Abstract

a tooling assembly for installation relative to a first and second turbomachine component is provided. The tooling assembly includes an axial mounting portion removably couplable to the first turbomachine component. The axial mounting portion includes a first plate, a second plate spaced apart from the first plate, and at least one turnbuckle assembly that extends between, and is coupled to, the first plate and the second plate. At least one of the first plate and the second plate include a radial compression portion. The radial compression portion includes a compression bar radially movable relative to the axial mounting portion and configured to contact the second turbomachine component.

Claims (22)

1. A tooling assembly for installation relative to a first and second turbomachine component of a turbomachine, the turbomachine comprising an axial direction, a radial direction, and a circumferential direction, the tooling assembly comprising:

an axial mounting portion removably couplable to the first turbomachine component, the axial mounting portion comprising a first plate, a second plate spaced apart from the first plate, and at least one turnbuckle assembly extending between and coupled to the first plate and the second plate, wherein the spacing of the first plate and the second plate is configured to axially adjust such that the first plate and the second plate clamp to the first turbomachine component, and wherein at least one of the first plate and the second plate are attached to a radial compression portion, the radial compression portion comprising:

a compression bar radially movable relative to the axial mounting portion and configured to contact and apply a radial force to the second turbomachine component,

wherein the first plate and the second plate each comprise an inner plate and an outer plate, wherein the inner plates of the first and second plates are configured to contact the first turbomachine component.

2. The tooling assembly as in claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first plate, the second plate, and the compression bar includes a circumferential contour.

3. The tooling assembly as in claim 1 , wherein one or more of the compression bar, the inner plate of at least one of the first plate or the second plate, or the turnbuckle assembly comprises one of a plastic material or a rubber material.

4. The tooling assembly as in claim 1 , further comprising one or more radial spacers coupled to at least one of the first plate and the second plate.

5. The tooling assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the radial compression portion further comprises at least one threaded rod coupled to the first plate or the second plate and the compression bar such that rotation of the threaded rod adjusts a radial position of the compression bar.

6. The tooling assembly as in claim 5 , wherein the compression bar defines a slot, and wherein the threaded rod extends into the slot of the compression bar.

7. The tooling assembly as in claim 5 , wherein the radial compression portion further comprises an attachment member coupled to the at least one of the first plate and the second plate, and wherein the threaded rod is coupled to the attachment member and the compression bar.

8. The tooling assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the turnbuckle assembly comprises a turnbuckle body, a first rod extending from the turnbuckle body to the first plate, and a second rod extending from the turnbuckle body to the second plate.

9. The tooling assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the first component is a compressor blade, and wherein the second component is a T-fairing ring.

10. A tooling assembly for installation relative to a T-fairing ring and a compressor blade of a turbomachine, the turbomachine comprising an axial direction, a radial direction, and a circumferential direction, the tooling assembly comprising:

an axial mounting portion removably couplable to the compressor blade, the axial mounting portion comprising a first plate, a second plate spaced apart from the first plate, and at least one turnbuckle assembly extending between and coupled to the first plate and the second plate, wherein the spacing of the first plate and the second plate is configured to axially adjust such that the first plate and the second plate clamp to the compressor blade, and wherein at least one of the first plate and the second plate are attached to a include a radial compression portion, the radial compression portion comprising:

a compression bar radially movable relative to the axial mounting portion and configured to contact and apply a radial force to the T-fairing ring of the turbomachine,

wherein the first plate and the second plate each comprise an inner plate and an outer plate, wherein the inner plates of the first and second plates are configured to contact the compressor blade.

11. The tooling assembly as in claim 10 , wherein at least one of the first plate, the second plate, and the compression bar includes a circumferential contour.

12. The tooling assembly as in claim 10 , wherein one or more of the compression barf, the inner plate of at least one of the first plate or the second plate, or the turnbuckle assembly comprises one of a plastic material or a rubber material.

13. The tooling assembly as in claim 10 , further comprising one or more radial spacers coupled to at least one of the first plate and the second plate.

14. The tooling assembly as in claim 10 , wherein the radial compression portion further comprises at least one threaded rod coupled to the first plate or the second plate and the compression bar such that rotation of the threaded rod adjusts a radial position of the compression bar.

15. The tooling assembly as in claim 14 , wherein the radial compression portion further comprises an attachment member coupled to the at least one of the first plate and the second plate, and wherein the threaded rod is coupled to the attachment member and the compression bar.

16. The tooling assembly as in claim 10 , wherein the turnbuckle assembly comprises a turnbuckle body, a first rod extending from the turnbuckle body to the first plate, and a second rod extending from the turnbuckle body to the second plate.
