GUIs), the telematics system comprising:

one or more processors configured to:

receive telematics data from a vehicle including a geographic position of the vehicle and a time value of the geographic position;

determine, based on compressing the telematics data, a plurality of GUI position values and a plurality of corresponding GUI time values including a first GUI position value, a first GUI time value corresponding to the first GUI position value, a second GUI position value, and a second GUI time value corresponding to the second GUI position value;

render a plurality of geospatial graphics in a chronologic order on an electronic map of a geographic area to form an animated graphical representation of a trip made by the vehicle, the plurality of geospatial graphics including a first geospatial graphic at the first GUI position value and at the first GUI time value and a second geospatial graphic at the second GUI position value and at the second GUI time value, wherein the animated graphical representation of the trip is delineated by a geographic stop destination, and wherein the plurality of geospatial graphics are sequentially different based upon corresponding GUI time values;

display one or more photographs associated with the geographic stop destination corresponding to the electronic map of the geographic area, wherein the one or more photographs comprise one or more historical photographs taken by one or more other users while stopped at the geographic stop destination; and

render a time bar corresponding to the corresponding GUI time values on a graphical user interface on a mobile device, wherein the time bar is operable to play back, through at least one of rewind or replay, images of at least one of the plurality of geospatial graphics on the electronic map over a time period.

11. The telematics system of claim 10 , wherein the first geospatial graphic is visually different from the second geospatial graphic if the first GUI position value is different from the second GUI position value.

12. The telematics system of claim 10 , wherein the first geospatial graphic is rendered to have a first graphical form different from a second graphical form of the second geospatial graphic if the first GUI time value is different from the second GUI time value, the second graphical form being different from the first graphical form in a size.
