Abstract

Methods, apparatus, and computer readable media related to determining that no resources responsive to a query of a user at a first time satisfy one or more criteria (e.g., one or more quality criteria) and, in response to such a determination: providing for presentation to the user at a later time, content that is based on a given resource that is responsive to the query at the later time and that satisfies the criteria. The given resource that is responsive to the query at the later time may be a resource that is in addition to any resources responsive to the query at the first time or may be a refined version of a resource that was responsive to the query at the first time.

Claims (42)

1. A method implemented by one or more processors, comprising:

determining that, at a first time, a given user directed a spoken query to an automated assistant;

monitoring for presence of a given resource that is responsive to the spoken query and that satisfies one or more criteria,

the given resource being in addition to any resources provided, by the automated assistant, responsive to the spoken query at the first time;

determining, during the monitoring and subsequent to the first time, presence of the given resource that is responsive to the spoken query and that satisfies the one or more criteria;

subsequent to determining presence of the given resource that is responsive to the spoken query, receiving unrelated user interface input, from the user, that is directed to the automated assistant,

wherein the unrelated user interface input is unrelated to the spoken query and is unrelated to the given resource;

in response to receiving the unrelated user interface input, providing:

initial responsive output that is responsive to the unrelated user interface input; and

content that is generated based on the given resource that is responsive to the spoken query and that satisfies the one or more criteria,

wherein the initial responsive output responsive to the unrelated user interface input and the content generated based on the given resource responsive to the spoken query are provided to be rendered in a same dialog session,

wherein providing the content is responsive to determining the presence of the given resource and is responsive to determining that, at the first time, the given user directed the spoken query to the automated assistant,

wherein providing the content is following providing the initial responsive output, and

wherein providing the content occurs without receiving any additional input provided by the user following the unrelated user interface input.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the query is received at a first computing device, wherein the unrelated user interface input is received at a second computing device that is in addition to the first computing device, and wherein the initial responsive output and the content are provided at the second computing device.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein, at the first time, none of any resources identified by the automated assistant as responsive to the spoken query satisfied one or more criteria.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the one or more criteria comprise having an indication as being an authoritative answer to the spoken query.

5. The method of claim 3 , further comprising:

providing, in response to the spoken query at the first time, a notification that reflects that none of any resources, identified as responsive to the spoken query at the first time, satisfied the one or more criteria.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the notification further informs the user that if a resource becomes available, that satisfies the one or more criteria, associated content will be automatically provided to the user.

7. The method of claim 6 , further comprising:

receiving, in response to the notification, affirmative user input that indicates the user desires the associated content to be automatically provided;

wherein providing the content is further responsive to receiving the affirmative user input.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the given resource is an entry in a knowledge graph.

9. A system comprising:

one or more storage devices storing instructions;

one or more processors executing the instructions to:

determine that, at a first time, a given user directed a spoken query to an automated assistant;

monitor for presence of a given resource that is responsive to the spoken query and that satisfies one or more criteria,

the given resource being in addition to any resources provided, by the automated assistant, responsive to the spoken query at the first time;

determine, during the monitoring and subsequent to the first time, presence of the given resource that is responsive to the spoken query and that satisfies the one or more criteria;

subsequent to determining presence of the given resource that is responsive to the spoken query, receive unrelated user interface input, from the user, that is directed to the automated assistant,

wherein the unrelated user interface input is unrelated to the spoken query and is unrelated to the given resource;

in response to receiving the unrelated user interface input, provide:

initial responsive output that is responsive to the unrelated user interface input; and

content that is generated based on the given resource that is responsive to the spoken query and that satisfies the one or more criteria,

wherein the initial responsive output responsive to the unrelated user interface input and the content generated based on the given resource responsive to the spoken query are provided to be rendered in a same dialog session,

wherein providing the content is responsive to determining the presence of the given resource and is responsive to determining that, at the first time, the given user directed the spoken query to the automated assistant, and

wherein providing the content is following the initial responsive output and without receiving any additional input provided by the user following the unrelated user interface input.

10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the unrelated user interface input is an additional spoken query that is unrelated to the spoken query.

11. The system of claim 9 , wherein the initial responsive output is not responsive to the spoken query.

12. The system of claim 9 , wherein the dialog session is unrelated to the spoken query.
