Anti-slip, noise reducing pad directly applied and adhered to the back of flooring materials and method
Flooring material has an anti-slip, noise reducing pad directly self-adhered to a bottom surface. The pad is formed by applying a foamable PVC material is directly on the bottom surface of the flooring and heating the PVC material to foam the PVC material. The PVC material may then be cooled to form the pad with a definite formed shape having a resilient outer surface layer and a spongy foamy inner structure.
1. A method of producing a flooring material comprising:
providing a substrate of the flooring material;
pressing a polyvinyl chloride material to a bottom surface of the substrate with a brush roller and adhering the polyvinyl chloride material to the bottom surface of the substrate without any adhesive materials wherein the polyvinyl chloride material is adapted and configured to foam when subjected to heat;
heating the polyvinyl chloride material in a manner to form a foam inner structure; and
cooling the polyvinyl chloride material in a manner to form a resilient surface layer for the polyvinyl chloride material on the bottom surface of the substrate.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the step of applying the polyvinyl chloride material to the bottom surface of the substrate comprises applying the polyvinyl chloride material to bottom surface of the substrate in a pattern comprising at least one of lines and dots.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the step of applying the polyvinyl chloride material to the bottom surface of the substrate comprises applying the polyvinyl chloride material to bottom surface of the substrate in a manner where the polyvinyl chloride material covers between about 40 percent and about 85 percent of an area of the bottom surface of the substrate.
4. The method of claim 1 further comprising adhering a mesh material to the bottom surface of the substrate when applying the polyvinyl chloride material to the bottom surface of the substrate.
5. The method of claim 4 wherein the step of adhering the mesh material to the bottom surface of the substrate comprises providing the mesh material as at least one of a fiberglass mesh, a polyester mesh, a polyamide mesh, a spandex mesh, and a cotton mesh.
6. The method of claim 1 wherein the step of providing the substrate comprises providing the substrate as at least one of ceramic tile, granite, marble, laminate, engineered wood, solid wood, magnesium oxide, fiber board, stone and carpet.
7. The method of claim 1 further comprising cleaning the substrate by at least one of sanding, abrading, brushing, dusting, and electrostatic elimination prior to applying the polyvinyl chloride material.
8. The method of claim 1 further comprising adding a coloring material to the polyvinyl chloride material prior to applying the polyvinyl chloride material to the bottom surface of the substrate.
9. The method of claim 1 wherein the step of pressing the polyvinyl chloride material to the bottom surface of the substrate comprises removing excess polyvinyl chloride material from the brush roller with a scraper.
10. The method of claim 1 wherein the step of applying the polyvinyl chloride material to the bottom surface of the substrate further comprises pressing the polyvinyl chloride material on the bottom surface of the substrate with a scraper.
