Abstract

A temperature-controlled massage node that imparts either or both a heating or cooling effects is provided, which may be attached to a massager to impart a heating or cooling effect on a user with a massage effect, or optionally, without a massage effect. The temperature-controlled massage node may be affixed to the massager or may be removably coupled. The temperature-controlled massage node may be powered by the same power source as the massager or may include an independent power source located, for example, in the massage node. The massage node may be used with a massager that provides percussive massage effects, such as a massage gun, or may be used with a vibrating massager. Optionally, the massage node may include independent power, a controller and a motor to supply both a vibrating massage effect and hot and cold effect, either alone or in combination.

a heating element positioned within the node housing;

a contact medium positioned above the heating element on the upper portion of the node housing;

and

a light source positioned on a mounting surface of the first end of the massager housing, where the light source is configured to emit light towards the area being massaged by the massage node without being fully obstructed by the massage node when the massage node is attached to the massager housing, where the light source is configured to emit light in a first state when the heating element in the node housing is off and a second state when the heating element in the node housing is on.

2. The massager of claim 1 , where the heating element is a Peltier plate and is configured to both heat and cool the massage node.

3. The massager of claim 2 , where the light source includes at least one LED and where the at least one LED is a multi-colored LED, where the at least one LED is configured to illuminate in the second state when the Peltier plate is heating the node and a third state when the Peltier plate is cooling the node.

4. The massager of claim 2 , where the light source includes a plurality of LEDs comprising a first set of LEDs configured to illuminate in one color and the second set of LEDs configured to illuminate in another color, where the plurality of LEDs is configured to illuminate the light source in the second state when the Peltier plate is heating the node and a third state when the Peltier plate is cooling the node.

5. The massager of claim 2 where the contact medium is configured to be either heated or cooled by the Peltier plate and where the light source is configured to illuminate a first color when the contact medium is heated and a second color when the contact medium is cooled.

6. The massager of claim 5 , where the first color is a shade of red and the second color is a shade of blue.

7. The massager of claim 2 where the contact medium is configured to be either heated or cooled by the Peltier plate and where the light source is configured to illuminate in the second state when the contact medium is heated and a third state when the contact medium is cooled.

8. The massager of claim 1 , where at least one electrical contact plate is located on the lower portion of the node housing.

9. The massager of claim 8 , where the electrical contact plate is a leaf spring plate.

10. A massager having a temperature-controlled massage node, the massager comprising:

a massager housing;

a massage node, where the massage node includes:

a node housing having an upper portion and lower portion, where the lower portion removably attaches to the massager housing;

a heating element positioned within the node housing, the heating element in communication with at least one electrical contact;

a contact medium positioned above the heating element on the upper portion of the node housing;

an indication display including at least one LED positioned on a mounting surface on the first end of the massager housing, where the indication display is configured to emit light on the area being massaged by the massage node without being fully obstructed by the massage node when the massage node is attached to the massager housing, where the indication display is configured to emit light in a first state when the heating element is on; and

a control display for controlling the operation of the massager, the control display positioned on the massager housing separate from the indication display.

11. The massager of claim 10 , where the heating element is a Peltier plate and is configured to both heat and cool the massage node.

12. The massager of claim 11 , where the at least one LED is a multi-colored LED, where the at least one LED is configured to illuminate in a first state when the Peltier plate is heating the node and second state when the Peltier plate is cooling the node.

13. The massager of claim 11 , where the indication display includes a plurality of LEDs comprising a first set of LEDs configured to illuminate in one color and a second set of LEDs configured to illuminate in another color, where the plurality of LEDs is configured to illuminate the indication display in a first state when the Peltier plate is heating the node and second state when the Peltier plate is cooling the node.

14. The massager of claim 11 where the contact medium is configured to be either heated or cooled by the Peltier plate and where the at least one LED is configured to illuminate a first color when contact medium is heated and a second color when the contact medium is cooled.

15. The massager of claim 14 , where the first color is a shade of red and the second color is a shade of blue.

16. The massager of claim 11 where the contact medium is configured to be either heated or cooled by the Peltier plate and where the at least one LED is configured to illuminate in a first state when the contact medium is heated and a second state when the contact medium is cooled.

17. The massager of claim 10 , where the indication display is a light ring.

18. The massager of claim 10 , where the massager housing has a first end, where the lower portion of the massage node removably attaches to the first end of the massager housing and where the indication display is positioned on the first end of the massager housing.

19. The massager of claim 18 , where the indication display is a light ring.

20. A massager having a temperature-controlled massage node, the massager comprising:

a massager housing having a main body having a front end having a peripheral edge and a rear end, where a light source is positioned on the peripheral edge of the front end of the main body of the massager housing;
