Abstract

In various implementations, an acceptable condition of a mobile device may be determined based on a remote verification of a condition of the mobile device, wherein a method to verify the mobile device may comprise a user requesting the verification of the mobile device, the performance of a diagnostic on the mobile device, the reception of a security data object associated with the mobile device by the system, and/or the determination that the mobile device has a security feature either disabled or enabled. When the security feature of the mobile device is enabled or disabled, the system may configure the GUI to direct a user to disable the security feature or the system may configure the GUI to show an acceptable condition when the security feature is disabled.

Claims (56)

1 . A computer executable method for remotely verifying a condition of a mobile device, said method comprising:

receiving, via a remote verification device, a request for verification of the condition of the mobile device;

based on the request, causing the mobile device to perform at least one diagnostic via a processor of the mobile device;

based on the request, requesting at least one security data object associated with the mobile device from a remote provider device via a network, wherein the remote verification device, the remote provider device, and the mobile device are separate devices in communication via the network and remote from each other;

based on the request, receiving the at least one security data object associated with the mobile device from the remote provider device via the network;

determining that the at least one security data object indicates that a security feature associated with the at least one security data object is enabled such that a geographic location of the mobile device is viewable by one or more other devices; and

in response to determining that the security feature associated with the at least one security data object is enabled, pausing verification of the condition of the mobile device until the security feature is disabled and causing rendering of a first graphical user interface for a user of the mobile device configured to facilitate disabling the security feature to cause the geographic location to no longer be viewable by the one or more other devices.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one diagnostic comprises a crack detection routine comprising:

directing a user of the mobile device to orient a front-facing camera of the mobile device towards a reflective surface;

capturing an image of the mobile device with the front-facing camera; and

analyzing the image to determine if a crack is present or transmitting the image from the mobile device for analysis.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one diagnostic comprises an internal diagnostic test.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one security data object is transmitted from the mobile device or from the remote provider device to the remote verification device.

The method of claim 1 , further comprising causing a prompt to be displayed on the mobile device, wherein the prompt comprises requesting entry of a serial number of the mobile device, receiving an identification data object associated with said mobile device, and determining that said identification data object matches the serial number.

The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving an updated security data object indicating that the security feature is disabled, determining an acceptable condition of the mobile device based upon the updated security data object, and transmitting computer readable instructions from the remote verification device configured to facilitate transfer of the mobile device from the user to a third party.

7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the remote verification device is configured to determine the acceptable condition and facilitate transfer of the mobile device from the user to the third party without requiring identifying information associated with the user or the third party.

The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving an updated security data object indicating that the security feature is disabled, determining an acceptable condition of the mobile device based upon the updated security data object, and changing an indication of an acceptable condition of the mobile device to an unacceptable condition after a predetermined threshold time has lapsed.

9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving an updated security data object indicating that the security feature is disabled and transmitting an indication of an acceptable condition of the mobile device.

10 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising receiving an indication that the mobile device has passed the at least one diagnostic before transmitting the indication of the acceptable condition of the mobile device.

11 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising receiving the indication that the mobile device has passed the at least one diagnostic before receiving the at least one security data object associated with the mobile device.

12 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

causing, in response to a selection of a first graphical element of the first graphical user interface, rendering of a second graphical user interface for the user of the mobile device configured to facilitate providing of an authentication credential associated with the user, wherein, in response to the authentication credential being provided via the second graphical user interface, the security feature is configured to be disabled such that the geographic location is no longer viewable by the one or more other devices.

13 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising:

determining that the authentication credential has been provided via the second graphical user interface;

requesting a second security data object associated with the mobile device from the remote provider device via the network in response to determining that the authentication credential has been provided via the second graphical user interface;

receiving the second security data object associated with the mobile device from the remote provider device via the network;

determining that the second security data object indicates that the security feature is disabled such that the geographic location of the mobile device is not viewable by the one or more other devices; and

providing computer readable instructions configured to facilitate transfer of the mobile device from the user to a third party.

