Abstract

A method for adaptive user training and gaming utilizing a media player is disclosed. The method includes operations of receiving, by control logic, data pertaining to selection of a first training program, transmitting, by the control logic, media instructions to cause activation of a media player configured to display visual data corresponding to the first training program, and transmitting, by the control logic, ball-throwing instructions to cause activation of a ball-throwing machine configured to impart motion to one or more balls in accordance with the first training program. The method includes additional operations of recording, by the control logic, an indication of the first training program in a player profile. Additional operations includes recording, by the control logic, training data indicating metrics associated with performance of the first training program.

Claims (51)

1. A method for adaptive utilization of a ball-throwing machine in conjunction with a media player, the method comprising:

receiving, by control logic, data pertaining to selection of a first training program;

transmitting, by the control logic, media instructions to cause activation of the media player, wherein the media player is configured to display visual data corresponding to the first training program;

transmitting, by the control logic, ball-throwing instructions to cause activation of the ball-throwing machine configured to impart motion to one or more balls in accordance with the first training program;

obtaining, by the control logic, image data of an interaction between a first player and a first ball of the one or more balls, wherein the interaction includes at least receipt of the first ball by the first player or a striking of the first ball by the first player; and

responsive to receiving the image data, performing, by the control logic, operations of generating and transmitting second media instructions to cause updating of the visual data by the media play, wherein the updating includes display of an indication of an accuracy of the interaction relative to instructions of the first training program.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

recording an indication of the first training program in a player profile.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

recording training data indicating metrics associated with performance of the first training program.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the training data includes a number of the one or more balls delivered and a trajectory of each of the one or more balls delivered.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first training program includes an indication of movements to be performed by the first player upon receipt of the first ball of the one or more balls.

6. The method of claim 5 , further comprising:

performing, by the control logic, an analysis of the image data resulting in detection of movements of the first player, and a determination as to whether movements of the first player correspond to the indication of movements to be performed by the first player included in the first training program.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

performing, by the control logic, a second analysis of the image data resulting in determination of a speed of movements of the first player.

8. A system comprising:

a ball-throwing machine configured to impart motion to one or more balls;

a media player; and

one or more logic modules stored on a non-transitory storage medium, the one or more logic modules including instructions, upon execution by one or more processors, perform operations including:

receiving data pertaining to selection of a first training program;

transmitting media instructions to cause activation of the media player, wherein the media player is configured to display visual data corresponding to the first training program;

transmitting ball-throwing instructions to cause activation of the ball-throwing machine configured to impart motion to one or more balls in accordance with the first training program;

obtaining image data of an interaction between a first player and a first ball of the one or more balls, wherein the interaction includes at least receipt of the first ball by the first player or a striking of the first ball by the first player; and

responsive to receiving the image data, performing operations of generating and transmitting second media instructions to cause updating of the visual data by the media play, wherein the updating includes display of an indication of an accuracy of the interaction relative to instructions of the first training program.

9. The system of claim 8 , further comprising:

recording an indication of the first training program in a player profile.

10. The system of claim 8 , further comprising:

recording training data indicating metrics associated with performance of the first training program.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the training data includes a number of the one or more balls delivered and a trajectory of each of the one or more balls delivered.

12. The system of claim 8 , wherein the first training program includes an indication of movements to be performed by the first player upon receipt of the first ball of the one or more balls.

13. The system of claim 12 , further comprising:

performing, by the control logic, an analysis of the image data resulting in detection of movements of the first player, and a determination as to whether movements of the first player correspond to the indication of movements to be performed by the first player included in the first training program.

14. The system of claim 8 , further comprising:

performing, by the control logic, a second analysis of the image data resulting in determination of a speed of movements of the first player.

15. A non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium having stored thereon instructions that, when executed by a processing device, cause performance of operations including:

receiving data pertaining to selection of a first training program;

transmitting media instructions to cause activation of the media player, wherein the media player is configured to display visual data corresponding to the first training program;

transmitting ball-throwing instructions to cause activation of the ball-throwing machine configured to impart motion to one or more balls in accordance with the first training program;

obtaining image data of an interaction between a first player and a first ball of the one or more balls, wherein the interaction includes at least receipt of the first ball by the first player or a striking of the first ball by the first player; and

responsive to receiving the image data, performing operations of generating and transmitting second media instructions to cause updating of the visual data by the media play, wherein the updating includes display of an indication of an accuracy of the interaction relative to instructions of the first training program.

16. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , further comprising:

recording an indication of the first training program in a player profile.

17. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , further comprising:

recording training data indicating metrics associated with performance of the first training program.

18. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein the training data includes a number of the one or more balls delivered and a trajectory of each of the one or more balls delivered.

19. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 18 , wherein the first training program includes an indication of movements to be performed by the first player upon receipt of the first ball of the one or more balls, and

wherein the operations further include:

performing an analysis of the image data resulting in detection of movements of the first player, and a determination as to whether movements of the first player correspond to the indication of movements to be performed by the first player included in the first training program.

20. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , further comprising:

performing a second analysis of the image data resulting in determination of a speed of movements of the first player.
