Abstract

Disclosed are various approaches for workflow service back end integration. In some examples, a workflow service identifies a workflow action and a user account that is responsible for the workflow action. A command to present the workflow action for user authorization is transmitted to a client device associated with the user account. The workflow service transmits a command to perform the workflow action based on an identification of the user authorization.

Claims (37)

1. A system, comprising:

a computing device comprising at least one processor and at least one memory; and

machine-readable instructions stored in the at least one memory, wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the computing device to at least:

identify, by a workflow service, a workflow action to perform using a network service that requires authentication to perform the workflow action, and a user account that is responsible for the workflow action;

transmit, by the workflow service to a client device associated with the user account that is responsible for the workflow action, a command to present the workflow action for user authorization on the client device, wherein a description of the workflow action is provided along with an indication of how to provide the user authorization for the workflow service to perform the workflow action on behalf of a user of the client device; and

transmit, by the workflow service, at least one command to perform the authentication between the workflow service and the network service, and perform the workflow action on behalf of the user, based at least in part on an identification of the user authorization using the client device.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the workflow service performs the workflow action using the network service associated with the workflow action.

3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the workflow service performs the authentication with the network service using authentication data stored by the workflow service in association with the user account.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the workflow service generates a user interface through which an enterprise specifies the network service to perform the workflow action and associates the workflow action with the network service specified.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the computing device to at least:

determine, by the workflow service, the workflow action to perform based on at least one event monitored by the workflow service.

6. The system of claim 5 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the computing device to at least:

periodically query, by the workflow service, a network service to monitor at least a subset of the at least one event.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the user authorization of the workflow action comprises: a voice command detected using the client device, or selection of a user interface element rendered on the client device.

8. A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising machine-readable instructions, wherein the instructions, when executed by at least one processor, cause a computing device to at least:

identify, by a workflow service, a workflow action to perform using a network service that requires authentication to perform the workflow action, and a user account that is responsible for the workflow action;

transmit, by the workflow service to a client device associated with the user account that is responsible for the workflow action, a command to present the workflow action for user authorization on the client device, wherein a description of the workflow action is provided along with an indication of how to provide the user authorization for the workflow service to perform the workflow action on behalf of a user of the client device; and

transmit, by the workflow service, at least one command to perform the authentication between the workflow service and the network service, and perform the workflow action based at least in part on an identification of the user authorization using the client device.

9. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the workflow service performs the workflow action using the network service associated with the workflow action.

10. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the workflow service performs the authentication with the network service using authentication data stored by the workflow service in association with the user account.

11. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the workflow service generates a user interface through which an enterprise specifies the network service to perform the workflow action and associates the workflow action with the network service specified.

12. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the computing device to at least:

determine, by the workflow service, the workflow action to perform based on at least one event monitored by the workflow service.

13. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the computing device to at least:

periodically query, by the workflow service, a network service to monitor at least a subset of the at least one event.

14. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the user authorization of the workflow action comprises: a voice command detected using the client device, or selection of a user interface element rendered on the client device.

15. A method, comprising:

identifying, by a workflow service, a workflow action to perform using a network service, and a user account that is responsible for the workflow action;

transmitting, by the workflow service to a client device associated with the user account that is responsible for the workflow action, a command to present the workflow action for user authorization on the client device, wherein a description of the workflow action is provided along with an indication of how to provide the user authorization for the workflow service to perform the workflow action rather than manually performing the workflow action using the client device; and

transmitting, by the workflow service, at least one command to perform an authentication between the workflow service and the network service, and perform the workflow action based at least in part on an identification of the user authorization using the client device.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the workflow service performs the workflow action using network service associated with the workflow action.

17. The method of claim 16 , wherein the workflow service performs the authentication with the network service using authentication data stored by the workflow service in association with the user account.

18. The method of claim 15 , wherein the workflow service generates a user interface through which an enterprise specifies the network service to perform the workflow action and associates the workflow action with the network service specified.

19. The method of claim 15 , further comprising:

determine, by the workflow service, the workflow action to perform based on at least one event monitored by the workflow service.

20. The method of claim 19 , further comprising:

periodically query, by the workflow service, a network service to monitor at least a subset of the at least one event.
