Abstract

An access and mobility management function receives, from a session management function, a request to set up a communication with a wireless device for transmitting downlink data. The access and mobility management function sends, based on the request, to the base station, a first paging message for a closed access group (CAG) wireless device that is allowed to access CAG cells. The first paging message indicates transitioning the CAG wireless device from an idle state to a connected state. The first paging message comprises a parameter indicating whether the wireless device is allowed to access non-CAG cells.

Claims (47)

1. A method comprising:

receiving, by an access and mobility management function from a session management function, a request to set up a communication with a wireless device for transmitting downlink data; and

based on the request, sending, to a base station, a first paging message for a closed access group (CAG) wireless device that is allowed to access CAG cells, wherein the first paging message indicates:

transitioning the CAG wireless device from an idle state to a connected state; and

whether the wireless device is allowed to access non-CAG cells.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first paging message further comprises one or more CAG identifiers of the wireless device.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving, from the session management function, a message comprising one or more CAG identifiers associated with the base station.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the message indicates whether the base station comprises a non-CAG cell.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising sending the first paging message to the base station based on:

none of one or more CAG identifiers of the base station being in a list of the one or more CAG identifiers of the wireless device;

an indication that the base station comprises a non-CAG cell; and

the wireless device being allowed to access the non-CAG cell.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving, from the base station, a setup request message comprising:

at least one CAG identifier associated with the base station; and

an indication of whether the base station comprises a non-CAG cell.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving, by the session management function from a user plane function, a data notification wherein the session management function sends the request to set up the communication with the wireless device based on the data notification.

8. An access and mobility management function comprising: one or more processors; and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the access and mobility management function to:

receive, from a session management function, a request to set up a communication with a wireless device for transmitting downlink data; and

send, to a base station based on the request, a first paging message for a closed access group (CAG) wireless device that is allowed to access CAG cells, wherein the first paging message indicates:

transitioning the CAG wireless device from an idle state to a connected state; and

whether the wireless device is allowed to access non-CAG cells.

9. The access and mobility management function of claim 8 , wherein the first paging message further comprises one or more CAG identifiers of the wireless device.

10. The access and mobility management function of claim 8 , further comprising receiving, from the session management function, a message comprising one or more CAG identifiers associated with the base station.

11. The access and mobility management function of claim 10 , wherein the message indicates whether the base station comprises a non-CAG cell.

12. The access and mobility management function of claim 11 , further comprising sending the first paging message to the base station based on:

none of one or more CAG identifiers of the base station being in a list of the one or more CAG identifiers of the wireless device;

the message received from the session management function indicating that the base station comprises a non-CAG cell; and

the wireless device being allowed to access the non-CAG cell.

13. The access and mobility management function of claim 8 , further comprising receiving, from the base station, a setup request message comprising:

at least one CAG identifier associated with the base station; and

an indication of whether the base station comprises a non-CAG cell.

14. The access and mobility management function of claim 8 , wherein the request to setup the communication with the wireless device is received by the access and mobility management function after the access and mobility management function receives a data notification from a user plane function.

15. An access and mobility management function comprising: one or more processors; and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the access and mobility management function to:

receive, from a base station, a message; and

send, to the base station based on the message, a first paging message for a closed access group (CAG) wireless device that is allowed to access CAG cells, wherein the first paging message indicates:

transitioning the CAG wireless device from an idle state to a connected state; and

whether the wireless device is allowed to access non-CAG cells.

16. The access and mobility management function of claim 15 , wherein the first paging message further comprises one or more CAG identifiers of the wireless device.

17. The access and mobility management function of claim 15 , wherein the message comprises one or more CAG identifiers associated with the base station.

18. The access and mobility management function of claim 15 , wherein the message indicates whether the base station comprises a non-CAG cell.

19. The access and mobility management function of claim 18 , further comprising sending the first paging message to the base station based on:

none of one or more CAG identifiers of the base station being in a list of the one or more CAG identifiers of the wireless device;

the message indicating that the base station comprises a non-CAG cell; and

the wireless device being allowed to access the non-CAG cell.

20. The access and mobility management function of claim 15 , further comprising receiving, from the base station, a setup request message comprising:

at least one CAG identifier associated with the base station; and

an indication of whether the base station comprises a non-CAG cell.
