Methods and apparatus to capture images
Methods and apparatus to capture images are disclosed. An example apparatus disclosed herein includes an image sensor to observe a first image of a face, and a logic circuit to determine whether the face in the first image is in a first orientation with respect to the image sensor, and when the face in the first image is in the first orientation: trigger the image sensor to capture a second image of the face, and perform a facial recognition process on the second image, but not on the first image.
1. An electronic device comprising:
network interface circuitry;
computer readable instructions; and
processor circuitry to execute the computer readable instructions to:
access content identifying data from an audience measurement device at a first media exposure environment, the content identifying data corresponding to media content presented by a television within the first media exposure environment, the content identifying data based on an audio signature of the media content, the audio signature generated by the audience measurement device at the first media exposure environment;
access first exposure information including an identifier associated with a first person, the first exposure information indicative of exposure of the first person to the media content within the first media exposure environment, the first exposure information based on a match of a head present in an image of the first media exposure environment to the first person, the image collected by a camera, the camera in communication with the audience measurement device in the first media exposure environment, the first person registered with an audience measurement entity as associated with the first media exposure environment; and
compile the first exposure information with second exposure information from a second media exposure environment, the second exposure information indicative of exposure of a second person in the second media exposure environment to the media content.
2. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein:
the first media exposure environment is within a first household, and
the second media exposure environment is within a second household.
3. The electronic device of claim 2 , wherein the processor circuitry is to correlate first demographic information associated with the first person with the first exposure information.
4. The electronic device of claim 2 , wherein the processor circuitry is to:
correlate geographic information associated with the first person with the first exposure information.
5. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the camera is on top of the television.
6. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the processor circuitry is to associate the identifier with the media content based on correspondence between: (i) time stamp information of the content identifying data and (ii) time stamp information of the first exposure information.
7. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the identifier of the first person is determined based on a facial recognition match between a region of the image corresponding to the head and a facial signature corresponding to the identifier.
8. The electronic device of claim 7 , wherein the image is captured by activating an illumination source while the camera captures the image.
9. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein:
the image is a first image of a sequence of images of the first media exposure environment captured by the camera, the first image captured by the camera while an illumination source is active, the illumination source active based on analysis of a second image that precedes the first image in the sequence of images.
10. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the content identifying data is determined by the audience measurement device based on a match of the generated audio signature with a known audio signature associated with the media content.
11. The electronic device of claim 10 , wherein the generated audio signature is a representation of a frequency spectrum of an audio signal associated with the media content.
12. A method to compile media exposure data from a plurality of media exposure environments, the method comprising:
obtaining content identifying data from an audience measurement device at a first media exposure environment, the content identifying data corresponding to media content presented by a television within the first media exposure environment, the content identifying data based on an audio signature of the media content, the audio signature generated by the audience measurement device at the first media exposure environment;
obtaining first exposure information including an identifier associated with a first person, the first exposure information indicative of exposure of the first person to the media content within the first media exposure environment, the first exposure information based on a match of a head present in an image of the first media exposure environment to the first person, the image collected by a camera, the camera in communication with the audience measurement device in the first media exposure environment, the first person registered with an audience measurement entity as associated with the first media exposure environment; and
compiling, by executing an instruction with processor circuitry, the first exposure information with second exposure information from a second media exposure environment, the second exposure information indicative of exposure of a second person in the second media exposure environment to the media content.
13. The method of claim 12 , wherein:
the first media exposure environment is within a first household;
the second media exposure environment is within a second household; and
further comprising correlating first demographic information associated with the first person with the first exposure information.
14. The method of claim 13 , further comprising:
correlating, with the obtained first exposure information, geographic information associated with the first person.
15. The method of claim 13 , wherein the obtained first exposure information includes a person identifier of the first person determined by the audience measurement device based on a facial recognition match between a region of the image corresponding to the head and a facial signature corresponding to the person identifier.
16. The method of claim 12 , wherein the content identifying data is determined by the audience measurement device based on a match of the generated audio signature with a known audio signature associated with a known identity of the media content.
17. The method of claim 16 , wherein the generated audio signature is a representation of a frequency spectrum of an audio signal of the media content.
18. An electronic system to compile media exposure data from a plurality of media exposure environments, the electronic system comprising:
network interface circuitry to obtain the media exposure data, the media exposure data based on:
respective content identifying data corresponding to media content presented by televisions within respective ones of the plurality of media exposure environments, the respective content identifying data determined based on audio signatures of the media content, the audio signatures generated by respective audience measurement devices; and
respective audience identification information, the audience identification information respectively based on matches between one or more heads detected by corresponding ones of the audience measurement devices in images of corresponding ones of the respective media exposure environments and one or more known persons respectively associated with the media exposure environments;
computer executable instructions; and
processor circuitry to execute the computer executable instructions to compile the obtained media exposure data for the plurality of media exposure environments, the compiled media exposure data indicating demographics of persons that were exposed to the media content.
19. The electronic system of claim 18 , wherein the media exposure environments include a plurality of different environments within different households.
20. The electronic system of claim 18 , wherein the processor circuitry is to:
correlate the media exposure data with demographic information associated with the one or more known persons.
21. The electronic system of claim 20 , wherein the processor circuitry is to:
correlate the media exposure data with geographic information associated with the one or more known persons.
22. The electronic system of claim 18 , wherein the images are captured by cameras, at least some of the cameras positioned on respective ones of the televisions.
23. The electronic system of claim 18 , wherein:
the respective content identifying data is determined by respective ones of the audience measurement devices initiating matching of respective ones of the generated audio signatures with known audio signatures.
