Abstract

Wireless communications for a plurality of cell groups are described. Uplink transmissions, such as uplink transport blocks, hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) transmission, and/or channel state information transmission, may be based on one or more time alignment timers associated with a cell group.

Claims (171)

1. A method comprising:

receiving by a wireless device:

a first value for a first time alignment timer (TAT) associated with a primary cell group; and

a second value for a second TAT associated with a secondary cell group; and

while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

stopping uplink transport block transmission via at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group; and

transmitting, for the at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group, channel state information.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the stopping the uplink transport block transmission comprises at least one of: stopping re-transmissions of uplink transport blocks or stopping transmissions of new uplink transport blocks.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising performing, based on the first TAT expiring, at least one of:

stopping uplink transport block transmission via a cell of the primary cell group or via a cell of the secondary cell group; or

clearing at least one Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) buffer associated with a cell of the primary cell group or associated with a cell of the secondary cell group.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

transmitting Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) positive acknowledgements and HARQ negative acknowledgements, wherein the HARQ positive acknowledgements and the HARQ negative acknowledgements correspond to transport blocks received via at least one cell of the primary cell group or of the secondary cell group.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the transmitting the channel state information comprises using at least one of:

a physical uplink control channel of a primary cell; or

uplink control information feedback in a transport block transmitted via a shared data channel of an uplink carrier.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising performing, based on the first TAT expiring, at least one of:

uplink transmission of at least one random access preamble via a cell of the primary cell group or via a cell of the secondary cell group; or

notifying a radio resource control protocol layer to release a sounding reference signal via a cell of the primary cell group or via a cell of the secondary cell group.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising performing, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running, at least one of:

uplink transmission of at least one second random access preamble via the secondary cell group; or

notifying a radio resource control protocol layer to release a sounding reference signal.

8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving, by the wireless device, configuration parameters associated with a plurality of cells, wherein the plurality of cells comprises the primary cell group and the secondary cell group, and wherein:

uplink transmission timing associated with the primary cell group is based on a first cell of the primary cell group; and

uplink transmission timing associated with the secondary cell group is based on a second cell of the secondary cell group.

9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

clearing at least one Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) buffer associated with the at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group.

10. The method of claim 1 , further comprising, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

transmitting, for the at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group, a Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ).

11. A wireless device comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:

receive:

a first value for a first time alignment timer (TAT) associated with a primary cell group; and

a second value for a second TAT associated with a secondary cell group; and

while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

stop uplink transport block transmission via at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group; and

transmit, for the at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group, channel state information.

The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to stop the uplink transport block transmission by causing the wireless device to at least one of: stop re-transmissions of uplink transport blocks or stop transmissions of new uplink transport blocks.

13. The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to perform, based on the first TAT expiring, at least one of:

stopping uplink transport block transmission via a cell of the primary cell group or via a cell of the secondary cell group; or

clearing at least one Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) buffer associated with a cell of the primary cell group or associated with a cell of the secondary cell group.

14. The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

transmit Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) positive acknowledgements and HARQ negative acknowledgements, wherein the HARQ positive acknowledgements and the HARQ negative acknowledgements correspond to transport blocks received via at least one cell of the primary cell group or of the secondary cell group.

15. The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to transmit the channel state information by using at least one of:

a physical uplink control channel of a primary cell; or

uplink control information feedback in a transport block transmitted via a shared data channel of an uplink carrier.

16. The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to perform, based on the first TAT expiring, at least one of:

uplink transmission of at least one random access preamble via a cell of the primary cell group or via a cell of the secondary cell group; or

notifying a radio resource control protocol layer to release a sounding reference signal via a cell of the primary cell group or via a cell of the secondary cell group.

17. The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to perform, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running, at least one of:

uplink transmission of at least one second random access preamble via the secondary cell group; or

notifying a radio resource control protocol layer to release a sounding reference signal.

The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to receive configuration parameters associated with a plurality of cells, wherein the plurality of cells comprises the primary cell group and the secondary cell group, and wherein:

uplink transmission timing associated with the primary cell group is based on a first cell of the primary cell group; and

uplink transmission timing associated with the secondary cell group is based on a second cell of the secondary cell group.

19. The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

clear at least one Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) buffer associated with the at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group.

20. The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

transmit, for the at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group, a Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ).

21. A method comprising:

transmitting by a base station:

a first value for a first time alignment timer (TAT) associated with a primary cell group; and

a second value for a second TAT associated with a secondary cell group; and

while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

stopping receiving uplink transport block transmission via at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group; and

receiving, for the at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group, channel state information transmission.

