Abstract

A curb assembly for a heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning (HVAC) system includes a frame configured to couple to a curb of a structure, a pedestal system configured to couple to a housing of the HVAC system and to the frame, such that the pedestal system extends from the housing to the frame, and an adjustable duct connector configured to fluidly couple an air flow passage of the housing with ductwork of the structure. The pedestal system is configured to enclose a space formed between the frame and the housing and the adjustable duct connector configured to be disposed within the space.

Claims (14)

1. A curb assembly kit for a housing of a heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning (HVAC) system, comprising:

a frame configured to couple to a curb of a structure to be conditioned by the HVAC system;

a support beam configured to couple to the housing and to engage the frame such that a space is formed between the housing and the frame, wherein the support beam is configured to support a weight of the housing; and

a duct connector configured to be disposed in the space, and is configured to fluidly couple an air flow passage of the curb with an air flow passage of the housing,

wherein the curb assembly kit is configured to transition between an extended configuration in which the support beam extends away from a mounting frame of the housing and a compact configuration in which the support beam does not extend away from the mounting frame of the housing.

2. The curb assembly kit of claim 1 , wherein the support beam has an aperture configured to receive a fastener to secure the support beam to the frame.

3. The curb assembly kit of claim 1 , wherein the duct connector is an adjustable duct connector, the adjustable duct connector includes a first end configured to couple to the air flow passage of the curb and includes a second end configured to couple to the air flow passage of the housing to fluidly couple ductwork of the structure to the HVAC system.

4. The curb assembly kit of claim 1 , wherein the duct connector includes a stabilizing rod configured to maintain a position of the duct connector relative to the curb.

5. The curb assembly kit of claim 1 , comprising a plurality of panels configured to couple to the frame and the housing to enclose the space between the housing and the frame.

6. The curb assembly kit of claim 5 , wherein the frame has a frame flange configured to engage with at least one panel of the plurality of panels.

7. The curb assembly kit of claim 1 , comprising a hinge including a first plate and a second plate configured to rotate relative to the first plate about a pivot, wherein the second plate is configured to couple to the mounting frame of the housing, and the first plate is coupled to the support beam, such that the support beam is rotatable about the pivot.

8. The curb assembly kit of claim 7 , wherein the support beam includes an extension member configured to couple to the first plate, the first plate is configured to couple to a base surface of the housing in the compact configuration, the support beam is configured to rotate about the pivot between a first position and a second position, wherein the support beam extends generally perpendicularly to the base surface in the first position, and the support beam extends generally parallel to the base surface in the second position.

9. The curb assembly kit of claim 1 , wherein the duct connector is a first duct connector, the air flow passage of the curb is a first air flow passage of the curb, the air flow passage of the housing is an air flow outlet of the housing, and the curb assembly kit includes a second duct connector configured to be disposed in the space, wherein the second duct connector is configured to couple to a second air flow passage of the curb and to an air flow inlet of the housing.

10. The curb assembly kit of claim 9 , wherein the first duct connector is configured to direct supply air from the HVAC system to ductwork of the structure, and the second duct connector is configured to direct return air from the ductwork to the HVAC system.
