Abstract

The system may be a device that allows for mixture of an additive to a substance in a line of flow. The system may include a hydration pack with a reservoir that may contain a first substance, such as water. The system may include a cartridge with an additive that is mixed to the line of flow through a Venturi which may include a rolling seal that is manipulated with a dial a user manipulates to adjust the amount of additive added to the line of flow. The mixed liquid may then be accessed through a hose from the system to a mouth piece. The system may be modular to allow a user to replace the cartridge by disengaging a first component and a second component of the system through a buckling mechanism and replacing the cartridge within the second component. The cartridges may be reusable, recyclable or disposable.

Claims (39)

1. A system for adding an additive to a hydration pack the system comprising:

a housing comprising:

a first component comprising a front plate, a back plate and a base plate with at least two posts extending from opposite sides of the base plate; and

a second component comprising a void and a channel in communication with the void, and at least two apertures extending through opposite sides of the second component and complementary to the at least two posts;

a cartridge configured to fit within the void of the second component, wherein the cartridge comprises a dove tail configured to complementary fit the channel; and

a Venturi positioned within the first component.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least two posts each comprise a shoulder configured to engage the at least two apertures of the second component.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least two posts are able to pass between the cartridge and the second component to engage the at least two apertures of the second component.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the Venturi is a Venturi system comprising a line of flow and at least one port.

5. The system of claim 4 , further comprising a dial configured to adjust an amount of additive being added to the line of flow.

6. The system of claim 5 , the dial comprising a tab and a gear to provide tactile feedback of the additive for adjusting the amount of additive with predetermined points on the dial, wherein the dial is positioned at least partially around an outlet port.

7. The system of claim 4 , further comprising a rolling seal configured to cover the at least one port in a first configuration and an actuation mechanism configured to manipulate the rolling seal to a second configuration.

8. The system of claim 7 , wherein the rolling seal circumferentially engages the Venturi system.

9. The system of claim 7 , wherein the cartridge contains an additive and is in communication with the Venturi system, wherein the additive is added to the line of flow with the rolling seal in the second configuration.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least two posts are deformable to fit into the at least two apertures.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the at least two posts include barbs, and wherein the at least two apertures provide a snap fit with the barbs of the at least two posts.

12. The system of claim 1 , wherein the Venturi is a Venturi system, and further comprising:

a first tube in communication with the Venturi system configured to carry a first substance from a reservoir; and

a second tube in communication with the Venturi system configured to carry the first substance and the additive to an outlet port.

13. The system of claim 12 , further comprising a mouth piece for a user to access the first substance and the additive.

14. A system for adding an additive to a hydration pack the system comprising:

a housing comprising:

a first component; and

a second component comprising a void, the second component configured to engage the first component;

a cartridge configured to fit within the void of the second component, the cartridge containing an additive;

a Venturi system positioned within the first component, the Venturi system comprising a line of flow and at least one flow port; and

an adjustment mechanism engaged with the first component, the adjustment mechanism configured to adjust an amount of additive being added to the line of flow.

15. The system of claim 14 , further comprising a rolling seal configured to cover the at least one flow port in a first configuration and an actuation mechanism configured to manipulate the rolling seal to a second configuration.

16. The system of claim 15 , wherein the cartridge is in communication with the Venturi system, wherein the additive is added to the line of flow with the rolling seal in the second configuration.

17. The system of claim 14 , further comprising at least two posts extending from the first component and at least two apertures extending through the second component, wherein the at least two posts are configured to engage the at least two apertures.

18. A system for adding an additive to a hydration pack the system comprising:

a housing comprising:

a first component; and

a second component comprising a void, the second component configured to engage the first component;

a cartridge configured to fit within the void of the second component;

a Venturi system positioned within the first component, the Venturi system comprising a line of flow and at least one flow port; and

an adjustment mechanism configured to adjust an amount of additive being added to the line of flow, wherein the adjustment mechanism is arranged to a least partially surround an outlet port configured to dispense mixed liquid.

19. The system of claim 18 , wherein the adjustment mechanism is a dial.

20. The system of claim 18 , further comprising at least two posts extending from the first component and at least two apertures extending through the second component, wherein the at least two posts are configured to engage the at least two apertures.
