Abstract

Systems and methods are described for scheduling a query for execution. The system receives and parses a query to identify one or more portions of the query. The system determines a resource allocation for each portion of the query, and determines an availability of compute resources for the different portions of the query. Based on the resource allocation and the availability of compute resources, the system schedules the query.

The computing system of claim 7 , wherein the query-resource allocation includes a plurality of query-portion resource allocations for a plurality of portions of the query, wherein the plurality of query-portion resource allocations indicate a quantity of the compute resources to allocate for respective portions of the query.

9. The computing system of claim 7 , wherein the query-resource allocation is a first query-resource allocation that indicates a first quantity of the compute resources to use to execute the query, wherein the one or more processing devices are further configured to:

determine a second query-resource allocation that indicates a second quantity of the compute resources to use to execute the query, wherein the second quantity of the compute resources is greater than the first quantity of the compute resources; and

determine that there are insufficient compute resources to execute the query based on the second quantity of compute resources,

wherein to schedule the query for execution based on the query-resource allocation and the compute resource availability, the one or more processing devices are further configured to schedule the first quantity of the compute resources for use in executing the query.

10. The computing system of claim 7 , wherein the one or more processing devices are configured to determine the query-resource allocation, wherein to determine the query-resource allocation, the one or more processing devices are configured to identify a portion of the query and determine an allocation of the compute resources for the portion of the query based on a quantity of records to be processed as a result of a processing task of the query.
