Abstract

A station device in a biometric pre-identification system uses identity to perform one or more actions. Identities are determined (such as via a backend) using biometric information. A biometric pre-identification device obtains biometric information and/or a digital representation thereof from a person approaching the station device. The biometric pre-identification device transmits such to the station device, facilitating the station to begin and/or perform various actions. The station device begins or performs the actions using the identity determined based on the biometric information before the person arrives at the station device.

Claims (39)

1. A system for biometric pre-identification, comprising:

a non-transitory storage medium that stores instructions; and

at least one processor that executes the instructions to:

determine an identity of a person using a digital representation of a biometric for the person prior to arrival of the person in an area;

associate the person with an item in the area;

signal a gate to open prior to arrival of the person in the area based at least on payment information stored in association with the identity and retrieved from a database using the digital representation of the biometric; and

facilitate processing of a payment for the item after the person leaves the area using the payment information stored in association with the identity and retrieved from the database using the digital representation of the biometric.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the payment information corresponds to a credit card.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the area corresponds to a merchant's facility.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the digital representation of the biometric corresponds to a palm print.

5. The system of claim 4 , further comprising a biometric reader that obtains the palm print.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the gate is coupled to an electronic device that includes the at least one processor.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor determines the identity by transmitting the digital representation of the biometric to a backend.

8. A system for biometric pre-identification, comprising:

a non-transitory storage medium that stores instructions; and

at least one processor that executes the instructions to:

determine an identity of a person using a digital representation of a biometric for the person prior to arrival of the person in an area;

signal a gate to open prior to arrival of the person in the area based at least on payment information stored in association with the identity and retrieved from a database using the digital representation of the biometric; and

facilitate processing of payment for an item in the area using the payment information stored in association with the identity and retrieved from the database using the digital representation of the biometric.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the payment information corresponds to a debit card.

10. The system of claim 8 , further comprising the gate.

11. The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor provides a ticket regarding the item.

12. The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor:

determines that an additional identity of an additional person who provided an additional digital representation of an additional biometric cannot be determined; and

enrolls the additional person.

13. The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is associated with a kiosk.

14. The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor determines the identity when the person is at an entrance.

15. A system for biometric pre-identification, comprising:

a non-transitory storage medium that stores instructions; and

at least one processor that executes the instructions to:

determine an identity of a person using a digital representation of a biometric for the person before the person enters an area;

associate the person with an item in the area;

signal a gate to open prior to arrival of the person in the area based at least on financial information stored in association with the identity retrieved from a database using the digital representation of the biometric; and

facilitate processing of a payment for the item using the digital representation of the biometric, the digital representation of the biometric used to retrieve financial information from the database.

16. The system of claim 15 , wherein the at least one processor provides an indication that the payment is approved.

17. The system of claim 15 , wherein the item is a rental item.

18. The system of claim 15 , wherein the item includes food.

19. The system of claim 15 , wherein the item includes a beverage.

20. The system of claim 15 , wherein the at least one processor obtains the financial information for the person.
