Compositions and methods for the prevention and treatment of hearing loss
Method, kit and pharmaceutical compositions using an inhibitor of EGFR signaling for prevention or treatment of hearing loss are described.
1. A method to prevent cisplatin-induced hearing loss comprising: orally administering to animal in need thereof a pharmaceutical composition comprised of: a sufficient amount of Dabrafenib to prevent hearing loss due to cisplatin treatment, wherein the sufficient amount of Dabrafenib is 100 mg/kg.
2. The method of claim 1 , comprising: orally co-administering to animal in need thereof a pharmaceutical composition comprised of: a sufficient amount of Dabrafenib and Trametinib to prevent hearing loss due to cisplatin treatment, wherein the sufficient amount of Trametinib is 2 mg/kg twice daily.
3. A method to prevent noise induced hearing loss comprising: orally administering to an animal in need thereof a pharmaceutical composition comprised of: a sufficient amount of Dabrafenib to prevent hearing loss due to a noise exposure, wherein the sufficient amount of Dabrafenib is 100 mg/kg twice daily.
4. The method of claim 3 , wherein Dabrafenib is administered 45 minutes before the noise exposure.
5. The method of claim 3 , wherein Dabrafenib is administered for three days after the noise exposure.
6. The method of claim 3 , comprising co-administering a pharmaceutical composition comprised of: a sufficient amount of AZD5438 to prevent hearing loss due to a noise exposure.
7. The method of claim 3 , wherein Dabrafenib is administered 45 minutes before the noise exposure, wherein the sufficient amount of Dabrafenib is 60 mg/kg twice daily.
8. A method to prevent noise induced hearing loss comprising: orally administering to an animal in need thereof a pharmaceutical composition comprised of: a sufficient amount of Dabrafenib to prevent hearing loss due to a noise exposure wherein the sufficient amount of Dabrafenib is 60 mg/kg twice daily and administering a sufficient amount of AZD5438.
9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the sufficient amount of AZD5438 is 35 mg/kg twice daily.
