Abstract

Various embodiments of cervical plates for treating the spine are provided. The cervical plates include an access surface and a bone facing surface. The cervical plate further includes at least one hole between the access surface and the bone facing surface. The hole includes a trajectory surface that guides an anchor into a corner or edge of a vertebral body, wherein a portion of the hole extends into the disc space region. In some embodiments, the cervical plate includes a ledge to support high angle screw insertion. In some embodiments, an interbody implant is provided. The cervical plate and the interbody spacer can have a corresponding curvature.

Claims (29)

1. An inserter assembly, comprising:

an interbody implant inserter comprising a first retention feature and an anti-rotation feature, the interbody implant inserter comprising a first position along a length of the interbody implant inserter and a second position along the length of the interbody implant inserter; and

a cervical plate comprising an engagement feature and a complementary anti-rotation feature; and

an interbody spacer, wherein the interbody implant inserter is configured to couple with the interbody spacer, wherein the cervical plate is disposed at the first position and is configured to translate along the length of the interbody implant inserter toward the second position.

2. The inserter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first retention feature comprises an arm extending from a handle.

3. The inserter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first retention feature is configured to be depressed to release the cervical plate.

4. The inserter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first retention feature comprises a lever release mechanism.

5. The inserter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first retention feature comprises a projection and the engagement feature comprises a groove.

6. The inserter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first retention feature is configured to pivot.

7. The inserter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the engagement feature comprises a shaped surface.

8. The inserter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the engagement feature comprises a shape complementary to the first retention feature.

9. The inserter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the interbody implant inserter comprises a second retention feature.

10. An inserter assembly, comprising:

an interbody implant inserter comprising a first retention feature and an anti-rotation feature, the interbody implant inserter comprising a first position along a length of the interbody implant inserter and a second position along the length of the interbody implant inserter; and

a cervical plate comprising an engagement feature and a complementary anti-rotation feature,

wherein the cervical plate is disposed at the first position and is configured to translate along the length of the interbody implant inserter toward the second position.

11. The inserter assembly of claim 10 , wherein the first retention feature comprises two or more diametrically opposed structures.

12. The inserter assembly of claim 10 , wherein the first retention feature is biased into engagement with the cervical plate.

13. The inserter assembly of claim 10 , wherein the first retention feature comprises one or more tabs.

14. The inserter assembly of claim 10 , wherein the engagement feature comprises a groove.

15. The inserter assembly of claim 10 , wherein the engagement feature comprises a flattened portion.

16. The inserter assembly of claim 10 , wherein the interbody implant inserter comprises an outer shaft, wherein a second retention feature extends along a portion of a length of the outer shaft.

17. An inserter assembly, comprising:

an interbody implant inserter comprising a first retention feature and an anti-rotation feature, the interbody implant inserter comprising a first position along a length of the interbody implant inserter and a second position along the length of the interbody implant inserter; and

a cervical plate comprising an engagement feature and a complementary anti-rotation feature,

wherein the first retention feature is configured to couple with the engagement feature, wherein the cervical plate is disposed at the first position and is configured to translate along the length of the interbody implant inserter toward the second position.

18. The inserter assembly of claim 17 , wherein the first retention feature comprises one or more spring-biased arms.

19. The inserter assembly of claim 17 , wherein the engagement feature comprises a pair of diametrically opposed surfaces.

20. The inserter assembly of claim 17 , wherein the interbody implant inserter comprises an outer shaft comprising the anti-rotation feature.