14 . At least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having computer program code stored thereon, the computer program code configured, in execution with at least one processor, for:

receiving, via a remote verification device, a request for verification of a condition of a mobile device;

based on the request, causing the mobile device to perform at least one diagnostic via a processor of the mobile device;

based on the request, requesting at least one security data object associated with the mobile device from a remote provider device via a network, wherein the remote verification device, the remote provider device, and the mobile device are separate devices in communication via the network and remote from each other;

based on the request, receiving the at least one security data object associated with the mobile device from the remote provider device via the network;

determine that the at least one security data object indicates that a security feature associated with the at least one security data object is enabled such that a geographic location of the mobile device is viewable by one or more other devices,

in response to determining that the security feature associated with the at least one security data object is enabled, pause verification of the condition of the mobile device until the security feature is disabled and cause rendering of a first graphical user interface for a user of the mobile device configured to facilitate disabling the security feature to cause the geographic location to no longer be viewable by the one or more other devices.

15 . The at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 14 , wherein performing at least one diagnostic comprises

directing a user of the mobile device to orient a front-facing camera of the mobile device towards a reflective surface;

capturing an image of the mobile device with the front-facing camera; and

analyzing the image to determine if a crack is present or transmitting the image from the mobile device for analysis.

16 . The at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 14 , wherein the at least one security data object is transmitted from the mobile device or from the remote provider device to the remote verification device.

The at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 14 , wherein the computer program code is configured, in execution with the at least one processor, for causing a prompt to be displayed on the mobile device, wherein the prompt comprises requesting entry of a serial number of the mobile device, receiving an identification data object associated with said mobile device, and determining that said identification data object matches the serial number.

The at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 14 , wherein the computer program code is configured, in execution with the at least one processor, for receiving an updated security data object indicating that the security feature is disabled, determining an acceptable condition of the mobile device based upon the updated security data object, and transmitting computer readable instructions from the remote verification device configured to facilitate transfer of the mobile device from the user to a third party.

The at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 18 , wherein the remote verification device is configured to determine the acceptable condition and facilitate transfer of the mobile device from the user to the third party without requiring identifying information associated with the user or the third party.

The at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 14 , wherein the computer program code is configured, in execution with the at least one processor, for receiving an updated security data object indicating that the security feature is disabled, determining an acceptable condition of the mobile device based upon the updated security data object, and changing the indication of an acceptable condition of the mobile device to an unacceptable condition after a predetermined threshold time has lapsed.

The at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 14 , wherein the computer program code is configured, in execution with the at least one processor, for receiving an updated security data object indicating that the security feature is disabled and transmitting an indication of an acceptable condition of the mobile device.

The at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 21 , wherein the computer program code is configured, in execution with the at least one processor, for receiving an indication that the mobile device has passed the at least one diagnostic before transmitting the indication of the acceptable condition of the mobile device.

The at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 22 , wherein the computer program code is configured, in execution with the at least one processor, for receiving the indication that the mobile device has passed the at least one diagnostic before receiving the at least one security data object associated with the mobile device.

24 . The at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 14 , wherein computer program code may be housed on a Software Development Kit (SDK) and applied to at least one or more mobile devices.

25 . A system for remote verification of a condition of a mobile device, the system comprising:

a processor of the mobile device configured to

receive, via a remote verification device, a request for verification of the condition of the mobile device;

cause, based on the request, the mobile device to perform at least one diagnostic;

request, based on the request, at least one security data object associated with the mobile device from a remote provider device via a network, wherein the remote verification device, the remote provider device, and the mobile device are separate devices in communication via the network and remote from each other;

receive, based on the request, the at least one security data object associated with the mobile device from the remote provider device via the network;

determine that the at least one security data object indicates that a security feature associated with the at least one security data object is enabled such that a geographic location of the mobile device is viewable by one or more other devices; and

in response to determining that the security feature associated with the at least one security data object is enabled, pause verification of the condition of the mobile device until the security feature is disabled and cause rendering of a first graphical user interface for a user of the mobile device configured to facilitate disabling the security feature to cause the geographic location to no longer be viewable by the one or more other devices.
