Abstract

The present invention is directed to compounds represented by the formula I: wherein R 1 comprises a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 2 carbon atoms; wherein R 2 comprises an alkylene group, an arylene group, or a heterocyclic group; and wherein R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , R 6 , R 7 , and R 8 are identical or different and comprise a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, or an alkylaryl group.

Claims (29)

1. A compound represented by formula I:

wherein R 1 is selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom and an alkyl group having 1 to 2 carbon atoms;

wherein R 2 is selected from the group consisting of an alkylene group having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, an arylene group having from 5 to 18 carbon atoms, and a heterocyclic group having from 5 to 12 carbon atoms; and

wherein R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , R 6 , R 7 , and R 8 are independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, and an alkylaryl group.

The compound of claim 1 , wherein R 1 is a hydrogen atom; wherein R 2 is an alkylene group having from 1 to 5 carbon atoms; and wherein R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , R 6 , R 7 , and R 8 are independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, an aryl group having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, and an alkylaryl group having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms.

The compound of claim 1 , wherein R 1 is a hydrogen atom; wherein R 2 comprises is an alkylene group having from 2 to 4 carbon atoms; and wherein R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , R 6 , R 7 , and R 8 are independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having from 1 to 8 carbons, an aryl group having from 1 to 8 carbons, and an alkylaryl group having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms.

A compound selected from the group consisting of (1,3,5-triazinane-1,3,5-triyl)tris(propane-3,1-diyl)tris(dibenzylcarbamo-(dithioperoxo)thioate), (1,3,5-triazinane-1,3,5-triyl)tris(propane-3,1-diyl)tris(diethylcarbamo-(dithioperoxo)thioate), (1,3,5-triazinane-1,3,5-triyl)tris(propane-3,1-diyl)tris(phenylcarbamo-(dithioperoxo)thioate), and (1,3,5-triazinane-1,3,5-triyl)tris(propane-3,1-diyl)tris(benzylmethyl-carbamo(dithioperoxo)thioate).

5. The compound of claim 4 , wherein the compound is (1,3,5-triazinane-1,3,5-triyl)tris(propane-3,1-diyl)tris(dibenzylcarbamo-(dithioperoxo)thioate).

6. The compound of claim 4 , wherein the compound is (1,3,5-triazinane-1,3,5-triyl)tris(propane-3,1-diyl)tris(diethylcarbamo-(dithioperoxo)thioate).

7. The compound of claim 4 , wherein the compound is (1,3,5-triazinane-1,3,5-triyl)tris(propane-3,1-diyl)tris(phenylcarbamo-(dithioperoxo)thioate).

8. The compound of claim 4 , wherein the compound is (1,3,5-triazinane-1,3,5-triyl)tris(propane-3,1-diyl)tris(benzylmethyl-carbamo(dithioperoxo)thioate).

9. A stabilizer composition comprising the compound of claim 1 and a carrier for said compound.

10. A vulcanizable elastomeric formulation comprising an elastomer and the compound of claim 1 .

11. The formulation of claim 10 wherein the compound is present in an amount of from 0.01 to 30 parts per 100 parts of elastomer.

12. The formulation of claim 10 wherein the compound is present in an amount of from 0.1 to 5.0 parts per 100 parts of elastomer.

13. A vulcanized elastomeric article formed from the vulcanizable elastomeric formulation of claim 10 .

14. The vulcanized elastomeric article of claim 13 wherein said vulcanized elastomeric article is a vehicle tire or a component thereof.

15. The vulcanized elastomeric article of claim 14 wherein said component is a sidewall.

16. The vulcanized elastomeric article of claim 14 , wherein said component is a tread.

17. A combustible fuel composition comprising a combustible fuel and the compound of claim 1 .

18. A fuel additive composition comprising a fuel additive and the compound of claim 1 .

19. A method of making the compound of claim 1 , comprising:

reacting a compound of formula II

wherein R 1 is selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom and an alkyl group having from 1 to 2 carbon atoms;

wherein R 2 is selected from the group consisting of an alkylene group having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, an arylene group having from 5 to 18 carbon atoms, and a heterocyclic group having from 5 to 12 carbon atoms;

wherein M is selected from the group consisting of a monovalent metallic cation, a multivalent metallic cation, and an ammonium or alkyl ammonium cation,

with a dithiocarbamate salt corresponding to formula III

wherein R and R′ are independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, and an alkylaryl group; and M′ is selected from the group consisting of a monovalent metallic cation, a multivalent metallic cation, and an ammonium or alkyl ammonium cation.

20. The method of claim 19 , wherein the compound of formula II is sodium S,S′,S″-((1,3,5-triazinane-1,3,5-triyl)tris(propane-3,1-diyl))tris(sulfuro-thioate), and the compound of formula III is sodium dibenzyldithiocarbamate.
