Abstract

A pouch secondary battery is disclosed. One aspect of the present invention provides a pouch secondary battery including a casing configured to accommodate an electrode assembly from which electrode tabs are led; and the casing includes a sealing portion formed on three sides of four sides of the pouch secondary battery and an adhesion portion formed on the remaining one side; and an extending portion protruding perpendicularly with respect to the adhesion portion is formed in a portion adjacent to the adhesion portion in the sealing portion.

Claims (17)

1 . A method of fabricating a pouch secondary battery, the method comprising:

providing an electrode assembly connected to electrode tabs;

providing a casing in a sheet form;

forming a plurality of accommodation spaces and a rounded portion between the plurality of accommodation spaces on the casing, the rounded portion being convex upwardly, each of the plurality of accommodation spaces being convex downwardly;

accommodating the electrode assembly in one of the plurality of accommodation spaces of the casing so that the electrode tabs protrude externally;

forming a non-sealing portion, which is brought into close contact with at least one side surface of side surfaces of the electrode assembly, on the casing in a state in which the electrode assembly is accommodated in one of the plurality of accommodation spaces;

forming a sealing portion by bonding the casing at portions other than the non-sealing portion; and

forming an extending portion protruding in a forward direction with respect to the non-sealing portion in the sealing portion in a portion adjacent to the non-sealing portion,

wherein the extending portion protrudes in a direction perpendicular to a direction in which the electrode tabs protrude externally,

wherein the non-sealing portion forms a front face of the pouch secondary battery, the front face faces the forward direction,

wherein the electrode assembly is positioned behind the non-sealing portion.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of accommodation spaces and the rounded portion are formed, when a press frame presses the casing in the sheet form.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the rounded portion is spread along at least one side surface of the side surfaces of the electrode assembly when one remaining accommodation space of the plurality of accommodation spaces covers the electrode assembly.

4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the rounded portion is spread and the non-sealing portion which is brought into close contact with the electrode assembly is formed.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the rounded portion has a shape of a circular arc.

6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the extending portion includes a pair of extending portions which protrude with respect to the non-sealing portion,

wherein the non-sealing portion is positioned between the pair of extending portions.