22. The method of claim 21 , wherein the stopping the receiving the uplink transport block transmission comprises at least one of: stopping receiving re-transmissions of uplink transport blocks or stopping receiving transmissions of new uplink transport blocks.

23. The method of claim 21 , further comprising stopping, based on the first TAT expiring, receiving uplink transport block transmission via a cell of the primary cell group or via a cell of the secondary cell group.

24. The method of claim 21 , further comprising, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

receiving Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) positive acknowledgements and HARQ negative acknowledgements, wherein the HARQ positive acknowledgements and the HARQ negative acknowledgements correspond to transport blocks received via at least one cell of the primary cell group or of the secondary cell group.

25. The method of claim 21 , wherein the receiving the channel state information transmission comprises using at least one of:

a physical uplink control channel of a primary cell; or

uplink control information feedback in a transport block transmitted via a shared data channel of an uplink carrier.

26. The method of claim 21 , further comprising receiving, based on the first TAT expiring, at least one of:

uplink transmission of at least one random access preamble via a cell of the primary cell group or via a cell of the secondary cell group; or

notification of a radio resource control protocol layer to release a sounding reference signal via a cell of the primary cell group or via a cell of the secondary cell group.

27. The method of claim 21 , further comprising receiving, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running, at least one of:

uplink transmission of at least one second random access preamble via the secondary cell group; or

notification of a radio resource control protocol layer to release a sounding reference signal.

28. The method of claim 21 , further comprising transmitting, by the base station, configuration parameters associated with a plurality of cells, wherein the plurality of cells comprises the primary cell group and the secondary cell group, and wherein:

uplink transmission timing associated with the primary cell group is based on a first cell of the primary cell group; and

uplink transmission timing associated with the secondary cell group is based on a second cell of the secondary cell group.

29. The method of claim 21 , further comprising, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

receiving, for the at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group, Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) transmission.

30. A base station comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the base station to:

transmit:

a first value for a first time alignment timer (TAT) associated with a primary cell group; and

a second value for a second TAT associated with a secondary cell group; and

while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

stop receiving uplink transport block transmission via at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group; and

receive, for the at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group, channel state information transmission.

The base station of claim 30 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the base station to stop receiving the uplink transport block transmission by causing the base station to at least one of: stop receiving re-transmissions of uplink transport blocks or stop receiving transmissions of new uplink transport blocks.

32. The base station of claim 30 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the base station to stop, based on the first TAT expiring, receiving uplink transport block transmission via a cell of the primary cell group or via a cell of the secondary cell group.

33. The base station of claim 30 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the base station to, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

receive Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) positive acknowledgements and HARQ negative acknowledgements, wherein the HARQ positive acknowledgements and the HARQ negative acknowledgements correspond to transport blocks received via at least one cell of the primary cell group or of the secondary cell group.

34. The base station of claim 30 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the base station to receive the channel state information transmission by using at least one of:

a physical uplink control channel of a primary cell; or

uplink control information feedback in a transport block transmitted via a shared data channel of an uplink carrier.

35. The base station of claim 30 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the base station to receive, based on the first TAT expiring, at least one of:

uplink transmission of at least one random access preamble via a cell of the primary cell group or via a cell of the secondary cell group; or

notification of a radio resource control protocol layer to release a sounding reference signal via a cell of the primary cell group or via a cell of the secondary cell group.

36. The base station of claim 30 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the base station to, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running, at least one of:

uplink transmission of at least one second random access preamble via the secondary cell group; or

notification of a radio resource control protocol layer to release a sounding reference signal.

37. The base station of claim 30 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the base station to transmit configuration parameters associated with a plurality of cells, wherein the plurality of cells comprises the primary cell group and the secondary cell group, and wherein:

uplink transmission timing associated with the primary cell group is based on a first cell of the primary cell group; and

uplink transmission timing associated with the secondary cell group is based on a second cell of the secondary cell group.

38. The base station of claim 30 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the base station to, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

receive, for the at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group, Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) transmission.

39. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed, configure a wireless device to:

receive:

a first value for a first time alignment timer (TAT) associated with a primary cell group; and

a second value for a second TAT associated with a secondary cell group; and

while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

stop uplink transport block transmission via at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group; and

transmit, for the at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group, channel state information.

40. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 39 , wherein the instructions, when executed, configure the wireless device to stop the uplink transport block transmission by causing the wireless device to at least one of: stop re-transmissions of uplink transport blocks or stop transmissions of new uplink transport blocks.

41. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 39 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further configure the wireless device to perform, based on the first TAT expiring, at least one of:

stopping uplink transport block transmission via a cell of the primary cell group or via a cell of the secondary cell group; or

clearing at least one Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) buffer associated with a cell of the primary cell group or associated with a cell of the secondary cell group.

42. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 39 , wherein the instructions, when executed, configure the wireless device to, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

transmit Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) positive acknowledgements and HARQ negative acknowledgements, wherein the HARQ positive acknowledgements and the HARQ negative acknowledgements correspond to transport blocks received via at least one cell of the primary cell group or of the secondary cell group.

43. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 39 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further configure the wireless device to, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

clear at least one Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) buffer associated with the at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group.

44. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 39 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further configure the wireless device to, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

transmit, for the at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group, a Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ).

45. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed, configure a base station to:

transmit:

a first value for a first time alignment timer (TAT) associated with a primary cell group; and

a second value for a second TAT associated with a secondary cell group; and

while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

stop receiving uplink transport block transmission via at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group; and

receive, for the at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group, channel state information transmission.

46. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 45 , wherein the instructions, when executed, configure the base station to stop receiving the uplink transport block transmission by causing the base station to at least one of: stop receiving re-transmissions of uplink transport blocks or stop receiving transmissions of new uplink transport blocks.

47. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 45 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further configure the base station to stop, based on the first TAT expiring, receiving uplink transport block transmission via a cell of the primary cell group or via a cell of the secondary cell group.

48. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 45 , wherein the instructions, when executed, configure the base station to, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

receive Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) positive acknowledgements and HARQ negative acknowledgements, wherein the HARQ positive acknowledgements and the HARQ negative acknowledgements correspond to transport blocks received via at least one cell of the primary cell group or of the secondary cell group.

49. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 45 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further configure the base station to transmit configuration parameters associated with a plurality of cells, wherein the plurality of cells comprises the primary cell group and the secondary cell group, and wherein:

uplink transmission timing associated with the primary cell group is based on a first cell of the primary cell group; and

uplink transmission timing associated with the secondary cell group is based on a second cell of the secondary cell group.

50. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 45 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further configure the base station to, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

receive, for the at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group, Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) transmission.

51. A system comprising:

a base station comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions; and

a wireless device comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions,

wherein the instructions stored in the memory of the base station, when executed by the one or more processors of the base station, cause the base station to transmit:

a first value for a first time alignment timer (TAT) associated with a primary cell group; and

a second value for a second TAT associated with a secondary cell group, and

wherein the instructions stored in the memory of the wireless device, when executed by the one or more processors of the wireless device, cause the wireless device to, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

stop uplink transport block transmission via at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group; and

transmit, for the at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group, channel state information.

52. The system of claim 51 , wherein the instructions stored in the memory of the wireless device, when executed by the one or more processors of the wireless device, cause the wireless device to stop the uplink transport block transmission by causing the wireless device to at least one of: stop re-transmissions of uplink transport blocks or stop transmissions of new uplink transport blocks.

53. The system of claim 51 , wherein the instructions stored in the memory of the wireless device, when executed by the one or more processors of the wireless device, further cause the wireless device to perform, based on the first TAT expiring, at least one of:

stopping uplink transport block transmission via a cell of the primary cell group or via a cell of the secondary cell group; or

clearing at least one Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) buffer associated with a cell of the primary cell group or associated with a cell of the secondary cell group.

54. The system of claim 51 , wherein the instructions stored in the memory of the wireless device, when executed by the one or more processors of the wireless device, cause the wireless device to, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

transmit Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) positive acknowledgements and HARQ negative acknowledgements, wherein the HARQ positive acknowledgements and the HARQ negative acknowledgements correspond to transport blocks received via at least one cell of the primary cell group or of the secondary cell group.

55. The system of claim 51 , wherein the instructions stored in the memory of the base station, when executed by the one or more processors of the base station, further cause the base station to transmit configuration parameters associated with a plurality of cells, wherein the plurality of cells comprises the primary cell group and the secondary cell group, and wherein:

uplink transmission timing associated with the primary cell group is based on a first cell of the primary cell group; and

uplink transmission timing associated with the secondary cell group is based on a second cell of the secondary cell group.

56. The system of claim 51 , wherein the instructions stored in the memory of the wireless device, when executed by the one or more processors of the wireless device, further cause the wireless device to, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

clear at least one Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) buffer associated with the at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group.

57. The system of claim 51 , wherein the instructions stored in the memory of the wireless device, when executed by the one or more processors of the wireless device, further cause the wireless device to, while the second TAT is expired and the first TAT is running:

transmit, for the at least one activated cell of the secondary cell group, a Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ).
