Abstract

Embodiments described include systems and methods for incorporating a watermark in an audio output. An embedded browser, which is executable on one or more processors of a client device, may detect an audio data stream from a network application accessed via the embedded browser. A watermarking engine of the embedded browser intercepts the audio data stream responsive to detecting the audio data stream. The watermarking engine incorporates a digital signal corresponding to a watermark into the audio data stream, prior to being produced as an audio output by an audio speaker. The watermarking engine causes the watermark to be present in the audio output produced by the audio speaker, the watermark configured to be inaudible by a human and recordable by an audio recording device.

Claims (33)

1 . A method comprising:

receiving, by an application container executable on a client device, audio data from an application executable within the application container;

modifying, by the application container, the audio data to add data to the audio data based at least on the application, the addition of the data being done before output of the audio data by the client device, and the added data configured to identify presence of the audio data within an audio recording; and

providing, by the application container, the modified audio data to a component of the client device to output the modified audio data instead of the audio data received from the application.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing, by the application container access to a plurality of applications via the application container, the plurality of applications hosted on one or more remote computing devices.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the application is accessed via a browser within the application container.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving, by the application container, audio data from a remote computing device hosting the application.

5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving, by the application container, audio data as part of an audio data stream from a remote computing device.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the component comprises an audio output device of the client device.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the added data comprises a watermark configured to be inaudible by a human and recordable by an audio recording device

8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining, by the client device, to add the data to the audio data based at least on a profile of the application.

9 . A client device comprising:

an application container executable on the client device, the application container configured to:

receive audio data from an application executable within the application container;

modify the audio data to add data to the audio data based at least on the application, the addition of the data being done before output of the audio data by the client device, and the added data configured to identify presence of the audio data within an audio recording; and

provide the modified audio data to a component of the client device to output the modified audio data instead of the audio data received from the application.

10 . The client device of claim 9 , wherein the application container is further configured to provide access to a plurality of applications via the application container, the plurality of applications hosted on one or more remote computing devices.

11 . The client device of claim 9 , wherein the application is accessed via a browser within the application container.

12 . The client device of claim 9 , wherein the application container is further configured to receive the audio data from a remote computing device hosting the application.

13 . The client device of claim 9 , wherein the application container is further configured to receive audio data as part of an audio data stream from a remote computing device.

14 . The client device of claim 9 , wherein the component comprises an audio output device of the client device.

15 . The client device of claim 9 , wherein the added data comprises a watermark configured to be inaudible by a human and recordable by an audio recording device

16 . The client device of claim 9 , wherein the application container is further configured to determine to add the data to the audio data based at least on a profile of the application.

17 . A system comprising:

a client device in communication with one or more remote computing devices hosting a plurality of applications,

a client application executable on the client device, the client application configured to provide access to the plurality of applications via a browser within the client application:

wherein the client application is configured to:

receive audio data from an application of the plurality of applications;

add data to the audio data based at least on the application, the addition of the data being done before output of the audio data by the client device, and the added data configured to identify presence of the data within a recording of the audio data; and

output the audio data with the added instead of the audio data received from the application.

18 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the added data comprises a watermark configured to be inaudible by a human and recordable by an audio recording device

19 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the client application is further configured to receive the audio data as part of an audio data stream from the one or more remote computing devices.

20 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the client application is further configured to determine to add the data to the audio data based at least on a profile of the application
