Methods for treating muscular dystrophy by administering a pharmaceutical composition comprising about 80 to about 300 mg/kg of an antisense oligomer, or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, are described. A method of treating Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) in a human subject having a mutation of the DMD gene that is amenable to exon 51 skipping, comprising administering to the human subject eteplirsen, or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein eteplirsen, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, is administered at a dose of about 80 mg/kg to about 300 mg/kg once a week.
